So, who's looking forward to this 'un? Guitar Hero, combined with Singstar, combined with...errr...Donkey Kong Jungle Beat - complete with plastic fantastic peripherals (check out www.kotaku.com for pics of the prototype guitar).

Should be a lark at drunken get togethers.

I think more people will be talking about it once some details are known about it, as they are being very vague atm.

Though I must say that guitar does look very cool...

I'd imagine the whole kit would be quite pricey. You're talking 2 guitars (3 with a bass?), a drum and a microphone peripheral. It ain't gonna be cheap which is why I'll steer clear of this particular title methinks. I impulse buy enough as it is .

The Harmonix CEO has gone on record as saying that the full package will be "affordable". They'll probably have various packages anyway. It may even be compatible with the 360 GHII geetar.

The Guitar Hero 2 guitar is compatible for the game, and I think the Rock Band guitar will be compatible with Guitar Hero 2/3.

Me and my mate were talking about going halves on the instruments and using it as our new beer game.

Just play it tipsy, rather than blind drunk. I tried GHII bladdered off me face on Saturday and it was not a pretty sight (or sound).

Rather typically, RB has been delayed in Europe and won't be out until "early 2008". Bang goes my evil plan of Rock Band Christmas Parties.

On a better note, the tracklist is shaping up nicely. It even has Epic - friggin' awesome!

Anyone know where you can find out if games are Region Free or not?

Just had a look on PlayAsia and they have RockBand (Game Only) for £24

In Europe, the game will apparently not come bundled with all the controllers, and will be released on the Xbox 360 come May 23rd. PS3, PS2 and Wii editions will follow later in the summer. An Instrument Edition will offer the drum kit, guitar and microphone for 129.99 GBP or 169 Euro - while you'll still then need to buy the game for 49.99 GBP or 69.99 Euro.Guitars will be sold individually for 59.99 GBP or 79.99 Euro, the drum kit will cost 69.99 GBP or 89.99 Euro.

Pretty much the price I was expecting to be honest, you know that who ever sets the price just switches the $ for a £ normally.

£70 for Guitar Hero, £70 for Wii Fit.

The controller for Guitar Hero is sold for £40 - £50, and so £130 RRP for the Drum Kit, Guitar and Microphone is to be expected really.

It shouldn't be the case, but it is.

But you then have to buy the game on top of that. At least with GH you get the game with the controller.

I wonder why the microphone isn't available seperately.

Does anybody know if the Guitar Hero guitars are compatible?

GH guitars are compatible but Rock Band guitars are not compatible with GH.
The 360 headset works as a mike.

Is there not a region free version out there that you can import in????
Surely the hardware would work regardless of what country it's purchased in.
May have to get my brother to buy it and send it over from the US - that way I have no import costs as I've not paid for it!!!!

According to most of the sites I've looked at (Play-Asia, etc) the US version isn't region free.

Buy the game here and then get the instrument pack imported.

Or give the finger to EA by not purchasing this over priced Guitar Hero, Dance Dance Revolution and Singstar mash up.

Anyone who purchases this now really has no concept of money. They simply cannot charge more than a console for a game, it'll just never work, the game will flop over here unless the price is lowered, and if the game flops then the DLC for europeans will stop coming, because they aren't going to pay for a license to use and distribute the songs in europe if not enough people will buy them.

And in all honesty I'd just stick to Guitar Hero anyway, the only decent side of Rock Band was the addition of the drums, because lets face it, unless you're female/homosexual/pissed/all of the above, no one is ever going to be willing to sing.

Their excuses for the pricing is a joke, yes VAT may increase the price (slightly) and yes distributing to the UK can cost more, because the cost of living and what not is higher over here, so it has a knock on effect on the price of distribution due to higher petrol prices/storage prices/wages etc, but that doesn't equate to a 200% increase in price. I've heard that since people have argued this to EA and used other expensive products like Macbooks as examples, they've blamed it on the size of the box itself, which again is a fair enough arguement for a slight increase in price, but why not include the game in the box with the instruments then? Saves on storage and distribution space/costs and makes the price a little more feasible for any sane minded person.

This is just a typical EA product, and it's the same reason you won't see an EA title any higher than number 20 in Game and Gamestation's charts, because they simply refuse to lower the selling price of their games from £49.99, despite all other publishers games selling for £34.99-£39.99.

Fingers crossed the rumours of Microsoft buying out EA are true, although I think a small cry of Monopoly from either Sony or Nintendo would put an end to that.

An outrageous accusation, I'm female and wouldn't dream of subjecting anyone else to my singing!

I know what you're saying SHP and I agree with you about EA's pricing policy but in the States you would pay about $150 for the lot which is about £75-£80...buying from play.com here you can get it for £140 so it's £60 odd more than they pay in the States which is the same for most products over there

You can get a 16gb iPod touch for £175 over there where it's £225 here...also branded trainers and jean etc are nearly always at least half the cost

Also I quite fancy the singing part and I'm not female or homosexual but am often pissed so this is definitely for me

I sing all the time. I hear I'm great. Or I grate. Something along those lines.

Anyway, I'm with SHP on this one... fuck EA. After the ridiculous nature of Army Of Two (I'm blaming them for not be able to play with anyone in the US. Soon, you'll prolly only be able to play with people in the same county or even house. Which would lead to uneccesary conversation on my part).

I bought a Wii with the money I'd set aside for Rock Band anyway now.

So who is picking this up today???

HMV seems to be the best high street deal at £150 for game, BiaB, and 2100 points, but i'm getting mine from Zaavi (convenient) and i'll see if they'll let me use my Student card against it like I did with WiiFit...

I'm drums, girlfriend lead guitar,,,,, we need two more!!

Well we're due some rain from Sunday onwards.... So just the knife for you to find...

There is no getting away from the fact that it is overpriced, I'm accepting the fact i'm paying £145ish for it, and then i'll just enjoy the game, you make your choices....

£145?

You can get all the instruments for £99.99 of Amazon.co.uk, and Rock Band for £36 from Shopto.net.

Got the game through the post yesterday, planning on playing it through with the Guitar Hero controller, berfore buying the rest of the instruments in the Summer.
