The first film I`ve watched from the World Cinema Criterion box. It`s a Senegalese film from the 70s in wich we follow Mory`s difficult life and his dream to move to France to built a new life with his girlfriend there.
It`s shot in documentary style and looks gorgeous, accompanied by great music. But because of the lack of a real story and that little bit of story that is present fails to interest me much, this gives more a "wow that looks pretty" than a "wow that`s a great film" feeling.
There`s enough beautiful stuff that probably will be enjoyed better upon repeated viewings.

6,0/10

Just watched an Amazing Indian Movie "IRUVAR" what a great movie. You guys watch it you wont be disappointed. Better have some basic knowledge of the background you can enjoy the film more. Based on true events in India politics where film world plays an important role. These 3 poeple (Actor MGR - Karunanithi - Actress Jayalalitha) feature in this film, read some basic article about them and watch the movie.

Some of the best current Crime fiction is coming from Scandinavia, and is being adapted into first rate films:

The Keeper Of Lost Causes 4/5 (From the first Department Q novel by Jussi Adler-Olsen.)

Headhunters 4/5 and Jackpot 5/5 (From Jo Nesbo.) Jackpot is kind of like the Coen Brothers on overdrive.
