I thought I'd start this thread to keep these seperate from the 'Make me an avatar' thread.

If anybody wants their avatar changed to be a bit more in keeping with the season, this is the place to ask. Santa hat, animated snow or something different?

These Festive Avs need resizing before usage, but are free to claim.

Would anyone care to make Mr Darwin into an evolutionary Santa?

I've just re-read the whole thread and come to the conclusion that Spektre is a genius.

How do you go about making good snow effects? I did mine in imagready but it looks like the beginning of a new ice age.

My method is to create a new snow layer the size of the image (there are plenty of tutorials on how to do this). Then I copy this 4 times and arrange it into a bigger square (ie. four times bigger than the canvas) then merge these into one layer.

Then place the snow layer so that the bottom right quarter is visible in the image. Make a new frame and re-position the snow frame so that only the top left quarter is in view. Then click on the tween button and add in new frames, the more frames you add the slower the snow will be falling.
When you're done make sure to delete the first or last frame or else the snow will look the same in 2 consecutive frames, making it judder.

This method gives you diagonal snow, but you can have straight down falling snow with just 2 copies of the original snow layer, one on top of the other.

That's probably confusing, and I would add images to make it clearer but I'm not at home right now.

Ghostwriter: I meant that you had to do the snow stuff over the top of the background image. To integrate them I would make sure that the number of frames in the snow was a multiple of the number of frames of the batman image, then copy all the batman layers over to the snow psd and re-animate those by hand. It's only a few frames so it should be ok.
