Click..... http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Exorcist-3-DVD/dp/B000VNMQSU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1256668226&sr=1-4

it is available, and for how good it is, £14.99 is well worth it. You could get the boxset, OR get it on region 1 if you have multi-region. If you get the boxset, i can tell you this right now, Exorcist 2-The Heretic is an embarrassement, The Beginning is awful, and Dominion is the strongest of the 2 prequels, but has some of the worst effects ever (however, this is due to the studios backing out half way through). Either way, Exorcist 3 is a must see, seriously, one of the scariest films ever

Just ordered the entire Exorcist Collection off HMV for £11.99. Sweet.

Watched The Messengers on Film4 last night, with the girl from Twilight. Was quite good, some genuinely unsettling imagery. 7/10.

I want to see Triangle and Jennifer's Body. Isn't Jennifer's Body basically Prom Night 2: Hello Mary Lou though?

I watched Autopsy the other night, thought it was pretty good.

Triangle has gotten some good reviews, judging from the TV spots I wasn't expecting it to be that good, want to check it out as well.
Jennifers Body is the movie I'm most looking forward to this month, Diablo Cody is a brilliant writer, Juno was excellent.

I see you lot are talking about one film I saw on the weekend....................

    JENNIFER'S BODY

Ever since that image of bending her back over a car that has donned many teenage boys bedrooms, Megan Fox has exploded into Hollywood but Transformers aside, the paying public and her ever growing teen fan base are waiting for her signature role.

For her first lead role she teams up with the Script writer and the producer of award winning Juno, for a tale that  mixes horror with teen angst.

The film is based on the friendship of two teenagers who have been friends since Kindergarten.  Jennifer (Fox) and Anita (the promising Amanda Seyfried) decide one night to go and watch a rock band, but when a tragic fire engulfs the venue, and Jennifer takes off with the lead singer of the band, things take a turn of the unexpected when Jennifer returns from her escapades.  Soon murders take place all around the high school, all being boys, and Anita begins to realise that her best friend may have returned not just with a different attitude, but also as a murderous and blood thirsty vixen!!!!

Coming to the end of 2009 I can say for sure that Jennifer's Body is the most desperate film of the year.  You can feel the strains of voices echoing from the film that this wants to be a cult, a film so wanted to be loved and maybe join the likes of Heathers that at times this shares themes with.

In fact, the overall theme here is not about horror, but of a special bond between two friends that borders on the lines of confused lesbian feelings.  Here we have the pretty friend of Jennifer to her "needy" friend of Anita and the sexual tension that develops between them.

Films of this nature have been around for years, with Carrie leading the way of the pain of growing up and of course the wonderful Ginger Snaps went down this path a few years back, instead we had of course two sisters sharing the anger and confuse of puberty

Jennifer's Body reminded me so much when watching, of Ginger Snaps that it was hard to get out of my mind.  But when Snaps, managed to mix laughs, teenage pains and true horror to fantastic effect.  Jennifer fails on all three counts, getting lost with its own cleverness in the script.

The film lacks any warmth and any love for the characters, failing to build any background for us to engage with what is on show.  Unlike Carrie and Snaps, the characters feel unrealistic to the cause, its sad to say that the girls in Mean Girls were more believable to what is going on in High School today.

This is no fault of Fox who deserves some credit for trying her hand at something different instead of being the standing pretty girl.  She of course uses her looks to maximum effect at times but also we get scenes where she tries to look a mess.  No make-up and staring at the mirror as she knows something is wrong with her, a few minor moments that show that in between the much silliness is a good film trying to get out.

Playing it straight is the films biggest downfall.  Instead of not taking itself seriously and maybe played on a satire theme could have saved this movie.  Sadly the film tries to balance between snappy dialogue and downright scares, and while getting one or two cracking one-liners in, The film is devoid of scares and most importantly any horror.

It all builds to a flat outcome with even the much talked about Lesbian kiss lacking any passion that as nowhere near the impact that Cruel Intentions offered.

Its an instantly forgettable film, one I wont be watching again in a hurry, the film lacks all the right ingredients to make the overall theme work and at the end even the most die hard of teenage boys will come to the realisation that Jennifer's Body is not even that sexy, unlike the poster that promised so much, but give us so little......

OVERALL: A waste of all the talent involved.  Too many better films of this theme out there and a misfire for Fox who is still waiting for her "role", maybe the much talked about Wonder Woman that she quickly dismissed will be her box office gold...or a certain Lara Croft that is waiting in the wings........1.5 out of 5

Sorry guys but it was a load of crap!!!!

Before watching Triangle, you need to see a film called Timecrimes, its a Spanish thriller very much like Triangle, to do with time travel. It will seriously mess with your head

Timecrimes is a depraved, little gem. A great advert of how to make a completely compulsive yarn out of a very small budget. The movie has aspects of horror, mystery, sci-fi and thriller. American remake is on the way.

The first American remake to really get excited abvout tho, as its David Cronenberg in charge of the remake

Yeah, "Timecrimes" really impressed me with the small cast and micro-budget.
I didn't know David C was on board for the re-make, that's a great choice.
I can see the similarities with "The Fly" for example when he uses that big chamber.
I don't want to say anymore in case I ruin it, but anyone who is thinking of seeing it I'd recommend they do so.

Anyone seen "Ravenous" out there?
I'm really sorry if it's been mentioned before at all. I saw it when it first came out and re-watched it just the other day.
It sadly bombed completely on it's release. Which is a shame as I think it's got some great moments, fantastic music, dark humour and memorable quotes.
It's a fun B-movie with great performances by Guy Pierce and Robert Carlyle. In particular I thought and the soundtrack by Damon Albarn and Michael Nyman was sublime. It's completely unique and builds, in my opinion, a really great atmosphere for the film.
It's budget was only small and the film in my opinion looks great. Hat's off to Antonia Bird (a British director, hooray!).
The battle scenes look pretty authentic at the beginning as well considering the small production funds used.

Plus it has Ed Rooney from Ferris Buller! Come on what more do you want?
It may not change your life but it's well worth a watch.

I thought the first three quarters of Ravenous were absolutely fantastic and yes, the soundtrack really did build the sense of dread and tension as the rescue team get closer to the truth. I was a little disappointed when the storyline moved to a more supernatural theme in the final quarter but all the performances were more than solid. 7/10

Timecrimes is a work of genius, the possibilities are endless!!!  Cronenberg will do a great job with the remake. I'm not usually one for American remakes, but this i'll be excited to see!

Ravenous is a great little film, has a bit of a cult following. Robert Carlisle looks positively menacing in the film, and i just love the dark humour in it. One of the funniest lines is where the excellent Guy Pearce stabs him with something and Carlisle says "that was really, sneaky"  Brilliant!!! The whole film is given a real edge by Damon Albarns excellent, but very threatning and unsettling score . Love it!!

While I used to post reviews of Horrors on this Thread and on my thread, recently I have just stuck to doing it on mine....but really need to recommend this horror which is the best of the year....

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY

                                                "Hold your breath....
                                                    make a wish......
                                                   count to three...
                                                   come with me
and You'll be......in a world of pure imagination.....
                                take a look.....and you see........into your imagination...

                                                  We'll begin.....with a spin....
travelling in the world of my creation....
what we see see will defy EXPLANATION..."

"PURE IMAGINATION" from The Film Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory

No I am not losing my marbles but if any song summed up what this horror has to offer, then I can not think of any other than the one sung by a certain Wonka.

As make no mistake about it, for a film that cries out for your Imagination to go into overdrive, then this is it.  A superb horror film that fully deserves all the plaudits it as been getting.

Just when you thought the camcorder horror theme had run its course, out comes this simple tale of boyfriend and girlfriend who upon hearing certain things that go bump in the night, set up a camera in their bedroom, to film what quite goes on, when their eyes are shut and into the world of sleep,  As each night passes, the noises become more severe, and soon the couples worst nightmares come true as they realise they in a position that they could never ever imagine........

I can not describe how after I have finished watching this film, that I totally adore it.  A wonderful simple premise that fills you with dread and stays long after the final credits roll.   Comparisons with the Blair Witch is of course fully justified.  In fact you can actually say that this is the sequel that the 1998 classic fully deserved.  But while  their overall themes are identical, I found Paranormal Activity outdoes the Witch for scares and settings.  Maybe its the constant theme of Hikers in peril, but while I love Blair and will always stick up for it and still say it deserves the 5 out of 5 I give it, watching it recently, I found myself having no sympathy for the three who ventured into the woods.  I mean they were just asking for it weren't they? They were warned enough before they left their car and lost their map.

Here its different.  We have a young couple, trapped in the confines of their home or in this case bedroom, with nowhere to go and no place to hide.  Those who snigger and say "Well they should just leave!" are clearly not paying enough attention to the script.  Even if they left, they will not get away, it gives a claustrophobic feel to the film that makes the viewer feel trapped like them.

Others will remark that nothing much happens!  But it does!  I never found myself bored once with the day scenes, as the entire premise had me hooked as I dreaded with them as night approaches.

Its them who criticise are those whose Imagination failed them.  As soon as the camera switched to night mode, my mind raced at what was to come.  Every shadow was transfixed into my mind, every creak hit my ear drums as the couple slept and I was their watching eye.  Each passing night becoming more freaky and scary.  If my tiny brain was thinking horrible things, it makes you realise why the mind that give us Jaws and E.T. was so scared of this film.

And what scares they are!  The -without spoiling- "Standing watching!" moment is my highlight of the year.  A scene so simple with design, that it left me uncomfortable, then of course the moment when the first big terror arrives and like her boyfriend, I was shocked and speechless......

Just to confuse everyone, the version I saw, was the original cut with the ending that as now been changed.  The ending here was abrupt and quite staggering, as all of the terror was off camera.  My first initial thought was "Is that it!", but then thoughts entered my mind and I realised it was perfect.  No explanation, just left with a feeling of "shit!" in a good way.  The new version as an ending which was thought of by the great man himself Steven Spielberg and its been described and I quote...."Weird, unsettling and very memorable!"....

If it is, then it can only enhance this film further.  The new Blair Witch? Heck! its safe to say that the bitch in the woods as a new contender for her throne.  Its that good.  A horror that surpasses all of 2009.  A genuine frightening camcorder horror flick that does everything you want and need in a horror.

OVERALL: Totally genuine scares and a frightening concept...a 2009 classic horror ......5 out of 5

The story goes that Steven Speliberg had to knock Paranormal Activity off in the night and only could only finish the viewing after the sun came up.  Its a claim that he does not deny....if he can get swept away then my praise is fully justified.

The film is only as scary as you let it, but I am telling you and I do not care who disagrees, its the best horror I have seen for a long time.  How can a viewer be scared at scenes of a bedroom door opening and closing on its own? but the brutal simplicity of the film is wonderful and makes those basic ideas freaky and scary.

It owes so much to Blair Witch but outdoes it for sheer terror.  Fans of that bitch in the woods will welcome this with open arms as its that good.

Great reviews as always HR. Paranormal Activity really doesnt appeal to me though mate, despite the praise, i like my movies to be movies, and not pretend documentaries. ESPECIALLY when it comes to horror (still trying to forget the abomination of crap that is Welcome To The Jungle).

I'm currently rewatching Urban Legends: Final Cut! Awesome movie!!

Random fact time: I bought My Little Eye (2 Disc) and some film called Beneath...it's got some dudes from Stargate SG-1 in so I got it, I'm not expecting much to be honest, it says MTV Films on the cover...

I bought the 2 disk edition of My Little Eye on its first release. A great film

Even if the horror and acting side of this movie is shit, I still have hope that it'll still be fun movie to watch

well horror fans, i am a huge slash lover but have been catching up recently on a few classic horrors i have missed. Yesterday i watched The Exorcist for the first time and throroughly enjoyed it. I'm not overly crazy about the slow 70's horror movie in general but this is obviously a very well made and very strong movie. Am watching the second one now, although its 3.5/10 rating on IMDB doesnt bode well.

Is the third one supposed to be good? I hear a lot of talk about a longer version that has never been released or something?

Can any Exorcist fans confirm whether its possible to watch the movies (for the first time) in the order that they are presented in the Exorcist collection? IE the two prequels first (which surely are ultimately more or less the same movie?) and then the original Exorcist, and then the rest. I was tempted to do it this way, but ultimately decided to do it in the order they were made.
