The last (and final?) installment of the Resident Evil series takes a needed switch to a moody, carefully-paced movie that delivers enough death, action, and downright silliness to keep fans thrilled in the ailes. Despite the bad press towards this movie franchise from both the critics and the audience, I have enjoyed all these films. This one does borrow almost every action scene from other movies, but when those movies are such excellent ones such as the Mad Max and the Birds (and improves on this one with Zombie Crows) they can't go wrong. And they even bring back the Zombie dogs and the fatal lazer tunnel for further thrills. However, one of it's few flaws is that in a film that is supposed to be the last, they might as well put a 'to be continued' line on the final scene.

It's amazing what low expectations can do. If you've seen the other films you'll know what to expect. Barring a couple of plot points that didn't make sense, or new monsters that don't seem right for this series, this film really is still a great way to relax. Still it would best to wait for the DVD.

RESIDENT EVIL 1 to IV The computer games are brilliant. it just amazes me why CAPCOM would give the film rights over to Paul W.S.Anderson who lets be frank is a great editor but a shit screenplay writer and a rubbish director. The 3rd part of this cinematic turd of a franchise is equally as crap as the other two let downs. rubbish monsters, plots that have little to do with the original video games. carboard characters, waste of settings and a kind of DAY OF THE DEAD, JUDGE DREDD rip off movie is what we are left with. i hope this franchise dies and that we get to see
George a romeros original vision for resident evil.(in 1998 romero the inventor of the zombie genre pitched a script which was closer to the first game and ultra violent, unfortunatly capcom decided not to use romero and instead used Paul W.s. Anderson instead. the idiots). if your a fan of the resident evil games and are dissapointed by the shit film adaptations i urge you to seek out romeros 1998 film treatment for RESIDENT EVIL its miles better than the turd they ended up filming. Capcom are dumbasses even the title
GEORGE A ROMERO'S RESIDENT EVIL is sending shivers up my spine. had romero of directed the first movie using his script it would of got four to five stars easily. still film studios always go for the cheaper option hence the reason the resident evil movie franchise is shite.

I thought this was the best video game addaption there is, the acting's not bad, the plots simplistic and the action is awsome, and there are some bits that make you jump, I mean why 2 stars, is there like some critic manual that states video game movies should be given 3 stars or less, I mean come on, yes the second movie was awful, but this was a major improvment, the only things I hated about this was Claire Redfeild, Carlos's death(stop killing the male characters kill the herion's once in a while) and the last thing was the damn cliff hanger. Music was good though.

I think my taste in movies is deteriorating as I get older - after semi enjoying AvP : Requiem I kinda got something out of this as well. The gun/fight scenes are pretty good, the effects not bad and Milla Jovovich is actually quite a decent action heroine who can act a bit IMO.

I hated the first Resident Evil film, didn't watch the second one but I'll just about give three stars to this one - braindead, couple of good shootouts, zombies are decent, heroine deserves a better movie.

I know what you mean, I'm 39 and I love the Resident Evil movies. Sure they aren't high art or anything but I think they are entertaining nonsense. Its funny because I am not sure that they are aimed at my age group but my Wife likes them as well....

No way, Silent Hill is shitloads more digestible than Rezzy. Proper scarey in places, nice sirens, far more sinsister and fucked up. Surprised they haven't made more yet.

Was the head of Capcom on drugs that day? HE'S GEORGE ROMERO! What makes it worse is who they got instead. That said while they're all Sci-Fi shite, they're Sci-Fi shite of the highest entertainment (Milla Jolivich, first film, semi-naked, need I say more).

I haven't seen it in ages. I remember her kicking sumconsiderable arse though. And she was pretty hot alright. Though being in Eragon is like shooting your career in the foot!

Sienna Guilleroy.  Totally hawt and she delivered one of the best game-to-film performances ever   She deserves better than these two films or a cameo in Love, Actually.  Gimme Guilleroy over Miller any day, the other, uglier Sienna annoys me.  She's been back to small-time stuff since Apocalypse, and I reckon she deserves another break, albeit a bigger one next time.

Anyways.  Extinction.  I sort of enjoyed it - ignore the Resident Evil title, ignore the fact that it is meant to be the T-Virus, ignore the fact that that blonde wierdo is meant to be Albert Wesker, ignore the fact that that abomination is meant to be a Tyrant, and the film is bearable.  But its bad points - the above deviations from the game franchise, the fact that Ali Larter is playing Ali Larter and not Claire Redfield, that Milla's character has a move set comprised of deus ex machina, (it also looses triple the points lost for neutering the Nemesis in the last film for the unbelievably awful Tyrant), that the virus can suddenly drain rivers and lakes and all that, when taken with the Resident Evil title and legacy, the film falls unforgiveably flat.

Gains 3/5 stars for its few good points, loses 3/5 for its bad.  So, 2 stars   Better luck next time Milla...

Inkhart could get her reputation up a bit. It's a big family film.

Jesus christ, please stop making these films, they are fucking horrible, having said that Capcom is wise enough to make sure that the Games and the live action movies have nothing in common except the name. The game franchise is brilliant, how in the name of holy fuck the films have ended up so terrible is beyond me.
This is essentially MAD MAX IV but with zombies, written by a hack and directed by a bigger one. Paul W Anderson please stop writing scripts, they are shit. Bring Romero Back, after all he invented the genre. Lets ignore the plotlines and charaters of the first three movies and let George a Romero direct a movie based upon the second game, who is with me.

common it wasn't that bad, I enjoyed it's mad max apocalyptic zombie style. Defiantly I'd say it was the best out of the 3 and if people think its too silly then there pretty silly to come into a zombie film thinking it was going to be in anyway realistic

Resident evil is just another videogame-based movie which is NOT based on game at all, just like Silent Hill (only more tolerable) Extinction is neither horrifying nor exciting, just like previous installments, with only one exception, the characters are not even attractive anymore.
First the prelude
Seriously ... the virus dried rivers and destroyed plantlife? Somebody has terribly mistaken the situation with a Nuclear Apocalyspe. Besides, Having the city bombed and "sanitized", how on earth did the infection spread so fast? Let's believe the infection was spread by beetles(!), it would take at least two decades to cause an epidemy like that, you also have to assume that inside the world's 7 billion population, scientists, doctors, geniouses, no one has even the slightest idea that maybe day die if you shoot them in the head.
Forgetting this very interesting, real(!) image of what human kind'ss average IQ is ... you find that the videogame's primary protagonists Chris Redfield and Leon Kennedy still missing, and Jill Valentine just vanishes someplace between the second and third installment. (Videogame-"based" movie). Besides, you have an altered Carlos Oliveira and Cliare Redifield who the writers seem they have no idea who they were in the videogames, introducing Ali Larter to the movie.
Back to the beginning we see a clones Alice moving through some stages created by Dr.Isaacs to determine. (incomplete sentence? right ... determine what? Aren't they all clones of the same person of the same DNA after her infection with T-virus, why would it make difference?) I don't wanna think about how Alice's blood is gonna be useful, but what difference does the DNA from clones make to the Alice's DNA? And why Alice's clones should go through a videogame at first? To determine their "Aliceness"?
I don't wanna even start on all other foolishness in the movie, Why the Red Queen's laser killing device has to go and come and then become a grid

Resident Evil: Extinction is more of the same; it has a few impressive action sequences but are unable to compensate for the pedestrian plot.
