I wish they'd picked Owen Wilson for Batman, just so the idea me and a mate came up with for a Wes Anderson version could come to fruition.

I love the person who decided Affleck should be the next Batman. The meltdown has been entertaining me all day.

Hugely amusing isn't it? I think it's hilarious. But most of what I've seen is more of the 'I'm above this' type comment. At least I legitimately don't give a toss about the films - I didn't even bother going to the cinema to see Man of Steel. So I happily gave my 2 cents on Affleck generally.

I'm the same with you about the films too - I enjoyed Batman Begins, can't remember anything about The Dark Knight as I saw it once in the cinema and thought The Dark Knight Rises was gash. I went to see Man of Steel at the cinema after being told it was amazing and it was crud.

All that said, I don't understand all this fuss about Ben Affleck being cast. I've not been able to avoid it on my facebook today and this is the first time anywhere I've made a comment about it. Time and time again people go ape over what they think is questionable casting when it's first announced (Daniel Craig as Bond, Heath Ledger as the Joker) then go on to rave about them.

Surely the beauty of film and acting is seeing an actor being cast for an unexpected role and then appreciating their talent when they nail it against everyone's expectations. For example, I was surprised to read about Tom Hardy being cast as George Mallory in an upcoming Everest film, and we all know how much I love Hardy. But I look forward to him showing me my doubts are unfounded. I actually think Affleck could probably do just a good a job as Bale, who I'm personally not keen on.

I don't even know if I'll go and watch the film, but that's my two cents on the hullabaloo.

I think the biggest problem facing MoS2 is Zack Snyder. Man couldn't direct himself out of a wet paperbag with a big neon sign at the exit saying: "this way out of wet paperbag!"

I already like it more than any of the Nolan films.

But Bill Murray should be Batman.

I have no desire to watch Man of Steel. I still don't.

However, Affleck's casting has made me want to watch the sequel. Not for a laugh, but because I think he could be fine in it. Plus, he's attractive, and I don't mind admitting I can be horrendously shallow.

Nah, Bill Murray is The Joker, and Gene Hackman is Commissioner Gordon.

The climax of the film is a conversation between the three of them, settling their differences, with THIS music in the background.

I don't know, I thought Dawn Of The Dead and Watchmen were pretty good and MoS was decent. Even 300 is ok. Sucker Punch is the only one I'd consider poor (I've not seen Legends Of The Guardians), but I wouldn't say he's a terrible director. He's not a Bay-style hack, let's put it that way.

I would like to see Wilson as Batman and Murray as Bane trading deadpan, low energy threats.

Yeah, Dawn was fine, but I was irritated by 300 and bored by Watchmen.

He was the wrong director for Watchmen. All he saw were the cool costumes and set designs and forgot to put in all the stuff that made the book so special.

I can see Murray as The Joker, yeah, but I like the idea of him as an older Batman who's just really fucking bored with it and just uses the Batmobile to pick up women.

I reckon for his chin alone Affleck's a great choice.

I'm being serious when I actually thought about that. I genuinely think he'll look the part and can totally imagine him in the bat suit.

I just have no idea how he'll fare with acting the part. But I really do think he has the potential to make it good.

At least as Bruce Wayne he should be able to finally give us some insight into the evolution of the market economy in the southern colonies.

I can't get entertained by comic book guy meltdowns anymore - they seem to happen over any old casting now!

Ms Tate is, indeed, 'well fit'.

Personally, I'd take her over former DW companion Billie Piper anyday...

I swear, every time I turn on the TV or pop in a DVD lately, I see Peter Capaldi in shows or films I didn't notice him in before.

Tonight's edition, Dangerous Liaisons.

Lesson for the day. In a downpour linen trousers may as well not be there (although it would not have been a pretty sight if I was not wearing them).

Yes, you did, Hood Man.  ITV are so happy that they have a universally-loved show that they gotta hype it up as much as they can.

Personally speaking, I watched the first two episodes and got bored with it, but hey, if it puts British talent out there, I got no problem with that.

Watching Carmella finally confront Tony Soprano after all his years of cheating was so so satisfying to watch.

He is such a prick.

Brilliant television.

He is but he's so damn loveable. And Carmela's arguably no better - as Dr Krakower told her in series 3 after imploring her to leave her husband and refusing to take her 'blood money': '...one thing you can never say is that you weren't told'

There have been a hell of a lot of great sights in Game Of Thrones but one of the greatest yet has to be Tonks out of Harry Potter with her tuppence and wobblers out.

I don't find him loveable at all! I actually said to the screen "Tony, you're such a c**t" after he did something I wasn't a fan of. I have never done that before. Despite not being totally enamoured with The Sopranos, the breakdown of Tony and Carmela's marriage is perfectly written.

I am flying through Season 5 - which imo has been the best season by far.

The penultimate episode Long Term Parking is possibly the greatest hour of television ever made.
