Looks like it could be amazing, another incredibly exciting-looking film added to the 08 roster!

Jesus that looks awful! Lots of bad acting scream at cameras and reacting in like a dead real way, yeh?

More Blair Witch than Godzilla and not remotely in a good way.

The trailer looks amazing, and I think handheld cameras will work well but I'm really disappointed that it looks like a straightforward monster movie, Where's the new angle, JJ? It does just look like Godzilla, the next generation.

.....what's with pixelated head guy?
And why is the 2 bigger than the other numbers on the date?

We need closure.

The only thing I'm certain of is that the writing on the wall says "Tetleys".....only joking, it looks more like "Text".

Hmmmmm.

head thing. it falls differently to the previously shown trialers, the lampost didnt fall like that before. I really hope its not godzilla, and if its like a lizard of some sort it wont be anything like what weve seen before will it? maybe its a dragon anyhow.

Looks intriguing. Not totally sold on the concept as I can't really see what's different about it to the millions of other monster movies. It would be interesting if they never showed the monster in the film, just glimpses from the POV of the characters, which would be a lot scarier.

I think Monster isnt what we have here. I think this is either the thing from LOST or it's an Alien invasion. But looks interesting.

Yeah, I actually think (read: hope) the movie is gonna be that way. Scaring the poop out of people with monsters we can't even see. It would give a whole new spin to the monster genre.

That would drive me nuts to be honest, I'd have to see the monster in the film but I don't want to see any more until the film comes out. I hope they can keep everything a secret until it's released, no more trailers please.

I think it all depends of how they approach the film. If its a straight up action film then your probably right, they would have to show the monster. However if they made it more of a character based film, which judging by the trailer its nowhere near, then not seeing the monster wouldn't be such as big deal.

I just feel it would be an interesting way to present a well worn genre.

It's a crock. And new spin on the genre, I don't think so. Remember 'Signs'? Waited all that time to see the monster, and it was a man in a giant condom. And the worst thing is we're just hyping it up for the coffers of Abram, who already sold his soul to tom cruise.

I am still not totally sold on it, but it does look kinda cool. The acting is awful though

is probably as it's from the POV of the army. Keeping it in character, the army would only release "video evidence" of the cloverfield incident if they "protected their troops" or something.
The Liberty head IS new - probably a reaction to all the inter-nerds who complained it looked too small in the teaser. It looks much beefier now.
I really like the bloat girl behind the screen, and the glimpse of something in the skyline - as with anything Abrams, I'm guessing the story will be rich. I share concerns over some of the Blair Witch style acting though...

That's exactly what a trailer should be: Exciting, suggestive, with snippets of the best bits, but not revealing those moments in full or the full plot of the film. Brilliant, even if I'm a bit iffy about the movie itself...

It was an alien invasion kinda movie with a Shyamalan feel to it. In my opinion a monster movie involves a lot of running people, broken buildings and at least one big ass monster.

But let's not continue this discussion on a Cloverfield board, jaykang
