pathetic poor expcuse for a film, with a rubbish climax that lasts about 2 seconds, someone tell me how the fuck this girl has telekinetic powers because i must have missed that.
RE3 is bloody bad, i couldnt have been less interested. i think other than tv series, odhed fehr is quickly making a name for starring in shit films, much like milla.
must be the worst films of the year, but even if is not, RE series is definately the worst franchise ever made. who the hell was asking for the second one anyway?

a pointless exercise and waste of money. save it and go to mcdonalds instead.

Best out of the saga but it has a feeling of being too rushed, some character development of some key characters would have been better and the open end is kind of shit, with a fourth not officially said to being made, it kinda leaves you wanting more. Do the rest get to Alaska(the helicopter wasnt gonna get them all the way)? Does alice bring down the umbrella corporation? Does the human race survive etc etc.
Its resident evil so dont expect a quality film but its still fair entertainment and a film to be enjoyed.

But you still sat and watched all 3 films?  ALL 3 OF THEM?

She got the powers at the end of film 2 I believe.

Maybe it was a morbid curiosity. Maybe he wondered if Russel Mulchay (sp?) would make sense of it all. Maybe he just didn't care. Does it really matter? Besides if he hadn't seen it and declared the franchise crap wouldn't somone throw the "Don't judge till you try" argument his way? Damned if you do. Damned if you dont.

Not really, but what I find funny is that he's sat through all 3 films and sat watching film 3 knowing how bad he thought 1 and 2 were just to say "yep, number 3 is shit.", then get angry about it and post "its shit".  I know its a forum blah blah blah but it just makes me giggle, no offense.

I wouldnt say "Kumar you're an idiot" because you saw 1 and 2 and didnt like them therefore you're entitled to slag of the franchise coming to its 3rd installment IMO.  Slagging the film off without seeing it would be a problem, slagging a franchise off based on 2 films isnt.

The point is - Why would you want to get burnt a 3rd time if you've already been burned twice before?  That's the thing I was getting at (in a bad metaphor sort of way).

Nonethless it wasn't you personally that I was refering to. Obviously you fall in one side of the arguement but it's often that some fall to the other. Somone (as in anyone) would always say "Well the third was good, give it a try" or "you can't judge the franchise if you haven't seen them all".

Besides, you still don't stray from the point that there could be a hundred diffrent reasons he went to see this. He's already mentioned one (in that RE was a guilty pleasure - a point that I agree with). Nonetheless it isn't a decision that is down to you. I don't mind people opposing others arguements but opposing their reasons (and trying to discredit them) for simply watching the film/franchise is pathetic.

Personally I watched it due to the prescence of Russel Mulchay but still found the movie to be tripe.  Fun at times but completly stupid. I mean why go as far as to make a statement that the T-Virus killed off plant life and turned the world into a desert (almost) when you are going to set the film in the Nevada desert. It really doesn't give scope to the problem being that Nevada is a desert anyway .

I wasnt discrediting him, or attacking his opinion, or opposing his reasons, my original post didnt have any of that in there, and I agree there are hundreds of reasons why he wanted to watch it.

But for me, personally, its just a funny concept of watching films in a franchise, not liking them, then going to see the 3rd film especially if you're paying to see it.  If it was a cheeky sly copy/borrowed DVD etc (new or old) then fine, but its still funny to me.

I am seeing this film... Oh Yes... I am seeing this film. The first one was good, more fun than 28 days. The second was fucking genius, the most madly driven film of 2004 (I think it was 2004).

I hope 3 lives up to the 2nd film.

I thought the virus re-animated the dead, made plant life grow huge, if it affected water it would alter the microbes (or something) within it and make water monsters (which would be pretty cool) Hopefully the games designers are funnelling the money they get from these trash b-movies to making amazing games that are like being immersed into an amazing b-movie and are almost satires of B-movies. Did Paul Ws Anderson write the script this time?

Seeing this on Friday. Can't wait, i'm rating this film 4 stars for my anticipation. The majority of reviews state that this film is better than the 2nd, which I happened to enjoy anyway. So roll on Friday :)

I have no intention of seeing this film as almost every credible review I've read suggests the RE series is sh*te.

But just look at Milla Jovovich. In those stockings and that mini-skirt. That's (almost) worth the entrance fee . . .

Well to fair to the film makers most of the water within Las Vegas isn't naturally occuring, so if mankind has gone down the pan then in theory there would be no one left to maintian the supply.
The first two films are not as awful as many believe, the main problem with them is a limited budget and the fact they almost have to be PG-13 to garner enough ticket sales. Remove both of these factors and i believe they would be far better. Though to be fair it doesn't remove the fact that Anderson cannot write, direct or produce to save his life.

Wasn't much logic in it, in fact more daft than the other two, probably better than the second and almost on a par with the first. Which I know isn't saying much.

Not sure who to blame, director or writer or maybe just Sony for pretty much the most blatant fucking product placement that I can remember in ages.

OK, so this was only redeemed by Ali Larter, Oded Fehr and of course the righteously gorgeous Milla. Oh yeah, and I recognised some fella who I last remember seeing in Mortal Kombat as well.

Completely forgettable. Bring on Ratatouille!

EDIT: crap, only meant to give it two stars. Based on Empire's ratings, it was fair but not good.

Quality!

4.5/5

Not as bombastically awesome as the second, but better than the first. Technically it was the best of the three. It started off kinda ropey but when things kicked into gear I started to love it. The super-zombies sequence was great, Alice cutting those fools down with big-ass blades! And the fight with the boss monster (Tyrant) was pretty awesome too.

Shame about the "ending."

Strange that the supposed final film has the biggest scope for a sequel? Although a fourth would be kinda... insane... considering the ending of this film

Screw the critics and the normals who appreciate good cinema. Get some mates down the pub, have a few pints, have a few laughs, then go see this. It'll be a great night out.

Saw this tonight...was crap as I expected...but still entertainment..laughed at the bad guys line at the end, "i can't die!!"...but i was entertained, I'd rather see crap at the cinema than waste time at home watching it...maybe because I have an unlimited card and have forgotten how it feels to pay to see crap.

Amiable tosh, probably better than the uber-meh sequel but not as good as the first film....

Definetly a step down for Mulcahy from the excellent Highlander, though it started decently enough, once the tentacle guy appeared it turned into a comedy

2.5/5

Hahaha, n00b!!! The dude with the fingers was a staple monster from the Resi game series, known as "The Tyrant."

However, the game tyrant did not have tentacle fingers. And looked a lot better too, not like his skin had turned inside out (save for the external heart thing). Nor was its build as podgy. Nor did it speak. And it didn't have telekenetic abilities. Hell,  it's not the staple monster for the Resi games at all!

Only problem is that it's painted as a worldwide drought, not a Vegas-based one.

Big thumps from me too.

If you like the other films you'll love this.  Bigger action (ploughing of a few hundred zombs with a semi truck), scope (epic desert landscapes), gore (headshots, neck slices, gratuitous zombie carnage), deaths (impalings, falls, birds) and it looks pretty good with the added bonus of Milla, Ali Larter and Ashanti saucing up the screen too.

Solid action horror entertainment, well made and throughly enjoyable, and yes the final shot and intention for the 4th film is a little bit silly.  With this, 28 Weeks Later and Planet Terror, its a great year for b-movies with budgets.

I actually liked this film yes it has its moments of typical cliches like you always get the typical characters - one who sacrifices himself and one who tags along even though hes been bitten. But overall it was pretty good fun and it lives up to what the first film was about. It has the same creepiness about it that the first one had. Its definetly better than the second one however, if you love your zombie flicks there maybe some irritating things in this film that will niggle at you. Overall 3/5 for me.

It's probably worth mentioning first that I loved Apocalypse in its terrible/genius sort of way, so make of this what you will.

Extinction picks up some time after Apocalypse, with Alice (Milla Jovovich) now a Mad Max style desert drifter whilst Carlos (Oded Fehr) has hooked up with Ali Larter's band of survivors, the sort of cliched crew that features children for the sheer sake that they will require rescuing later. The zombies are sweeping the globe, whilst the last remaining outlet of the evil Umbrella Corporation attempts to get back control of the superpowered Alice, as her blood is the key to stopping the plague.

Whilst not hitting the over the top heights of its predecessor, RE: Extinction is still a lot of fun. The smackdown with the super-zombies in the ruins of Las Vegas is the pic's undoubted highlight, with Jovovich slashing and spin kicking zombies into the sand. A close second is the Birds inspired setpiece with the zombie crows.

As with the other instalments, it's best not to think too hard about what's going on (how does Umbrella still pay its employees? Why are there no zombies in Alaska? How come all that sets the super zombies apart from the regular zombies is that they can run?) and you'll have a lot of fun.

The only major disappointment for me was the final showdown between Jovovich and the "king zombie", which lacked the fun of the Nemesis fight that concluded Apocalypse. Also, Oded Fehr is a bit wasted, mostly reduced to firing from the sidelines as Jovovich springs into action.

For the most part, this is brain-free entertainment of the highest order, with all the zombies, kung fu and gratitituous nudity you could ask for. And the sequel-friendly ending promises more zombie-twatting to come...

yeah it was good fun. But i can't be the only one who thought that bits were just ripped out of day of the dead. And when there were those super zombies, how did they all fit in that container thing.
