Kung Fu Panda 2 was a lot better than I was expecting. Visually stunning with some pretty good gags and fight scenes. Though nothing topped with the Po-Shifu fight in the first film.

Actually, this thread isn't far off the old Scottish one size wise now - I wonder if it'll tip over too.

I've only been to Edinburgh once (on business) but had a great time there. Was invited to the Whiskey Society for dinner which was very lush and stuff. Weather was alright too, so I had my lunch on a bench looking at the castle in between meetings.

I need to visit a bit more of Scotland. Went to Glasgow when I was 19 (12 years ago) on a clubbing visit... we'd been to Liverpool (from London) the night before so it was bit of a blur, but the people were nice and we had a fucking great time.

Me too. I guess it's because there's been a sudden drop in temperature lately, plus the days are getting shorter again.

And I've been watching the Harry Potter box set.

Yeah the drop in temp is the main factor. I watched Iron Man 3 last night too, which was kind of Christmassy. Odd film, though.

I had a potter about Edinburgh last night. Got the train in from Uphall so felt like a native (just needed a can and I'd have fit right in!). Couldn't get that near the castle as they are taking down all the seating from the Tattoo but what I did see of the city was lovely. My vertigo wasn't that keen. Felt wobbly in a few places with the steps going down.

Today I went over the Forth Road Bridge which is awesome but my knuckles were white going over and back again. I did stop near the shore to get some pics. This morning was glorious but now I am about to pootle off to Linlithglow it is pissing down I'll just get some rainy pics then

Oh and after speaking to a colleague who is from Falkirk I want to go and see the Falkirk Wheel!!

Yesterday, persuaded my mum to watch Breaking Bad

Today, discover she watched the first episode and ten minutes of the second before deciding not to carry on

Due to the near universal love heaped upon this thing by the forum users, I'm actually going to give it a shot.

It had better be good otherwise I'm holding you all accountable.

Who knows whether or not you'll like it. You've already shown a complete lack of taste recently by disliking Wallace and Gromit

I've always wondered if that love scene in Bladerunner between Deckard and Rachel is supposed to seem a bit, well...'rapey'...?

I remember the great praise heaped upon Crank. i also remember watching it and thinking what a massive steaming pile of poo it was. I now rarely believe hype.

I may watch Break Bad at some point but expect very little reward.

It's one of those so-awful-it's-funny films. It was well received because of how stupidly tongue in cheek it all was.

I do understand the issue around hype though, but at the same time, being a fan of Breaking Bad from its early days, I find it such ashame people will miss out on quality writing & t.v simply because the quality has been so great it has amassed a huge number of fans singing its praises.

Think of your current favourite film or t.v show and how great the writing/acting/cinematography etc is, and then imagine you had missed out seeing it because so many people had raved about it so you decided to not watch it for that reason.

I know perception can be moulded by expectations, but just acknowledge it has a big fan base and then say, 'whatever. I'm going to decide for myself.'

Not that I've watched Breaking Bad yet (some friends have kindly agreed to loan me the boxset soon), but why has it taken this long to gather a serious fanbase here?

Accessibility - great shows on Fox have problems breaking out because of access I think. But the Netflix promotion seems to have helped. But as Sway said - some of us were on board from the 1st epi.

I don't know, it's been a slow build that's for sure, but I feel as though it reached a certain point where all of a sudden the number of people on my facebook talking about it suddenly exploded. Homer, I think, blames my constant banging on about it for him giving it a try!

My friend recommended it to me just as the second season was airing/had aired (2009, I think?) and I remember watching it for ages without anybody else to chat to about it apart from him. People hadn't even really heard of it, and when you try explaining the synopsis it doesn't actually sound that great.

Just one of those things that passed people by for quite a while. Accessibility as elab says is probably a big factor.

I can't remember anyone going on about it a few years ago. I've only started watching it from Series 1 back in August. I watched Episode 9 Kafkaesuqe last night - it is a good series, although sometimes I have to have at least 1 likeable character in a show - sadly there aren't any (possible their son) who is even remotely likeable.
I actually like Saul the lawyer best because at least he doesn't try to hide being a complete shit.
