Hurrah, I thought I was the only person who thought so. Don't get me wrong, the first two were well put together FPSs, and the Chief's over the top heroics in the second one were entertaining enough but the storylines weren't up to much and all in it can't really touch Half Life for shooty goodness.

I've never played a Halo game so I couldn't give a fluff about the single player. It's the online side of things that's got my mangina wet.

Even the multiplayer (the only thing I played to any extent) wasnt the best. Maybe its because I wasnt as good as the nOObKillaz but it just got boring.

You played the Beta didn't you? It was truly awful.

Wasn't really arsed about this game until i just watched this:

http://www.gametrailers.com/game/alan-wake/1608

The police escape footage.  It's lookin really good.   Wish the helicopter at the end of the second vid would  have come and crashed towards the camera, "hollywood style" and the graphics aren't as big of a deal as they once were but for some reason im suddenly sitting up and taking notice.

Just hope it doesnt turn out like silent hill, i know that series has its fans but i got pretty tired of it after the first one.

That's strange, becuase SH2 was the best one.

Holy crap I can't believe I said that! I'm all about the single player now (of any game, not just Halo). Wierd. I think living with my girlfriend and having to be in work in Liverpool at 8a.m. put paid to my online playing days.

The birth of my 2nd child in January had the same effect for me. I barely ever go online anymore so any game I buy has to have a solid singleplayer. That's pretty much why I'm in no rush to get MW2.

That clip of Alan Wake does look great, I can't believe this is actually getting released. I though it was Vaporware for sure by the middle of last year.

Gameplay footage looks awesome.

This has leapfrogged Mass Effect 2 as my most wanted game of next year.

The words "David Lynch" and "Twin Peaks" being used as a comparison only heighten my enthusiam.

I daren't look forward to it or it might get fucking delayed again.

At the start of this thread (way back in 07) I had a top 5 of my most eagerly anticipated games that included Mass Effect and Bioshock as well as Alan Wake. If I were to do a top 5 of my most eagerly anticipated games now it would include Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 as well as Alan Wake.

Best not to tempt fate in my experience .

Alan Wake is content complete now though.  They're just using the time between now and when it goes gold to polish it up.

I'd really love to know the reason(s) for the continual delays. Something about this game leaves me feeling like it will merely be OK, which isn't good enough after the game was announced almost FIVE YEARS ago. We should have not only had this game but also a sequel by now.

Apparently there's a free-roaming aspect of the game where you're free to walk around the town and interact with NPCs and such like. I'm thinking that this is the reason for the delays as Remedy (the devs) want a tight scripted and episodic gameplay experience, which is hard to do with free-roaming. According to the Wiki page it'll be a GTA style free-roaming experience rather than say Silent Hill or Batman: Arkham Asylum.

I just heard from Amazon that Alan Wake has been delayed AGAIN to 28th May 2010. Is this game ever going to be released?!

Wasn't this a release title for the 360? I remember one of it's main selling points was a day and night cycle and dynamic lighting.... wow...

I believe it was initially announced as a release title for the 128k ZX Spectrum, where the promise of crisp monochrome graphics, in game music and a comparatively short 10 minute loading time caused a ripple of anticipation......

I don't recall it having a set released date, just Spring 2010.  May is in the Spring.

Well at least it will get released at all, I was expecting never the hear of this one again. They're talking about DLC though, so it must be ready soon.

Please lord release this freaking game. Of course, irony of ironies is that it'll end up getting 5/10 reviews or something.

His jacket is sooo 2005.....

Can't see this being a 5/10'er, it's been in development for the same system for 5 years. Regardless of what was changed in that time the core systems/ideas "should" have had ample polishing.

Yeah but Too Human was in design since about 1995 and look how that turned out!

I am trying not to be too down on this, I actually like the look of it and need a decent new horror title... I'm just naturally wary of 'over' developed games, they almost never work out very well.

Awake will never be released.

That should make sure it is released soon following the laws of 'I wish you wouldnt have said that'.

And whose betting that the main character will turn out to be in a coma?

5 years isn't that bad for a big RPG but I know what you mean. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Alan Wake, you never know.

Now that you mention it, it has got that "guy in a coma" kind of feel to it.
