Favourite Soundtrack Album: Probably The Wicker Man soundtrack. Lost Highway and Blue Velvet OSTs are great too.

Favorite Era: N/A. I'll take everything I listen to on it's own merits.

Favorite Genre: Way to pigeonhole me. I'd be forced to say 'alternative' .. what I mean by that is anything which stretches the boundaries of a genre, or defies people's preconceptions of a genre or band/artist.

Least Favorite Genre: Nu Metal, most country, mindless throbbing dance music, especially unnecessary remixes with sped up vocals. Oh and all this emocore/hardcore/lovemetal crap.

First album purchased: On vinyl it was No Prayer For The Dying by Maiden. On cd it was Big Ones by Aerosmith for some bizarre reason.

Last Album Purchase: Joanna Newson - Ys

Next Album Purchase: Probably Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist. I'm working my way through a big backlog of music right now.

Last Music DVD purchased: I'm not big on watching live music dvds. The last music related docs I watched were Some Kind Of Monster and Rize.

Do You Play An Instrument: I can play guitar/bass, I can sing, play some keyboards, play a bit of the drums. I do a lot of my writing via tracking on the pc nowadays cause I'm a lazy bastard and don't have much time for such things.

Are you a solo artist or in a band (post link to website and/or MySpace, if you have one): Yeah. Erm if you really want to hear something I have old rough song sketches on www.myspace.com/jeemer and some older stuff on www.paulietheboss.com 's music section. I've not worked on them for over a year now :/

Inexplicable Band/Artist In Your Collection: I'm taking this as meaning 'guilty pleasure'... You'd have trouble finding something in my collection that I'm genuinely embarrassed to have there, but I'm sure some people would be surprised to find things in my collection like Duran Duran, Edith Piaf, Leonard Cohen, Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Marvin Gaye, 50 cent (his early mixtapes are genuinely good) and some other assorted hip hop. Some people also seem to DESPISE dave matthews, and as much as I dislike dave matthews BAND, I absolutely love the Dave Matthews / Tim Reynolds live at luther college cd.

Current musical addictions: Prince, Nas.

 Recenlty I bought a 32 inch flat screen TV so my CD player had to move onto a shelf on the other side of the room to make room for it. I totally forgot that the speakers can detatch from the actual CD player. As soon as I did this I realised what I should do about my CD storage problem. Prior to this I had two CD rakes (with slots for CDs) that were full up. I designed a structure to fit around the CD player and speakers and it just slotted into place. I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I've even got some room for more CD's in the future plus those old rakes for lesser CD's that don't deserve to be in the main collection.

This is almost all of my collection, albums not singles. Rock 'n' Roll!

Oh, I'm terribly sorry it took me so long to reply. I haven't looked at this thread for ages.

Er, well sort of.  See, the large shelf at the bottom with the CD player and speakers on was originally to display some of my larger LEGO sets (Star Wars, Batman) but I got tired of that. It was just a bit of luck that the distance between the big shelf and the botton DVD shelf was just right for three CD shelves to fit in. 
I went to a wood products/timber yard type place with reasonably well drawn diagrams of what I wanted with measurements (I'm pretty good a that side if it) and they cut the timber to length and cut slots in it at the right places. The CD shelf structure itself has no nails or anything, the vertical pieces just slot onto the horizontal pieces. Do the Dr. Spock Vulcan sign with both hands and slot your fingers together, get what I mean? So I didn't really have to a lot of proper DIY. The only tricky bit was when I got the wood home, even though the slots were the right size, the wood wouldn't simply slot together, I thought I'd sand paper it down a bit but that took ages and I didn't get anywhere so I just partially slotted them together and then stamped on them to force them into place. This worked a treat, except one piece of wood was damaged slightly along the grain, a slight split but it doesn't show and didn't break off entirely so it didn't matter.

Can anyone tell me where to start with Sigur Ros? I'm, seeing them this summer (at Electric Picnic) so I'd like to get some albums.

I'd just say start with "Von" the first album and work your way up to the last album "Takk...". There' also ( ), Agaetis Byrjun and Heim/Hvart (Live album).  There's a new studio album due out in june or july.
