didnt like either hostel movies,the second was worse.though i did like the ending more than the end to the first one! as much as i hate there to be too much gore as it just gets to a point where people get bored and have seen it all before, in this one there wasnt really that much!

I thought both Hostel films get a bad rap. Hostel is just doing what it does and I was entertained (we all know there are lots of films which are excessively sadistic) unlike Saw which promised much nastiness (and disappointed) as well as the ingenuity of seven (really disappointed). I expected Hostel to be a tits and ass splatterfest, and was pleasantly suprised to see that it even threw in bit of hitchcock (trench coat, driving gloves, got to get on that train). Then Hostel pt 2 just followed straight on (loved the Friday 13th pt 2 homage) continued the story, then closed it.
The Saw films just drag on and on and on thinking that they are a lot smarter and grown up then they actually are.

Eli Roth really gets on my tits though. Sorry Eli, I'm just jealous I've never met Miike.

yeah the saw films do drag on a bit,considering there are four and really the only good one was the first one!!
Hostel just seemed to be a bit of a mess really,it kinda started the whole 'horror porn' genre,and it just got a bit silly towards the second one.i like the ideaof them bidding on the girls.but end of the day it was near enough the same as the second one just with girls!

Just finished watching this five minutes ago, wasn't arsed going to the cinema to see it. I thought the first film was atrocious in every possible way and this was only slightly better. Eli Roth has zero talent as far as I can see, he talks a good game but he sure can't put a decent film together. Woeful.

I watched this all the way through the other day and after writing such a brash review the other day before watching all of it i decided to write another one. i actually have to say that this was better than the ifrst when watching the first one i couldn't even drink water beuase of how sick i felt at the time. However the second one is tamer and i dont understnad why so many people said this was so perverted. Its no more than the first one and hte first one is soaked in gore every inch of the frame. All in all i have to say that this was more bearable to watch but not really a great film all the same.

I have to say I hate the 'torture' porn phrase that the press made up. It's a silly name for the genre. Hostel and Hostel 2 are straight up horror movies. Now I am not having a go at anyone who dislikes them. I however think they are solid little genre flicks. I actually found part 2 much more hard to watch than the original becuase the violence this time around is dished out to women. However it has a lot of great nod's to the horror genre throughout. I loved the 'Friday the 13th 2' style opening and the female cast which harks back to early Argento and Gallo movies. The fact Roth decides to portray the other side of the Hostel, the point of view of the client is also a cool twist. All in all a solid addition to the franchise but I feel the story is done and they should stop at 2. Roth on the other hand is another story. I am not fan of him of late. I do think he has become a victim of his own hype and I got that impression after the release of Cabin Fever which was criminally overhyped. That film did not know what it wanted to be. Anyhow from what I hear Roth is done with horror now.

the two hostel movies are some of the best horror films iv ever seen i think that movies lke canibal holocaust, seven, saw, audition and this really bring a realism to the horror genre that nobody has done before. when people first saw the exorsist people left the cinema being sick and that is now seen as a classic thats the samwe as these movies they are makeing new ground in horro and they may nt be apreceated that much now but in time they will be seen as benchmarks in the genre.

It's hard to express my pure hatred for one Eli Roth. After being subjected to the godawful and bewilderingly well-recieved Cabin fever, I was pleasantly surprised with Hostel. Okay, I'm not into the sick violence and torture porn, but I found the twist quite intellegent for a man of Roth's standing. It wasn't the best film by any stretch of the imagination, but it was quite clever. It is for this reason that I had high(ish) hopes for Part II. Alas, I was foolish for expexting more than depressing scenes of extreme violence, wafer-thin plotting and an all-round air of detestability. I was very nearly sick, but not because of the violence: simply for the reason that the censors allowed this shameless, vulgar and abominable piece of mind-numbing badness to pass through. You can see how some people can become messed up by watching this shit. I know, I know, complaining about violence in a Hostel movie is like complaining of the dampness of water, but it was completely and unnecessarily graphic. Roth, I get your point, and you could have been so much cleverer and more effective if you weren't so violent. That fucking scene with hte scythe... Shit... You are a sick fucking bastard. You should be ashamed of yourself. Less is more, man... Less is more...

This film sucks. It's boring, slow, never scary or tense, and the gore never really reaches the levels that the first one did. Whole thing seems to only get going for about ten minutes then just ends abruptly. The only bit that was remotely disturbing was the bit with the cannibal guy eating the guys leg.

First of all this film is not as sadistic as it is made out to be. Of course it has its gory bits but what else would you expect from a horror film. Although I wouldn't describe it as particularly scary it is very entertaining, well acted, clever, thrilling and rather enjoyable. Definitely worth a buy.

While I give the film credit for diving more into this sick business world, Hostel: Part II however goes way over the top on the gore and makes the film more sick to watch than gripping.
