I've always liked him, but it's understandable that he would take a while to adjust to the PL, not to mention being in and out of the team at various points this season. His tally for the season is more than respectable for someone in their first season coming from a foreign league (and for all the people calling him the next Chamakh, he's one goal off equalling the total that guy managed in three seasons at the club). As for important goals: his equaliser against West Ham led to us turning around the game along with his assist for Walcott giving us the lead, his goal against Spurs was the hammer blow in that match, he put the Newcastle game to bed when he came on and got the equaliser against Fulham (we would have got three points from a losing position had Arteta converted the penalty). The point about the matches against big teams is a bit skewed as well - he only had half an hour or less against City and Chelsea at the Grove, didn't have a bad game against the latter at Stamford Bridge (despite one poor miss), he changed the game when he came on in the last twenty minutes against the former at the Etihad, and everyone was just miserably poor against United. His main qualities have arguably been in a supporting capacity though - he genuinely does contribute a lot outside of goals when you watch him for 90 minutes (and has done all season, it should be noted), and the fact that he has nearly as many assists as he has goals shouldn't be sniffed at. He's obviously never going to be in RVP's league but he's got a good attitude and keeps working, which means that the fans like him - the NA-NA-NA NAAAAAAA GIROOOOOOUD song is much better than HE SCORES WHEN HE WANTS, really - and he's getting what he deserves with the goals.
