Amelie, you buy a whole lotta books! I get stressed just knowing there's another book to read after finishing one, if I can't help myself and get a heap. I like a clean slate, is what I'm getting at. How can you bear it?!

To be honest i can't! But i am so addicted to buying books it's scary. I literally can't go into a bookshop and leave empty handed. I can't even go into Tescos anymore without buying a book. It drives my parents mad!

And yet, still not as good as Jon Stewart's book.

The Wire is surely the best TV show ever broadcast in America. This claim isn't based on my having seen all the possible rivals for the title, but on the premise that no other program has ever done anything remotely like what this one does, namely to portray the social, political, and economic life of an American city with the scope, observational precision, and moral vision of great literature.

The Wire has never won an emmy? [It] deserves the Nobel Prize for Literature!

I lost the above (AP) in Hong Kong and was almost finished with it. It has to be better than the film, surely?

It is a fantastic book, one of the best examples of American satire out there. It's just horrific! I read it recently - mostly in school - and it really shocked me, even though i'd seen the film. But i do recommend the book to those with a strong stomach.

christian bale said that he sees american psycho as a dark comedy, and if bret easton ellis wasn't writing it as a comedy, he doesn't really know what he was doing!

Got these two for my birthday.

The Pilkington book is hilarious. I laughed out loud at pretty much every page.

I won't read Long Way Down til I've seen the series, but it's nice to have.
