The Rock Band community has been chomping at the bit for more Iron Maiden, and we're excited to tell you we finally got the band to make available to you guys 12 of the classic songs they played on the recent 'Somewhere Back in Time' world tour. These are all original master recordings combining the classic album tracks with awesome live recordings from the band's critically acclaimed documentary 'Flight 666'. You'll be able to get your hands on these tracks on June 9th, but until then feel free to drool over this set list:
- Aces High (Live)
- Two minutes to midnight
- The Trooper
- Wasted Years
- The number of the beast
- Run to the hills
- Can I play with madness
- The Clarivoyant
- Powerslave
- Fear of the dark (live)
- Hallowed be thy name (live)
- Iron Maiden (live)"

WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!  I'm buying Rock Band
now.

Can't wait to play these.

Didn't see this mentioned yet, but it's definitely one of my most-anticipated games of the year now... you can use the original controllers, but take a look at these:

I'm aware it's a gimmick that will probably get old quick, and there's not exportability with this and RB2, but - it's so lovely....

I read something about the songs they picked aren't neccessairy the most popular ones, but are the most fun to play.

That's a good idea, a fair of their best-known songs don't really strike me as Rock Band material (I'm not expecting many guitar solos...) but there's a good few there that'll be great fun. I can't wait to have a few mates around to drunkenly attempt While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Being a huge Beatles fan I've just preordered this, the full limited edition kit anyway.  I'm just wondering, I've never played Rock Band before as I've always had Guitar Hero.  I love Guitar Hero, so how does Rock Band stack up?  Better or worse?  How does a solo game work on Rock Band, do I just choose to sing, drum or play guitar? Can I sing and drum?  Can a group game just be one guitar and drums?

Everything I've heard so far about Beatles Rock Band is positive and it looks great.  My only worry is that, compared to Guitar Hero, the game screen looks really busy and may potentially be confusing.  What do you think? How does Rock Band play?

As for the song choices, I think it's a great mash up of the more popular tunes and some really unexpected beauties.  Can't wait to fuck up Dear Prudence and I'm Looking Through You.

Also, I haven't pre-ordered a game via Play for aaaaaages, can I expect it on Wednesday 9th or before?

You can play it solo or as a band (you'll need a mike stand if you want to sing/play drums though), and if you're playing as a band you don't need to use all the instruments. I've never really had a problem with the layout, the vocals go across the top and the three instruments get a good third of the screen each - I'd imagine this would be harder on a small screen, but I've always found it to be just fine. Dear Prudence will be great, definitely (Helter Skelter's going to be awesome too).

Cheers.

The kit I've got does come with the mic stand so thats cool.  I just really, really can't wait to get hold of it and start playing.  The rewards in story mode sound ace too.  How does Rock Band react to piss poor singers?! I can't wait to get everyone round for beer, pizza and Beatles.

Just borrowed the whole lot from my mate. If I can work him down to mates rates and somthing like 50 I'll get it off him. As it's the most he has been offered on Ebay for the lot too. Rock Band seems like the better deal as I can rent the other games in the series without much fuss. Plus if I do buy this set off him I can use the Guitar Hero Guitar to play World Tour.

I've been playing on the guitar and doing the vocals whilst Joyous has been on the drums. I can get through medium on guitar and if it's a song I know expert on the vocals.

Still I don't get how I mess up on the vocals. I'm trying for the achievement and the best I keep getting is around 98% on Expert on Vocals. Not sure what I am doing wrong really. Also how do I Gold star a song? Does the whole band have to play or can it just be me on my own.

Just noticed the rather odd wording on the Beatles blog:

quote:

All but one song from The Beatles: Rock Band track list has been revealed at http://www.thebeatlesrockband.com - check it out now!

Very strange indeed. Why leave out one track? Just another random song to be added (Hey Jude?) or would it be wishful thinking to hope for just maybe a new (as in unreleased) song...?

I think theres more hance of Rupert Murdoch doing a polka on my wardrobe than it not being Hey Jude, but if I had my way (things would be alot simpler), it would be Free As A Bird from the Anthology project

Where the hell is She Loves You?  Perhaps the most famous Beatles song isn't there yet Hey Bulldog is?  And Two of Us and Across the Universe didn't make the list but Dig a Pony and I Me Mine did?!

Norwegian WoodIn My Life?

Still this is a lot better than any other music game track list of which I usually only like a handful of songs so I will actually buy this.

Dont forget theyll be gradually releasing the full albums as DLC.

Abbey Road in October, Sgt. Pepper in Nov and Rubber Soul at Christmas. I reckon theyll release more (the rest of The White Album is a no brainer, as with Revolver), but Harmonix did say that a complete back catalogue would be a stretch.

Not like they've just been completely remastered

Yeah, and I heard Abbey Road is being priced per song so you're paying the same amount for a 60 second songs like Mean Mr Mustard and Polythene Pam as you are for a regular 3 minute song.

The songs were picked by what would be most enjoyable to play as a band. As the likes of Norwegian Wood and Across The Universe aren't really heavy on the standard guitar/bass/drums setup they'd be a tad boring in the game.

In my experience songs I like are usually more enjoyable to play than songs I don't regardless of how the note patterns are.  Hence why I haven't really liked any music game so far.

And how would the sitar on Norwegian Wood not be fun to play?!

No, what I mean is that in some of those songs (Norwegian Wood being an excellent example) there'd be extended periods of nobody playing anything (Sadly, Sitar Hero is not yet upon us) which is no fun. That said, I'm still baffled that In My Life isn't in there.

Im looking foreward to the coda of A Day In The Life where everyone presumably stops to just mutter 'Never could see it any other way' whilst swinging the mic around over the leader's head

I still want Revolution 9. Imagine how hard it would be to just say the same two words without break for nearly ten minutes.

"NUMBER 9. NUMBER 9. NUMBER 9. NUMBER 9. NUMBER 9. NUMBER 9. NUMBER 9"

(that, and "TAKE THIS BROTHER, MAY IT SERVE YOU WELL" of course.)

Wonder if Red Octane are happy that they have the rights to put about 4 songs by Wings into Guitar Hero, but Harmonix have the rights to pretty much the entire Beatles discography?

Now, when companies show off their latest games at the expos they normally get the best person money can buy to demo it. Hell, Harmonix re united the surviving Beatles at E3. But sometimes, money buys you lots of things, but apparently it still makes you sound like you are playing whilst wearing a glove

The Beatles: Rock Band is amazing. I was at my mates playing it all of yesterday, it's great just singing along to all the songs you know.

The modelling of the characters is superb and I love the presentation. This is the best instrument game on the Xbox so far, without a doubt.

I'm looking to pick this up, but I have one question: what happens if you are afflicted with left-handedness? I've heard all the guitars are made for right-handed people, even McCartney's which is just stupid...
