Good post porntrooper, I watched the game and it was enjoyable, very disappointed too in the managers statements.

What a shocking result. In front of a bumper 27,000 home crowd the players may as well have not even gotten out of their cars. Barnsley probably deserved more than 1-0 and lcredit to them, they trampled all over us but then again that is not too difficult to achieve when we play like that. We can't perform, let alone win, at home at the moment and the Blackpool result masks over the fact that the previous other three fixtures have been the worse football we've played since Chris Powell arrived at the club. We're lazy, shot-shy and lack any real effort until the final few minutes when the home fans finally give up getting their backs and start booing and we become desperate (see Palace game). There's a placard above the entrance down the tunnel at the Valley that Powell had installed which reads "Quality is expected, effort is demanded." It's cheesy but we're getting neither by a long way at the moment and the players had better buck their ideas up and quickly. 1-0 defeat at home to a team like Barnsley (no offence to them) has us as out-and-out relegation candidates.

Jackson and Wright-Phillips are also starting to look really out of their depth at the moment in this league whilst Fuller and Razak are our two liveliest players at the moment. I have no aversion to Powell ditching players in January who can't cut it at this level, regardless of what they achieved last season, I doubt they'd show any loyalty if they were starring and a premiership club came knocking.

Leeds away on Tuesday night. We rarely play well against Leeds, regardless of how they're doing. If we get anywhere close to how we did on Saturday they'll probably obliterate us.

I don't know who's more nervous, our fans, or Ben Hamer.

1-1 up at Leeds is a result I'd take any season. Sounds like in the end we should have won it but I hate saying that as I'm a firm believer that no matter how much possession you have, no matter how many chances you create, you've got to make it count to take all the points and we didn't, we desperately need to improve our home form now and try and get some back-to-back results on the board. We're missing three key players through injury at the moment in Rhoys Wiggins, Yann Kermorgant and Ricardo Fuller and that hasn't helped. Yep, to be honest, anything above relegation will do. Obviously we'd like to finish higher but as long as we don't go down in our first year back I'll be happy.

I said before the season started Leicester will win the league and you look on course!

EDIT: We still did you though didn't we? All dreaming of a team of Kermorgants!!

Being beaten 1-0 at half-time and we're playing like we do at home. Barely creating a chance and being turned over at the back by swift, cool attacking skills, mainly Sako who scored and should have had three or four more.

We'll be lucky to get out of this having not lost 3-0.

To tell you the truth you could have been out of sight by half-time, we can't keep going into games and playing like this and expecting three points to magic out of somewhere. For a start we can ditch 4-5-1, it's not working, that much is obvious and we need to get more width into our game, we try to build up to slowly and allow oppositon defences the chance to rebuild against our attacks. What we did against Leicester in the first half in our second game of the season needs to be the way we need to try and play every week.

Two equalisers against teams, both of which have notoriously dodgy defences, have masked over the cracks of what is continuing to be a team struggling at championship level.

Poor. Beaten up at home by a physically superior Palace team. It was men against boys.
They didn't outplay us, they outmuscled us. Something we perhaps needed, kick a bit of the swagger out of the team.
We couldn't go all season winning at home, and talk in the boozer beforehand was this would be the game we'd lose. Perhaps we shouldn't have discussed it.
Never mind, 2 away games in a row, we're up there in the mix, no need to panic just yet, alhtough if we don't win on Saturday it'll be Pearson Out!!

Definitely best story of the day and in no way at all a marketing stunt of a team who seem to prefer BS press stories to actually playing football. Maradona is target for Blackburn manager.

btw Maradona is available because the UAE side Al Wasl let him go after leading the team to 8th in the mighty 12 team division.

What the hell are Blackburn doing? They might as well sell the whole club and give the cash to the Walker family and be done with it.
For the record, Maradonna was the best footballer I ever saw, I don't hold any grudge about his handball in '86, or the fact the Argies are still far too gobby for my liking, and will give him the upmost respect if he does end up being Blackburn manager.

I've nothing against Maradona. I'd agree that he's the best player I ever saw. He pretty much dragged a fairly standard Argentinian team to win a WC and it looked like he was in the mood to do the same again in '94 before failing a drugs test. Let's face it, we still love Gazza and all he did was put Colin Hendry on his arse and not take a big enough shoe to get us past Germany and into the finals.

Maradona can't manage for shit, but phenomenal player.

Its just that Venkys keep putting out these entirely mad headline grabbing statements, do you remember when Ronaldinho was going to join them and they'd be winning the CL within 4 years. Put Maradona in charge and the only thing I see them winning within 4 years is the League 1 title

EDIT: apparently the other rumour is 'Arry. I'd see that as a win-win for sitting 20 yards away from a manager taking shit.

Blackburn job goes to Henning Berg, which sounds much less fun than some of the alternatives available. Good history as a player, but doesn't seem to have achieved much as a manager. Given Blackburn is a strong squad who should be in the PL next season I'd say this is a bit of a gamble. Just not as much of a fun one as bringing in Maradona.

On the note managerial merry-go round, can't help but have a good old laugh at the Palace Ultras who insisted Freedman "loves us too much that he'll never leave for money." The best being the big black and red flag in the Holmesdale End at Selhurst Park which displays a graphic of Freedman next to the words 'Players come and go, Legends are forever.' Hope the poor sod can recycle it and get a bit of money back!

Joking aside though, I wouldn't have left Palace to go to Bolton but there we go, these kind of moves have a habit of coming back to bite the aforementioned on the backside and I think Palace will probably come out the better of this. Unless they end up getting desperate and try and appoint Peter Taylor again....

McCarthy has a certain charm about him and I don't think Wolves did themselves any favours firing him, but it'll be intriguing to see how things work out for him at Ipswich, this is their third attempt to right a sinking ship with a recongised manager with recent premiership experience so this one really needs to work out or they'll be heading where we were a few years ago.

Micko is the opposite of dour and uninteresting m8 (at least in terms of football managers). Holloway's a dick though, was amusing to see his funny guy routine slowly devolve into standard ref-bashing/moany twatness over the course of his season in the PL.

I just find his voice incredibly annoying, whenever I hear him on Radio 5 or MOTD 2 I want to stab myself in the ears.
I don't think he's done anything of note but comes across as a bit of a know-it-all.
I think it was the GIF where the camera pans in and he pulls the cheesiest of smiles and eyebrow raising.

Firing Mick was absolutely the right thing to do (we were getting worse each season in the PL under him) but the board got their timing exquisitely wrong and failed to sort out a decent replacement which fucked the team. I agree it's a good appointment for Ipswich though. He'll see them safe and probably get them pushing for promotion in a couple of seasons. A couple of Wolves' scouting team have quit today presumably to link up with their beloved Mick at Ipswich so Solbakken gets the opportunity to bring in some more backroom staff no-one's ever heard of

Zaha is not overrated, he is rated exactly right. I've seen him take apart a few teams almost singlehanded already this season (including Wolves - we were comfortable against Palace until he decided he'd had enough and crushed the defence).
