Smashing Pumpkins at Manchester Academy.

I gotta say, I hope Billy Corgan is in a better mood than he was when SP played the big Manchester Arena a few years back... ok, it was only half-full, but there's no need to be such a bitch about it.

Thurston Moore and Michael Chapman are doing a gig at the Glee Club In Birmingham, apparently they're doing a set each, then ending with a joint set, could be interesting.

B52s are playing the o2 in August and they're one of my missus' favourite bands...debating whether to go with her. Like a lot of their stuff but not a huge fan. My mate who's going with the missus reckons the crowd is going to be mainly glammed-up middle-aged queens!

For the first time in ages I actually have a few gigs lined up. Which is fantastic...

I'm seeing Willy Mason at The Wardrobe in Leeds on Friday 8 March
Stornoway at The Cockpit on Weds 13 March
And James supported by Echo and The Bunnymen at the Academy in April.

After that it's Live at Leeds which is a brilliant all day multi venue festival.

Can't wait...

Bruce Springsteen tickets go on sale tomorrow for his show at the brand-new Leeds Arena... he normally plays stadiums and football grounds, but to see him in a venue that has a roof on it... wow.

I'll be online at 9am but, let's face it, most of those tickets ain't gonna go anywhere near the general public... they're gonna go straight to those websites that have massive mark-ups. Channel 4 did a documentary about it a while back. I'll be bloody surprised if I get a ticket, quite frankly, and if I do, it'll be right at the back, yet still paying top-price...

What do you guys think? Who is getting the massive mark-up in prices? Does the artist know how the fans are getting ripped off or are they getting a cut? Or is the distributor having a laugh?

Did you manage to get tickets for this? I got mine on the Wednesday through O2 Priority. And a Friend of mine went and queued for tickets at Leeds Town Hall. He got there at about half eight and had to wait five hours before he got served but they had a certain allocation and they closed the queue so if you were in it you were getting a ticket.

Seems like a grand way of doing it if you ask me. And once they get into the swing of things they should get faster at serving.

Nah, sold out before I could get a decent link on the website. Glad you got them though, enjoy! If you've never seen Bruce before, you're in for a great night!

Again, I say... do you think that the artists know that the fans are getting ripped off (and settle back, knowing that their big expensive cut of the profits is coming to them) or is it a big scam from the ticket agencies that people like Bruce would be really pissed off about? I could get tickets for Bruce In Leeds for a few hundred quid if I wanted to... but I ain't paying that out of sheer principle

Was unlucky enough to be there that night - dull is an understatement. Never seen so many people walking out. We only stayed to the end as the tickets weren't cheap!

Was actually glad they didn't do an encore as we were bored shitless by the time they left the stage. Only saving grace was the fact that they played "Drown"

You said your tickets weren't cheap? I hope you won't hate me when I say that me and my mate got tickets off E-bay for... �3 each. And they were really good seats.

It was worth �3.

Corgan's always been a bit awkward like that - I saw them at Reading in 1995 and over half the set was made up of tracks from 'Melon Collie...'. Which wasn't out for another three months. Apparently he took the right huff when they played Newcastle last year too. All things considered he's something of a prick.
Which segues nicely into someone who very much isn't a prick and I'm going to see tomorrow night - the godlike Mark Eitzel. Can't wait.
