To answer Maffew, Bristol is great, I love it!

But then, I wasn't raised here, cos I reckon people from Bristol will say it's shit, just like people from most places say the places they are from are shit...

If that makes sense.

People that have visited have told me great things. I'm looking to move somewhere with a good creative scene - London's perfect, but it's hard to network because it's so big and everyone's so up their arses..I heard there's a big art scene in Bristol, and the nightlife's ace..

Cinemas are good too.

We have, over the next few months, showings of L'histoire du cinema, Get Carter (with a talk by Mike Hodges), John Boorman doing a talk, as well as frequent retrospectives and so forth. Why, I've seen a few silent films with live accompaniment, French New Wave, etc, in the year I've lived here.

Bigmurds is your guy for art-related stuff, I believe.

Yep. Murds is very much in the know about the art scene in Bristol. Check out http://www.upfest.co.uk/ for the event(s) that his involved in.

Guess who's been fired/made redundant? Me!

So this means I have to find a new job in the world of writing/online editing.

I don't suppose you good people know of any/have any contacts etc etc?

Help..... Daddy has bills.

major pain in the ass - had the same happen to me about a month ago.

have you tried Linked-in, it's quite a good business centric social networking site.

also the Bristol-Media website has a job advert or two every so often

Ther'e nothing to it really just get on the M32 and BAM! you'll find yourself in the city centre.

Although you are driving from Norfolk, so watch out for the horseless carriages, we call them cars. I'm sure one'll go through your neck of the woods eventually

At least if I get the job the accents will be familiar (I am still trying to work out why a West Country accent sounds like a Norfolk one?)

Just wondering if anyone else got tickets for the Watershed's Film Quiz night on the 28th. I just called and there were only two left.... so I got them. Me and my mate will have to be a force unto ourselves!

Tried to go to the last one with Homer and TRM, but they were oversubscribed so had to turn people away. People were hilariously angry about it, this woman was all like "HOW DARE THEY NOT LET ME PLAY A QUIZ!!"

Apparantly it is because of that, that it is now tickets only and greatly pared down.

Next time we should join forces and rule the roost, so to speak.

Do you usually have to book for one-off showings at the Watershed? In particular the Saturday/Sunday films.

Depends on how popular the film/event is I guess. And whether it's showing in Cinema 2, aka, the tiny screen.

I can never get to the lovely Sunday Brunch theme screenings.

Cool. Yeah, it's the Sunday Brunch ones I'm looking to see more of, which are Cinema One.  I've missed the chance to see some of my favourite films on the big screen (Mulholland Drive, Stalker, In the Mood For Love amongst others) due to there only being one showing.
