Spoiler for anyone who doesn't know the history (highlight):
do you think they making Brutus into a sympathetic character so when he gets killed by Octavian's men we will feel regret ? End.

the gay sex does not bother me as it actually necessary to the plot. The pretty slave boy was set up to get into Attia's house so had to sell his sexuality to get in and the Avatian Hill civil war was because of homosexual rivalry

Sorry, just thought I'd invisio that just in case anyone's not aware of it - hope you understand.

the first gay sex scene was not needed, it was merely an addon to another scene.

i cnt believe the produces have lost the straight sex appeal and move to gay sex!

I'm probably going to regret this, but what is your problem with those scenes? they were hardly dragged out unnecessarily, were they? also, make up your mind, would you? you complain that there's been 'a lack of sex' then you complain because it's between two men.

The trailer for Sunday's episode looks good.

well its the first time we've viewed this type of er, fornication isnt it. there was none - to my recollection - in the first season. they could have done the same to sort out rivalries in the first season. that didnt seem to happen though did it.

meh - maybe im just lacking in porn.

cnt wait for next episode - and they did kill the atia death/surival with the trailer. damn them!

I missed the last episode and now i'm behind and confused. What happened? In summary, apart from Vorenus' kids being alive? Brutus and Cassius? Octavian?

Without going into too much detail as that would be a spoiler Brutus whined a bit and I can't remember which one Cassius is and Octavian wasn't in this episode.

Well, they got round the fact we all thought Atia got the poison very neatly, didn't they?

Also, it was weird seeing a different actor playing Octavian.

I agree about Octavian (Caesar, now). Very strange. Cracking end. That slave camp was so brutal it makes you question how any body could do that to a fellow human being. Shocking.

In war room with Octavian there was Agrippa and was the other fella Maecenas?

A good likeness though I thought.  Good casting.

I was wondering how they were going to get round the poisoning as well.  I did keep wondering how long it would take to show when the girl was singing.

I'm glad that Atia's henchman (can't remember his name) couldn't go through with the torture of Sevilla which hopefully means for revenge from her.  Nice to see Atia get her come uppance although I rather suspect that will come in the appearance of Octavia

I was thinking that during those two torture scenes as well.

Erm, probably.  Isn't he the one Octavian was going to stay with after Antony had given him that beating?

Anyone else think it strange that Pullo didn't recognise Octavian? Fair enough, the actor was changed to show he'd aged exactly how much time has passed? It hasn't been that long.

I thought it was more the helmet with the face flaps that almost entirely obscured his face? Not to mention he, like most, would have assumed Anthony would win in battle.

last night episode had some classic scenes but I love the fact the budget never ever stretches to showing any battles - just leaving it your imagination

From the trailer they showed tonight it looks like there might be one in Sunday's episode.

To be honest I'd like to see at least one big battle before the series has finished, so it's looking promising.

I wasn't really buying the transition in actor with Octavian. It wasn't the acting, as the new guy was quite excellent, but he seemed to be playing a very different character: as sharp, but much less arrogant. A better character in some ways (I loved the scene in the Senate) - I'm not sure if it was just the writing of the character that was different.

I would assume they did write it a little differently as he's allegedly older now and will have learnt some humility.  One thing I don't get though is that they mentioned last night that he's only 19 and therefore too young to be a consul, so why couldn't the original actor have continued playing him?

Also, I hope Mark Antony hasn't got a beard in Sunday's episode as it just looked wrong.

I'm going to guess the humility now shown in Octavian comes from his beating from Antony. And i quite liked Antony's beard. He'll get rid of it when they go somewhere hotter.

So, who was complaining there wasn't enough sex in Rome anymore...?

MAGNIFICENT episode last night, I loved it!! Atia just gets better and better - her timing was perfect, so obviously manipulating both Anthony and Octiavian and they both think they can outsmart her...I feel like appluading aloud everytime she's on screen!

I'm warming to Octavian version 2.0 - I think the character-transition was a lot smoother this episode than in earlier ones, where he seemed a bit stitled and not as sharp as Octavian version 1.

One thing, what were they smoking at the orgy? Still weed? 'Cos seeing the walls melt seemed a bit more opium to me, but I didn't tknow if the Romans had that or not...

I think he looked more of a kid than that - which I guess isn't fair if he is a lot older than he looked!

And it's Cicero in the Senate.  Name sticks with me as that's Maximus's buddy in Gladiator.

I'm really looking forward to a big ass-kicking war. Hope it's not the finale, though - I need more!

Well, as i know the period, depending upon how far they go i very much doubt it will be the finale. This will be Phillipi.

There are ten episodes in season 2. I think ye're on number 5. The new Octavian is great. I think he's less outwardly arrogant as he has learned to keep his cards close to his chest.

the Greeks were using opium back in the late bronze age so i would presume that the Romans would have had access to it also

actually i was hoping the Sevilla would meet her maker.  Say what you wish of Atia, she may be a bitch but she doesn't hide it, if she's got a problem with you she'll let you know.  Sevilla on the other hand is sly, she'll smile and recieve you at one moment and then stab you once your back is turned.
