Got them fairly cheap on a 3 for 2 deal at Waterstones.  Think I'm gonna start on Walden first.

EDIT: My second book didn't appear

Bought with a Waterstones voucher. Might not have bought either if I had to pay 'real' money for them (Supergods was £15, which is expensive for me, Randomness might have a lot of overlap with another book I've read). Still, thoroughly looking forward to both.

My dad adores geese.  He's obsessed with them.   So I saw this at work recently and decided to buy it for him, but I'll have a cheeky wee read once he's finished.

Excellent book.

I've not read Armageddon, but I've read the companion piece Nemesis, which deals with The Pacific theatre of war and I thought it was excellent too.  Very comprehensive and is great at setting the context.

Anyway after recommendation on the 'What Are You Reading' thread, I have now ordered -

since I enjoyed Into Thin Air and Into The Wild so much.

Yep, I bought Armageddon based on how good Nemesis was.

Aww man, that ^ brings back some memories for me from last Christmas.

I was doing night shifts at work - which were a total laugh in the first place, only 4 members of staff knocking about a large 4 storey building between 10.30pm and 7am each night - and I remember when that book first came into stock.  We have a paging system in store and I remember one night I was on the ground floor and everybody else had disappeared, so I picked this up and started playing the sounds over the paging system.   I was totally laughing to myself when they all re-appeared to see what the hell was going on.

Unpacking the delivery today and I came across a beautiful hardback book published by the Natural History Museum about the race for the South Pole.

It's been put aside for me to buy tomorrow.  It's just so beautiful.

Update: And while I was buying the above today, I added this one on too.

Having been impressed with the three Krakauer books I've read so far, I decided to buy this one -

Ideally would have prefered the original book, The Siege of Trancher's Farm, however it's a little hard to come by and most of the copies I could find were fairly expensive for a used copy.

So just ordered a second hand copy of the above.
