The Armstrong and Miller Show

Two Spitfire pilots sit puffing pipes but talking in modern teen-speak. A man returns home to find his wife in bondage gear with his best friend, but is somehow persuaded that this is a surprise Happy Easter party. A foulmouthed Gordon Ramsay-style chef finally gets his comeuppance. These are the kind of straight-ahead, no-frills sketches with which Ben Miller and Alexander Armstrong return to being a double act after going their separate ways for far too long - and yes, they are very funny. Series like this tend to pack their best jokes into the first show, in which case the rest of the run may be a let-down; but all the more reason not to miss tonight's opener, which also includes a brilliant parody of Who Do You Think You Are? and a filthy Jane Austen spoof. Still, it's those posh pilots ("Jumbo Wilkins got shot down last week and it was, like, really bad because he died and everything?") who look like stealing the show.

Watched this on the off chance, found it patchy.When it was funny it was very funny, mainly not.The pilots and the Who do you think you are? parody were the high points.

I was dubious of this at first considering it was on BBC One, but I liked it, aswell as the sketches mentioned above I thought the sketch with the "surprise easter party" and the russian mob boss meeting the football coach was very funny, although I really did not get the melon/kennedy's been shot sketch

I thought it was kinda like how everyone remembers what they were doing etc at that point, so for him to be doing that would be embrassing tale when people ask him in years to come, well how i saw it anyway

Overall thought it was funny definitly worth giving it another try anyway, think the best sketch was the happy easter party

Hit and miss, yes, but aren't all sketch shows? Certainly better than the usual BBC comedies of recent times (how the hell that dross with Nicholas Lyndhurst or My Hero got beyond one series is a mystery).

"Kill them" could be the new 'Yeah, 'know".

Really warming to this. The pilots are brilliant. I don't like the mafia football manager though.

This reminded me of Ruddy Hell, It's Harry and Paul... and not in a good way. Mr Biffo wrote one of the sketches last week though. Huzzah!

The second episode was a bit more desperate than the first, unfortunately. I like the pilots though.
