A little birdie tells me that BBC2 will be kicking off with a Heroes double-bill on July 25th.  Clear your diaries, people!  This will then become the BBC-speed thread, for anyone watching it.

Please note:  I know a lot of you will have probably seen it on download or Sci-Fi Channel, and I offer these words of caution to you...

ANY spoilers in this thread, minor or otherwise, may result in the poster involved being taken outside and shot!

Obviously the episodes which have been broadcast on BBC2 are open for discussion though!

yeah, I heard BBC have exclusive rights to show series 2, which is good, no ad breaks every 5 minutes for you UK viewers

Question - will S1 be running straight into S2 or is there going to be a big old gap because I'd think that, after showing all 23 eps of  S1, then they'll be at least 6-8 weeks in in the US

(Mods, I have created this thread as there are heavy spoilers in the other two, and I couldn't find another one.  If there is one, by all means lock this.)

It's fine as far as I'm concerned as I think we need a spoiler free BBC 2 thread.  I stopped watching it on the sci-fi channel as I knew I was going to get rid of Sky

I haven't seen any trailers for it as yet though.

Unfortunately, I'd assume the impact of the BBC 2 purchase is a long delay before showing it. Terrestrial don't often get it up to speed. Mind you - if they take on the lesson C4 learnt about downloading - showing it so close to the US schedule there is no point - you might be lucky. But that also depends on the US sorting out their ridiculous scheduling too.

Season 2 starts in the US in the fall (autumn).
Unfortunately, Sci-Fi wont be showing Season 2 cos of the BBC buy up. I think.
As I understand it, BBC2 will show all of Season 1 from July, then show Season 2 at the start of next year.
That sound right?

December 20th.  So, I think, after BBC finishes the run.  I think.  Stupid Maths.

Fair point.  I  just figured that it would be region 2 in a BBC thread, but you're responding to someone on the US speed (no, not like that)  so it does make sense.  My bad.

That does indeed sound correct.  This is the first series that will be showing from 25th July.  Hopefully there won't be a massive delay between series.  I think I'm also going to watch it again from the start, sans adverts, much better.

I really hope the BBC buckle and start showing season 2 a little earlier than next year! I've got a complete lack of shows to watch for the rest of this year now that my beloved Lost and Heroes have finished.

Once the BBC have shown all 23(?) episodes of series 1 it takes you to the end of 2007 anyway, so if they are screening series 2 at the beginning of next year it could well be that they'll run fairly close together.  Good.  I'll probably watch from the beginning again on BBC2 just to appreciate the full episode without ghastly Eidos adverts...

True, but I was hoping they may do a few 'double feature' weeks, which BBC2 does quite a lot with american timed programs. 1 hour 30 mins is a lot easier to schedule around than 45 mins, I'd have thought.

After series 2, sky one will inevitably purchase the show if it remains successful. Sky will definitely want to keep it as close to the american broadcast as possible - as it worked well with Lost.

Well you have to expect it nowadays Pettsy, they've done it with countless shows like X-Files. Lost, Nip/Tuck to name just 3.

Get the show to build up a base on terristrial i.e. the largest possible audience, then buy it up when people are addicted so that they have to buy Sky!

Well if Virgin Media gets taken over by this new provate equity company as has been reported, the genereal consensus is that they will try to get sky one back...

I think Sky just got first run rights with X-Files, they did show all of them on the Beeb. Well, as far as I know - I bailed after series 3 so can't be too sure...
