How is Veteran on this? I'm tempted to use a bit of my outstanding credit to fire through the SP, but just wondering whereabouts it's pitched? About the same as MW2?

I'd be up for some Spec Ops as well if you're interested....

Now don't you go completing all those Spec-Ops without me pal! I will need alittle help too you know.
Glad to hear 'Veteran' doesn't sound too difficult and frustrating......I mean Tal managed it. In my experience I think the hardest 'Call of Duty' on 'Veteran' for me was 'Call of Duty 3'............by far the hardest, especially trying to hold out at the end of the game. What a bitch!

You'll need more than a little!

I have had this game since December, I think and im pretty much done with it. Being my first foray Into COD and online gaming in general I can honestly say I've been disappointed.

I find the game too much of a grind, too many things frustrating. My overall k/d is .85 but monthly it's at 1.15, average kills on the up also so I'm improving but the lag for me is ridiculous, whenever i have a 3 bar the screen jumps, resulting in many unwarranted deaths. The maps promote camping, corner campers shoud die a slow death. Hit detection is way off, the other day 3, 3 round bursts with the type95 into someones back from close range, get the kill on 3rd burst ! Although that could be lag. Wanted bullets all over the place. Domination and objective games full of people just interested in playing for kills, if ur not gonna help me cap a flag we spawned at, piss off n play TDM. The community is full of some right orrible little shits as well. Played with a guy with a 6.7 k/d, bragging, boasting, first game he went even close to negative, pooof, he was gone ! 3rd game in.

Personally the only time I quit games is when screen is jumping or I join a game over halfway through.

Try Battlefield 3, you won't be disappointed.

As YFU points out, get rid and try Battlefield 3 if you like team play! It's what the game is all about. Jumping in with friends is fantastic. One targets a heli/tank or jet with a 'SOFLAM' and the other gets the groove on with a 'Javelin Missile' right up the vehicles arse and......Boom! FUN FUN FUN!

None of this lone-soldier crap you get on COD these days. It's all about teamwork.

Most on here are Xbox360 users I think when it comes to BF3. Seriously though, try BF3!

EDIT: I suppose I better add something about COD whilst I'm posting in here..........well..........should be getting it from Lovefilms soon to enjoy the SinglePlayer side ONLY. I feel the storyline on these are brilliant compared to similar FPS like BF3 but multiplayer will be avoided like the PLAGUE!

Almost to 10th Prestige. Just grinding through it now to reach the finale before IW add the new 5 prestiges to it like they did with the PC version.

I'm surprised they didn't make them exclusive to Elite to be honest.

49-9 on TDM the other day.

EDIT: Other than the overpowered weapons and bland maps, the biggest problem with this game is server drop out. It's like we're playing MW1 again with the amount of games that are lost because players dashboard. Awful.

Purchased Battlefield 3 although haven't had time to play it yet, picked up Red Dead Redemption for a bargain as well.

Regarding COD, I've been running around with the SPAS shottie the last couple of times I've played, having a blast. Love it !

Just over 230 hours.

This is by far the weakest MW games. The game has been out for just under 4 months and there is still so much wrong with the game. Lag compensation, hit markers, drop outs and connections errors, overpowered guns and the bloody annoying vanishing rpg missiles. I've almost hit level 80 and once that's done I'm pretty much done online. I wont be carrying on when the new prestiges are added and haven't purchased Elite or the new map packs and don't intend to.

The next CoD game will need to be something different to peak my interest. There's only so much of the same thing you can enjoy before it becomes boring. CoD has now become boring, even if it is a very polished game on the surface. Elite will need to be more interactive and actually worth the purchase. Considering the problems it has had and the lack of updates it is pretty much battlelog from Black Ops.

Played through the campaign of this again yesterday, and had a lot more fun with it the second time around. Some properly brilliant moments, and because I wasn't dying as much as I did on the first play, the whole thing flowed so much better.

In fact, I may do a complete run through of CoD4, MW2 and this one.

5 new pretiges added. Robert Bowling and co can get lost if they expect me to slog through another 5 prestiges.

You dont seem to be a very big fan of the game from the posts, i was just wondering why you spent so long playing it when you seem so down on it?

3 main reasons really.

1. It's a game a majority of my friends still play and living so far away from most of them it's the best way to keep in touch. 2]
2. I'm a completist. I got through the first 2 Prestiges quite quickly and so the problems the game had I put down to being teething problems. However this has obviously not proved the case, but since I had already gone to prestige 6/7 by that time I thought I might as well carry on.
3. It's still the best FPS on the consoles. I don't want to get into an argument with the people who like Battlefield but I can't play a game where I don't actually see anyone for most of the game. If Valve had given proper support to TF2 I'd probably still be playing that as I loved it on the PC. Because MW is so big, other than Dice, I've not seen another company actually try and put together a decent console online FPS.

Get yourself Gotham City Heroes. A wee break from the norm and is apparently like TF2, I can't comment as I haven't played TF.

Seems reasonable to me, especially point 1. Alot of my friends arent fans of MW3, despite us all playing MW2, Blops extensively meaning that when we do the social thing we end up playing Blops again. I dont disagree wtth any of your points either re the issues with the game either!

Has anyone got the Elite subscription? If so is it worth the money? I always end up buying the new maps but can't work out if there's a saving by purchasing an Elite package as I can't find individual prices for the map packs. I'm not too fussed about getting them earlier I just want to know if its the most cost effective way.

I'm on PS3 and whilst nothing's been released yet I'd be keen to see what XBoxers think.

Didn't get Elite for the 360 and wouldn't suggest getting it for the PS3, at least not until they've released some DLC. To PS3 players at the moment Elite is nothing more than Battlelog, no content has been released yet. I don't feel I'm missing out on the maps, the only thing I sort of miss is theatre mode but it's nothing I can't live without.

Thanks James.

It's more about the overall cost for me though and less about timing. How much does a map pack cost for Xbox and will subscribing to Elite ultimately work out cheaper?

It will work out about the same price. If you're going to play it over the course of the year then it might be worth picking up, but not until they have released DLC. I'm not sure if it will roll over to the next CoD or whether you will have to buy a new Elite subscription.

Another reason this game is so 'great'. If your connection drops out (or the prick your playing with dashboards) during Spec Ops survival your wave progress doesn't save. Wasted over an hour tonight getting to level 29 on Seatown. Prick.

Officially retired from MP now and focussing just on the Spec Op missions to get my 1000GPS. 4 levels left to do on 3 star and they are so bloody infuriating.

Quite a big day for the Call of Duty franchise. Not only has Robert Bowling resigned from the company, but details from Black Ops 2 have been leaked.

Though not officially announced, this year's Call of Duty release is widely expected to come in the form of a sequel to 2010 Treyarch release Black Ops.

Earlier this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 briefly appeared on Amazon's French site. Activision claims that the next release will contain "meaningful innovations".

Earlier this year, Call of Duty: Black Ops' conclusion was was voted the greatest game ending of all time by Guinness World Records readers.

> Read our Call of Duty: Black Ops review

The list of Black Ops 2 information in full:

Leaked Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Information

This year, Call of Duty will return with its ninth instalment with Black Ops 2. As expected it will be following Treyarch's previous game Black Ops. It's release date is set for the November 6.

Game Modes

Escort, a new game mode similar to Search and Destroy however a live player must be escorted to one of three areas (or two depending on the map) without being killed. The match will have rounds, consisting of one life only.
Drop Zone and Kill Confirmed will return
Team Defender and Infected will not return

Pointstreaks

Will follow from Modern Warfare 3's system
Larger emphasis on objectives
A bomb plant is worth 2 points
A neutral flag is worth 1, however an enemy flag is worth 2
Flag assist capture is worth 1, a capture is worth 2
The Specialist Pointstreak has be modified. 2 kills now gets you 1 perk. The 4th kill gets you 2 more perks. The 6th kill gets you 3 more perks. The 8th Kill gets you 4 more perks. You do not get every perk when you reach 8 kills. Perks only become "Pro" when you have them Pro
RC XD will not return
Heat vision is a new Pointstreak reward. When you get the required points, you can activate this Pointstreak and your player pulls out a scope and attaches it to your weapon. This scopes main advantage is its ability to detect enemies through most walls. Note, the scope can only be attached to primaries not including shotguns
Item Packages requires 5 points. Fall alongside care packages and air drop traps. Features a list of package items only including ammo, mini gun, grenade launcher, rocket launcher, and body armour

Prestiges

There will be 15 prestiges
There will be 50 ranks
Every two prestiges there is a 5 rank increase
The final prestige has 90 levels

ELITE 2.0

ELITE is being fully incorporated into Black Ops 2
Combat record has been modified and re-named as ELITE Stats
There will be a specific lobby for clan matches (new way of levelling clans)
Clan Tournaments can now be implemented

Removed

No MOAB or Nuke
No last stand
No death streaks
No flame thrower attachment

Map Design

Map design and size will be following Black Ops not Modern Warfare 3

Sniper Rifles

Improved sniper rifle usage.
No aim assist for any sniper rifle.
Less sway

Customization

No longer just perk 1 chooses the players appearance
Appearance is a combination of all perks and type of Pointstreak being used.

Hardcore

Larger emphasis on hardcore than ever before
No grenade launchers
Only vehicle guided rocket launchers permitted
Respawn timings decreased (for most modes)
1 bullet in the foot will no longer kill a person, a head or chest shot is usually required.
A person will now bleed out if severely injured.

Perk System 2.0

The Perk Pro system has been upgraded
There is now 2 options a perk can advance to.
Both require different challenges to unlock
Once the desired Pro version is unlocked, the player can select that as their "Perk Pro".
Once selected, the only way to choose the other option is by entering prestige mode.
For example Perk slot 1 has the perk called Speed
Speed - Reduces the time taken to aim down the sight. Pro I - Swaps weapons faster. Pro II - Throws equipment faster

Combat Training

Will be returning with vast improvements.
Difficulty is no longer based on how long the bots take to start shooting.
Bots now have an advance AI system
Similar to the behaviour seen in the MW3 Spec Ops survival

Bought this (MW3) in steam sale recently and I have to say: It is a shiteload more difficult than BF3 online. BF3 is the better game overall but my KD ratios are hilariously different: both good fun i ndifferent ways.

I far prefered Black Ops though. MW3 just doesn't have any great maps.

Is there an auto lock on or something in this game?!??!?

I'm probably just a sore loser, but I can ONLY get a kill on the very rare occasion that I find someone standing still with their back to me, if they see me I may as well just drop dead on the spot, no need for any actual bullets or anything!?! Just don't get how EVERYONE in the game can aim that fast everytime!?!??!?

Base - I'm with you on this.

I'm at level 20ish and the moment, and if I'm face to face with anyone I may as well stand there bent over, with my trousers round my ankles. I may pepper them with bullets, but their one bullet is more than enough to take me down. I even witnessed a killcam where the bloke missed me and I still died!

That said I played the other night where 3 other lowly players were present, and I didn't finish last. Second to last, but not last. Why doesn't this game have matches for people about the same level? That would make it more fun, and stop me from throwing my PS3 out the window in frustration!

I had the same problem with Black Ops and ended up only ever playing the combat training mode, where I was a total badass

Why does MW3 not have a training mode

There is an obscene amount of hacking in MW3. No atempts to hide it either, these people are the scum of the earth.

Hi, looking for a bit of advice on what shooter to get, I've currently got MW2, despite my complete inabilaty to aim I'm getting the hang of the learning curve and for the most part the angry 12year olds seem to have deserted the game , but my mate is trying to get me to move to Black Ops.

what is the best shooter for a slightly below average player who prefers big maps and who doesn't fancy shelling out big money?

There is an obscene amount of hacking in MW3. No atempts to hide it either, these people are the scum of the earth.

No votekick?!?!

Aside from the name hacks (xbox/ps3 symbols), I'm yet to see any hackers, and I play quite a bit.

So removing Last Stand from BO2? Great stuff.

Adding Heat Vision perks for Assault classes? Crazy, Surely it'll just ramp up the assault rifles campers.
