First things first, to get the book, you must fight...
To the death?
No. To the pain.
I don't think I'm quite familiar with that phrase.
I'll explain and I'll use small words so that you'll be sure to understand, you warthog faced buffoon.
That may be the first time in my life a man has dared insult me.
It won't be the last. To the pain means the first thing you will lose will be your feet below the ankles. Then your hands at the wrists. Next your nose.
And then my tongue I suppose, I killed you too quickly the last time. A mistake I don't mean to duplicate tonight.
I wasn't finished. The next thing you will lose will be your left eye followed by your right.
And then my ears, I understand let's get on with it.
WRONG. Your ears you keep and I'll tell you why. So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God! What is that thing," will echo in your perfect ears. That is what to the pain means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.
I think your bluffing.
It's possible, Pig, I might be bluffing. It's conceivable, you miserable, vomitous mass, that I'm only lying here because I lack the strength to stand. But, then again... perhaps I have the strength after all.
Now.. FIGHT ... FOR ... THE ... BOOK!

So, having just moved to Bristol, and knowing there are a fair few of forumites who live here (or within convenient distance), I wondered who'd be up for a forum meet? Could meet up for a few drinks, see a film (duh...), grab some nosh, more drinks. Could be a good night out. I've met up before with a) online folks from other forums, and b) people from this forum. Most of them were harmless...

Who'd be up for a Bristolian meet?

I can't believe a Princess Bride quote previously killed off this thread. Inconceivable.

Finally saw Let The Right One In at The Watershed last Thurs. Twas very good.

Regarding a Bristol meet.... ooooh scary. My mystique would be forever shattered.... so what's on at the Watershed/Arnoldfini in the near future? I live/work 20-30mins walk from both.

Ooh, the Watershed is showing Pierrot Le Fou from May 22nd! And they're showing Synecdoche, New York too.

Ill be up for seeing both of those

As for the next week at the watershed:
Friday 24th April - Ode to joy
Friday 24th April - sometime in May - In the city of Sylvia
24th April - sometime in May - Encounters at the end of the world
Now - sometime in May - In the loop
Sunday 26th April - My Nikifor

Me and Homer have already arranged to meet for My Nikifor on sunday, but anyone else is welcome to join us  (I say that without actually asking Homer if it would be ok ). Also, im probably going to go see Ode to joy on my own friday  so if anyone wants to feel sorry for me and meet up for a drink before the film, then that would be great.

Ill post another list of film in a minute for May - I know the Arnolfini and Watershed are both having a Polish season at the moment, so im fine to see any of the films showing.

Modern life - 1st May - 7th May
Voices from El Sayed - Sat 9th May only
A matter of life and death - Sun 10th May only
O'Horten - 8th May - at least the 21st
Cheri - 8th May - at least the 21st
Synecdoche New York - 15th May
Momma's man - 8th May - at least the 21st

Arnolfini:

Ha, I was thinking a similar thing. Would be easier to put username-to-face-to-real-name...

If any of you are worried about your mystique being shattered, let me make it easier for you: you have no mystique.

So, if you are up for some sort of meet, cut and paste and add your name to this list:

-------------8<--------------

The following would like to go to a meet, pending confirmation of a date:
