As much as I wanted to hate the new guest character, as the "replacement" for JJ, I have to admit I quite liked her and wouldn't mind if she became a series regular. Or maybe I'm just a sucker for all the obvious Silence of the Lambs references.
Plus, Rachel Nichols is hot.

She looks exactly like a young Jodie Foster - but hotter!

New girl was in Star Trek '09 and G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra. She's cute.

I've been watching season 2 eps on Living again and I've come to the following conclusions-

1- I miss Gideon. As much as I like Rossi (and Joe 'Fat Tony' Mantegna) he just doesn't have the same authority. Gideon was in charge, Rossi is just part of the team (and does very little)
2- I don't miss Elle. I love Emily now and forgot just how annoying I found Greenaway.
3- Hotch does smile! And especially when Garcia makes a quip.
4- Even poor episodes of the show are bloody good tv. Season 2 stands as one of the best.
5- James 'Dawson' Van Der Beek can be bloody scary when he wants to be.

I find myself catching random episodes on Living, Channel One and RTE all the time and I always end up watching at least some of them. I don't miss Gideon or Elle, I much prefer Rossi and Prentiss, but they've all been in some cracking episodes.
I've just introduced CM to one of my friends and she's so excited to have 5 and a half seasons to plough through, though she's annoyed now that she knows JJ will eventually leave because of my plentiful complaining about the situation! (As an aside, AJ Cook is guesting in SVU with Jeremy Irons. She confirmed it on Twitter.)

The 1st new ep of 2011 aired last night and I found it disappointing and mediocre. I don't mind Rachel Nichol's character, but having her being part of the group giving the profile just smacks of insconsistency and bad writing to me. It's been the case before that you have to be a seasoned agent to join the BAU (unless you're a genius, like Reid) so her tagging along is just stupid. Plus Silence of the Lambs did it all better...
I think this may be the last season of CM I watch because it's just not as good any more.

Was that the repeat of last Friday's episode on last night?

No, this was the new episode in the US, I think it's about 9 or 10 ahead of Living.

While I agree with you, around 12 million viewers in America don't. I don't think it'll be the last season unless that figure drops to at least half before the end of this current run.

I used to love the show (I still love older seasons) but this season has been very 'meh'.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure CM will be picked up for season 7 (though who knows if the spin-off will make it), but I won't be watching. They've already booted out JJ and I know a little about what is going to happen later in this series, neither of which make me want to watch any more. I'll stick to the earlier seasons.

I agree and I think I may join you. And the spin-off is going to fail, I'm guessing.

I've just seen the one where JJ leaves and it still baffles me why they decided to write her out.

I've just watched the latest episode and I don't think I have ever used the word 'awful' to describe an ep of CM before, but holy shit, that was a bad episode. The identity of the unsub was evident the minute they first appreared on screen despite it supposedly being a mystery.  And what purpose does Rachel Nichols' character serve, exactly? Can't she train on the cases we don't see?

Rossi's line 'well this is not good' was great, though.

Nope, not at all. I didn't even know that is what they were using

Apparently, some cast members aren't happy with the new spin-off coming soon-

I want Dr Reid's mother to make another appearance. Now she's indelibly Sue Sylvester, it'll be interesting to see her back in a more muted character again.

Didn't realise that it was the same woman. I'd quite like to see Diana return to Criminal Minds, too.

Saw the crossover episode the other day. not holding out much hope for the spin off.

I've never rated forrent Whittiker, I'm sure he's been good in many movies I haven't seen, but to me he's that guy from Species...also you look ill eat a pie.

The English bloke is a bit too smug and spends more time on rooftops than Batman. I know they are not the most realistic shows in the world, but when trying to find a missing girl and unsub, your first thought shouln't be " I'll head up to the roof with a sniper rifle"....unless you are a sniper.

Possibly they will go the route of NCIS and make the spin off as daft as a bag of inbread doorknobs, but really not holding out much hope.

I honestly don't know why I even bother any more. Episode 13 was poor; far too much time spent with the unsubs and not enough with team. Also, now they've introduced someone from Emily's past who wants to kill her and they introduced it in such a ham-fisted way they might as well have had a flashing neon sign saying "you're going to die (probably)" above her head. The only plus I can think of was the lack of Seaver.

Spoilers for Bones (yes, Bones) S06E11 ---> Anyone else double take when they saw the police woman at the start of this episode of Criminal Minds? I'd just watched the latest Bones episode, and watched the actress get her head blown off. Was kinda weird seeing her in an episode of something else, as a police officer not a criminal, and immediately after getting killed!<---

Well, after hating last week's episode, I really enjoyed episode 14 and it wasn't all because of the extra Emily screentime!
I don't like where her storyline seems to be going though...

I haven't minded the last two episodes actually, anything is better that that fucking 'voodoo' episode.

I don't like where this Emily plot seems to be going either....

I was waiting for the guy to talk into his mirror, shave his hair into a mohawk, and attempt to assassinate a Senator...

That aside, I liked it - nice and creepy.

Incidentally, are they hoping we'll forget Random Reid Headaches, or did they explain that and I missed it?

Yeah, this is the season of ripoffs of Jodie Foster films.

Indeed. I like Rachel Nichols, but having Seaver come on board doesn't ring true. It's also a slap in the face to AJ Cook to replace her with a doppelganger profiler. If they wanted to they could have had JJ finally decide to take the profiling classes that the other characters have mentioned she's more than capable of.
