Pontypool was a very strange but interesting film. It was nice to see something new done with the zombie genre.

Been in the horror mode past few days so have watched a couple of films

V/H/S - 4/10 - Loved Ti West's House of the Devil so was looking forward to his segment here, unfortunately it wasn't that good, but I did enjoy the first segment with the three guys

The Exorcism of Emily Rose - 6/10 - wasnt what I was expecting, would call this a legal drama with elements of the supernatural, a well made movie with good performances from Tom Wilkinson and Laura Linney.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 - 3/10 - I really liked the first one when I watched it a few years ago, so always was interested in checking this out, but as I expected there was nothing special here, although I did like the concept and the ending so wasn't all that bad.

Apartment 143 - 3/10 - Hasn't heard of this film until I caught a trailer online, paranormal investigators aim to find out what is tormenting a family, not as scary as I was expecting it to be but it did have some good moments but it's let down by a weak plot that seems to be the case with all these found footage/ handy cam horrors

The Devil Inside - 3/10 - pointless movie that delivered nothing much, I think the problem with this film was it did not know where to take the plot, had it concentrated on the possessed mother it could have had more potential

Stigmata - 4/10 - There were some good moments here but I think I liked it more for the actors than for the actual plot.

Was thinking of watching Sinister heard its a good film would anyone recommend it?

Some good choices there, sir!

2 - Suspiria
3 - Carrie
4 - Let The Right One In
5 - Dawn Of The Dead (original)
6 - Cannibal Holocaust
7 - Martyrs

I have to say, I couldn't stand Martyrs. The first half was an interesting (and very bloody) psychological horror, but the second just descended into mindless, gratuitous torture. I'm sure it was trying to say something, but it just left me feeling completely disgusted.

Some nice choices on the rest though, on both lists

@Timbzy: Excellent choice with The Last Winter!
That one is about as tense as it gets. I never heard anyone else mention that before, major ++
I'll check out those others you suggested.

I hope this hasn't already been posted. One of the darkest and most tense psychological horrors I have seen.

Tensions rise within an asbestos cleaning crew as they work in an abandoned mental hospital with a horrific past that seems to be coming back.

Agree about the last half of Martyrs but that's what made it one of my favourites... for the first time in a good long while, a horror film really GOT to me! All that SAW or HOSTEL bollocks with all the gallons of blood... small fry. I was so disturbed and freaked out by this film, it took me a few months to pluck up the courage to view it again. The conclusion was so wrong and horrible! And thats why its a big fave of mine...

Fair enough, Whistler. I'm just a bit tired of horror movies having very little HORROR about them. Yeah, you can throw gallons of blood and guts at the screen but most of it makes no impact on me. Saw the new EVIL DEAD picture, pretty decent and splattery as all hell, but it didn't truly affect me.

Actually, the film that freaked me out the most recently was INSIDE, which I think adamthehorrorfan mentioned... I didn't think the film as a whole was a classic, hence it not making my list, but the ending... jesus! The same goes for MARTYRS...

I'll also mention the ending of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN... the final scene has not a drop of blood in it but it is so disturbing...

Anyway, my silly little thoughts, anyone else..?

There's been some positive buzz about The Conjuring from EIFF, which has me very excited. Hopefully it's another Insidious.

Just disappointed it's been pushed back to August...

Damn, Whistler, if I was anywhere near to that venue, I'd be well up for that... havent seen Stagefright in many a long year, but I seem to remember it was great... and Hardware is a personal 90's favourite (with a great soundtrack... 'The Order Of Death' is one of my fave songs ever...)

Have a good 'un!

Watched Frankenstein's Army last night. This has some really fantastic creature design in it, honestly some of the best and most imaginative i've ever seen. movie is a bit amateurish but worth it just for the designs and FX.
