HBO usually produce the goods so I was wandering whether or not Big love was any good.

Season two has already aired in the US so it should be heading your way pretty soon.

I gave up on it after a couple of episodes - not enough to hold my interest

It is good, though in my opinion took a little while longer to find it's feet. The first season is pretty good but the second is superior in almost every way. Once they've established the concept and dealt with the generalised perceptions of bigamy, both serious and humourous, the show really takes off. Definitely worth checking out.

It's OK but it's not a patch on his UB40 stuff.

I really liked the first series and looking forward to the next one...a truly fascinating subject

At elab49's request...

I recently bought the first season for £6.74 from Head, having missed it on TV. Anyway, I'm only two episodes in (so no spoilers please - unless captioned!) but have to say, my usual liberal views are being rocked to the very core. I'm finding it quite a difficult watch tbh, although it is a very good show so far.

I believe in 100% monogamy so the idea of three wives, 1 husband, several kids just shocks me. Admittedly all the women sa they went into it of their own free will - and believe me, i'm all for live and let live - but it just feels so wrong to me, not just on a trust/relationship level but also on a feminist level (and i'm a man!).

It's a fascinating watch and I can't wait to get through the rest. I was just wondering if there are any Big Love fans out there. What is Season 2 like? And has Season 3 made it across here yet? Also, has it been cancelled?

Odd - this thread must have been missed.

http://www.empireonline.com/forum/tm.asp?m=363308

is the thread from the Index at the top - several pages of fans of the show it seems.

But as that seems to concentrate on the Channel 5 showing - which looks like just the first series? I'll add this up top as US.

From IMDB it still seems to be going strong?

All these threads confuse me so!

I meant to watch when it originally aired but for some reason never got around to it. I have picked it up several times over the past year but it's always been too expensive, then when I saw it for £6.74 I knew I had to have it!

I know Season 2 has yet to get a R2 DVD release date, so might import after watching S1.

It has, I think, been renewed for a 4th season.

I'm still patiently waiting for some Freeview/terrestrial channel to show season 2. I'm going to be in for a long wait, I can tell

I'm looking forward to the 4th season. Everytime it seems things are settling down the end the season on a crazy cliffhanger.

I think the first couple of episodes of season one are probably the weakest albeit still quite good! Season 2 and 3 are very good, it really does get better and better. It does a good job of exploring all the different aspects of bigamy and the effects on all the members of the family too; it really doesn't fall too heavily on one side of the argument and lets the viewer decide for themselves.

It's been renewed for a fourth season but that won't air for another year, maybe more. Season three only finished a couple of months ago.

So 2 years after creating this thread I'm finally watch the show! I'm nearing the end of Season 1 (got it for £7 in head) and loving it, though it's slow going because I'm watching it with my parents. The whole dynamic of the show is crazy, the tension between the wives is my favouirte part. I love how Margenie (sp?) acts as a sort of big sister to the older kids. Will be able to watch Season 2 straight afterward as well as my mum has the R1 DVD.
