Shocking that there is not already a thread, for the band that re-invented guitar music in the 90's! If you don't know the band,do yourself a favour and go out and buy the album Loveless.

Almost everyonne i've played Loveless to over the years just don't seem to be able to get into.
I love it though.

That film was pretty shit. Not nearly enough gore in it.

Oh wait. Are we talking about the Good Charlotte song?

Apparently Kevin Shields has stated that MBV will 100% make a new album. I presume by the time it's ready they will actually be able to beam it straight into our brains.

I have an entire section in my CD collection for bands that sound like MBV.

Loveless is just about my favourite album.

Asobi Seksu have just had their first album released in the UK - if you like MBV you can't go wrong with it!

I saw Asobi Seksu last month in Brighton, they were really good live.  They supported Dean Wareham & Britta Phillips - who did a couple of Galaxie 500 tracks - Strange in particular was awesome, it was really weird to be in the same room as the mythical Dean Wareham.

I have just bought their new album which is really good, I am also listening to Lessons in Crime by Tokyo Police Club and Wincing the night away by the shins.

I think it is sometimes good to take my attention away from 90's shoegazing bands (which tend to take up a lot of my attention).

Hmmm. My friend is a cousin of Kevin Shields and met him last week at a family reunion thing. He was told MBV'd be touring next year, and they're definitely hitting Dublin on it, so I just cannot miss that gig.

There was this news earlier this month about a 'new' MBV album in the works, which is all rather intriguing:

I heard rumours that they're playing Electric Picnic in September....I sure hope they're true. I love "Loveless" and "Isn't Anything" so much....and "You Made Me Realise" kicks ass

Yup, they've been confirmed for EP. Oxegen have R.E.M., Kings of Leon and Rage Against The Machine though, a pretty formidable lineup of headline acts, it must be said.

Shields has said there will be new material this year, whether that will happen this year or not who knows, as long as it's good when it gets to us. What is annoying is a while ago a 5cd boxset of the albums, B sides, the EP's and rarities was announced for release, then that seemed to be shelved and these new remastered versions of the albums were announced and are coming out. I'm pleased they are as a remastered version of Isn't anything and Loveless would be sublime, but I would love for the B sides, rarities and EP collection to see the light of day sometime soon. I did hear speak of a straightforward EP collection... I guess we'll have to wait.

Just read an interview with Shields in NME in which he claims the new album's virtually finished and should be out in December, followed by an EP and tour in the new year.
I don't believe him but we can always dream.
