But they are perfectly cooked within five minutes, whereas doing them in the oven takes 40-50 minutes and just a few minutes either way results in rigid, tasteless bits in the middle or skins that are as tough as old boot soles (and the skins should be the best part)?

Sorry, Sanchia, I'm loving the micro-jackets!

Yeah I don't mind them. I like a properly baked jacket potato but if it's a quick dinner you're after they're spot on.

Well, next time I do a potato in the oven, it might improve it!

A childhood of dry, horrible tasting jacket potatoes makes me very tempted to try those.

Go for it.  They're pretty inexpensive as well. I promise you a fluffy, tasty result!

If I see a better looking film this year, and not just one from this year, than Gravity I'll eat my hat.

I really wish I hadn't started watching this thing about Fred and Rosemary West. What a miserable, revolting pair of human beings.

Oh I must see this - if you're rating it, it must be great.

I'm thinking - I took one bedsock off last night as I slept, as it's on my bedside table. Why did I do that?

Good work, however my esteemed colleague and Professor of Sarcasm at the University of Weatherfield had this to say:

'Far be it from me to beat a pedant at their own game but your line above, while amusing, would only work if the original quote had expressed surprise at the subject matter - ie 'I had no idea this documentary about two serial killers would be quite so grim' - as opposed to merely expressing regret at having started to watch the documentary. Due to this your comment is rendered out-of-context and the sarcasm misplaced, a state of affairs which, I'm sure you'll agree, has no place on a modern internet film forum. Thank you'.

I think he's being a bit touchy, myself.

I was thinking why the fuck do clients want to see me on a Saturday? Have they got nothing better to do?

Well, yes, I can understand people get quite excited when they come to see me
To be fair, I normally see clients at night, so Saturday afternoon is still better than that.

For some reason, 25 years after first hearing it it's only just dawned on me how fucking grim Harvester Of Sorrow is. In a fantastically groovy way, obviously.

I went back to an old phone (pre-smartphone era) as my newer one died on me, the Wednesday before last.

Having charged it just the once, it's finally run out of battery. After 12 days.

...I can't get Facebook on it, but I'd forgotten just how convenient old phones were.

I think they're bound to make a come back at some stage, especially with the rise of the tablet.

I love that we're in a new era... I had an 'old' phone up until mid-summer this year.

I never wanted a smartphone and the only reason I eventually went for one was there was no improvement on my previous phone model. (which had a touch screen at the top, but the standard keys below) I either had to move onto a smartphone or go backwards and have a tiny screen and keypad.

I figured I should probably move with the times and stop being such a technophobe. But by God I almost threw my smartphone at the wall several times when I first got it. I was close to returning it and just sticking to a standard phone. I persevered with it, but really I still find it a pain in the arse.

Making a call has turned into a palaver. Instead of hitting two buttons on my previous phone, on this one I have to go through 6 stages (or taps of the screen) from the home screen just to call a saved number. Completely ridiculous.

Xboxers, or retails folks, see these cards? Do they need to be activated before the code works? Because my local Tesco had hundreds of these just hanging up beside the games. I informed them that anyone could just take them, and they told me they do need to be activated at the till, but I'm nearly certain that's wrong.

I feel like big images on the internet are a sign of how far we've come. The computer I had 15 years ago would have melted if it tried to open that (if it could even finish downloading it before the internet cut out).
