I just recently saw on Her Majesty's Secret Service and it wasn't that terrible. I didn't care for seeing Bond in a erm, kilt and the whole suicidal Tracey (Diana Rigg) it never explains why she tries to drown herself. The ending is certainly a downer, but emotionally good acting. George Lazanby wasn't bad either. The biggest beef I have about Bond, is well he's NOT A LOOKER at all, and though he's got a great body, his charisma is on the sidelines for now. He's too pissed off.

Goldeneye- for me Pierce Brosnan is Bond, the debanoir, the build, the height, the charisma, the humor, the edge and the best Bond girl in Famke Janssen as Xenia Onnatopp,
Goldfinger Sean Connery, the sexy stare, the build, the quips, Pussy Galore, Goldfinger
Thunderball Sean Connery
The Spy Who Loved Me Roger Moore, funny, Jaws, the floating underwater car
License to Kill-Timothy Dalton was kind of too serious as James Bond, I enjoyed this movie, certainly more grit than the others and I love the ending
The World Is Not Enough although I didn't buy Denise Richards as a nuclear psychist (can't spell it!) I did enjoy Sophie Marceau and Pierce Brosnan's chemistry and her character Elektra, I loved how Q bowed out, just perfect
Tomorrow Never Dies, loved Michelle Yeoh as the gal who didn't need Bond, the motorcycle stunts, the humor
WORST
Russia With Love, yeah I know it's Connery but I could never stay awake during this one just too slow
Quantum of Solace, I wanted to like this movie, but I felt like I was watching Bourne half the time, and Bond is too pissed off although Olga Kurylenko did a good job as a Bond girl but she was orange all the time, bad spray tan was distracting
Casino Royale it all amounts to a card game, and that's it, although I did love the banter between Bond and Vesper
A View To A Kill Tanya Roberts annoyed the hell out of me, all she did was scream, and Roger Moore was looking a little long in the tooth
The Living Daylights, just slow, and very little humor

After watching Bond on TV for the first time in Live and Let Die I was amazed to see that there were action movies this cool that children are allowed to watch, at that time ITV were having a Roger Moore 007 Marathon and after that they showed the 2 Dalton movies. Heres how I would rate the Bond movies

For Your Eyes Only - my worst bond movie ripped off every other Bond idea, bringing back and getting rid of Blofeld, the lotus from the spy who loved me painted red instead of white, not an interesting enough cast, rubbish plot, rubbish ending, doesnt feel like a Bond film.
Octopussy
A View to a Kill

and this is how I would rate the Bond's

1) Sean Connery - the orignal and the best, with the exception of Diamonds are Forever
2) Pierce Brosnan - sauve and sleek, how Bond should be
3) Roger Moore - my first Bond, funny witty and at times deadly great memories and decent dialogues from his Bond flicks
4) Daniel Craig - might be a bit early to judge however Lazenby left after one film and Dalton left after his second, with a great debut it's all gone tits up with the die hard fans and critics with Quantum, we'll have to wait and see for his next feature.
5) George Lazenby - a bit annoying, however the love story between him and Diana Riggs is amazing, before Vesper Lynd shattered Bond's armour on the silver screen there was Mrs. Bond
6) Timothy Dalton - hailed by many the best Bond, and I feel guily putting him last because he is everything Bond should be merciless, unforgiving and unstoppable, this was shown in Licence to Kill, in which you see Bond pushed to the limit.

One things for certain however that Bond is now legend and the movies are never ending with Bond 22 just around the corner one things for certain - nobody does it better.

I'm just playing with you... don't worry. You're still wrong though...

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that Henry Cavil WILL be the next Bond after Craig but as Life is now cancelled and after seeing him on What I Got News For You, I'm more and more convinced that Damien Lewis would be an awesome Bond/Bond villain/Bond associate.

Of course he may have to darken his hair a bit. Considering how much fuss was kicked up over a 'Blond Bond', the great unwashed would go apeshit over a 'Ginger Bond'.

i love the roger moore bonds, but i noticed something weird the other night. I was watching Octopussy and during the opening credits the sihouetted bond is giving the naked girl what can only be described as "the aeroplane" swinging her around by one arm and one leg. Crazy.

It's good, but I feel is let down by all the "this is the same guy, honest!" scenes from an era where they had trouble getting over Connery, before they managed to relax things and hired Roger Moore. The theme is still the greatest.

I'm staying out of Reader's Reviews, it is a scary place, but needless to say I really enjoyed Skyfall apart from the odd lapse in logic. If anything it's the same little niggle I have with The Dark Knight in that much of The Joker/Silva's plan depends on them being captured and not the hero or someone else shooting them in the face straight away... Ah well, still a great film.

Anyway, for those that are interested, Mendes has addressed 'gun-barrell-gate' and said, it was attempted to place the gunbarrel before the pre-titles sequence, but this was not possible due to the opening shot of the film not matching up. Still, I'm sure that'll do little to disuade the angered.

Also, approximately 10 minutes of footage was taken out before the final cut due to run-time, so the following may be on the DVD.

- A shot of Bond running through Regent's Park as he prepares for his MI6 evaluation (which was in the teaser trailer).

- An exchange between M and Mallory when she quips Bond being in the South China Sea is precise intelligence.

- M's Assistant is cut almost entirely from the early MI6 scenes.

- An establishing scene with S�v�rine in Shanghai International Airport where she gives Patrice the equipment case on the escalators.

- Exposition scenes that explained that S�v�rine sets up targets interested in buying stolen paintings only for them to be assassinated and the money stolen.

- A procession of hearses and producer Michael G. Wilson's cameo as a pall bearer at the funeral service for the MI6 agents.

- Shots of dead & wounded MI6 agents following the explosion were cut.

Also, how cool was that scene where Bond is fighting Patrice and every now and then, their faces are lit up by gunshots?

They did make a joke about "this never happened to the other guy". That still makes me LOL.

This is what I thought. I think it made more sense to leave it in the end than at the start, the way the opening was set up was fantastic and the way it was put at the end was great. The gunbarrel would have been an athmosphere and tone killer at the start.

Which is a lame excuse. When the film was being storyboarded someone could have said "you do know if we go with that first establishing shot we can't do a gun barrel?" And some bright spark could have replied "oh yeah!, let's change the first shot so we can do a gun barrel."

It's obvious they had no intention of doing a gun barrel and the reason is clear. Barbara Broccoli wants to distance the Craig era Bond films from those of her father. Moving the gun barrel to the end or after the pre-credit scene (as was the case in Casino Royale, and the gun barrel scene was set in a toilet!) is her way of trying to put her own signature on the franchise but it's a misguided signature. The Craig Bond films do not benefit by moving the gun barrel opening. Regardless of the content of the three Craig James Bond film, the producers have failed to respect the purpose of the gun barrel. They've shown the ignorance or naivety. Then again, perhaps they're just a bit arrogant and think they can do what they like and expect fans to accept such changes.

I kinda wish they had kept in the scene explaining that S�v�rine sets up targets interested in buying stolen paintings only for them to be killed as that was the one thing that stuck out in my mind after the film as a bit random and confusing. I know parallels have been drawn with The Dark Knight but in many ways I got a big Dark Knight Rises theme from Skyfall. Stuff, like him being injured and not up to his previous physical peak, being told he's too old and not what he once was and then rising up again from the ashes to prove him all wrong. The ending was even a new beginning just like DKR in many ways. I guess, this seems to be the way to do a third film now as the Iron Man 3 trailer gives off even more of a DKR feel than this.

And hell yeah! That whole sequence was reallly, really cool! Can't wait to watch that fight on Blu-Ray.

Yep, that definetely makes more sense considering she's been a producer on the series since 1987...

I remember getting really confused when everyone got pissy about the gun barrel sequence being at the end of Quantum of Solace because I don't remember this much anger about Casino Royale's gun barrel sequence. For the record, I like how that is used, but doesn't it break more of the "precious" gun barrel rules? Bond doesn't enter from screen right and not against a white vaccum and he's not wearing a tuxedo. Heck, to be really pedantic, it doesn't even take place at the "start" of the film like the others either.
I personally don't think it matters. In fact, I think it goes rather nicely at the end of the film.

By the way, how much are we allowwed to talk about Skyfall in here?

Also, I really liked Winshaw as Q and I really hope Tanner comes back in the new films. I really don't understand why they didn't have him in Casino Royale and instead had Tobias Menzies' Villiers...

Probably, I'm sure that may have been the producer's dream, but I doubt Connery would have done it and if he had, it would have been horribly glaring and (for me) taken me out of the film... despite how cool it would have been to see him blowing away bad guys with shotguns.

I'm so glad Connery didn't get to do it, personally I don't like the bloke, it would have taken the piss out of the film completely plus I think he would have struggled with a Scottish accent.

See, I think it would have been amanzing. I don't think it would have taken the piss out of the film at all. Only if they had put him in a tux and had him spouting lines from his tenure of Bond. He could have channeled a bit of Henry Jones Senior and blended it with proper Connery badass-ness. Imagine how much cooler that line"Welcome to Scotland" would have been with Connery. Personally as much as I like Finney, he took me out of the film more as I kept thinking this should be Connery. Especially when he said the aforementioned line in an English accent...

No, I really would have hated that. "Welcome to Scotland" would have sounded too much like "Welcome to The Rock" and taken me out of the film even more. I'd have half expecetd Nicholas Cage to have jumped through the church windows sideways shooting everyone

I think Finney played the role without being Finney, to be perfectly hoenst I had forgotten he was in it so didn't realise it was him for a good few minutes.

No, I really would have hated that. "Welcome to Scotland" would have sounded too much like "Welcome to The Rock" and taken me out of the film even more. I'd have half expecetd Nicholas Cage to have jumped through the church windows sideways shooting everyone
I think Finney played the role without being Finney, to be perfectly hoenst I had forgotten he was in it so didn't realise it was him for a good few minutes.
