I finally caved and got a smartphone and I fucking hate it. It's so far taken me an hour to get to the basics. I'm going back to a normal phone, I don't care how shit it is.

Why not go back to your abacus and chalkboard around your neck as well, grandma?

That picture is frighteningly accurate....

Actually a calculator performs sums far quicker than an abacus, but my new phone takes longer to initiate a call than my last one.

I too hate my smart phone,

Runs really slow,
Bloody awful internet connection and signal.

And a ruddy nightmare to use in sunlight, or any light come to that.

For a smart phone, its not so smart.

Was rather hoping to have heard from the theatre about the job I applied for last week.

No matter!

Looking forward to my trip out to Nando's later as well as my trip to the flicks.

Can. Not. Wait!!!

It's been a hell of a week!!!!

I'm not one of those bores who get precious about adaptations of their favourite books but if anyone other than Brit Marling plays Amy in Gone Girl I don't think I'll be able to watch it.
(So it would appear I am one of those bores. What the hell - him out of Cloverfield needs to play Nick too)

So a friend got back with an old girlfriend (good for him it appears to be working). Since that time I have made arrangements to meet up with him five times and five times he has cancelled. The first two we were going to the cinema, the first i booked the tickets as he had asked only to get a text on the day of the film to inform me he could not make it but at least i found someone else to go with so the ticket was not wasted, the second I checked before booking and again he could not make it. Oh well, I thought, these things happen. The third time he asked if I wanted to go round to his house and hang out. I drove the twenty miles to his house on the day only to find they had gone out. The fourth time I texted him and was told he had to do something else. Yesterday I texted him again and apparently something else has come up.

With that I am thinking screw him. If he wants to maintain this friendship he can do the running as it is becoming obvious he does not wish to maintain it. It is a shame because i have known him for a long time and was there to pick up the pieces when it fell apart when this girlfriend cheated on him twice the last time he was with her but may not be if it falls apart again.

I think event 3 - inviting you round then going out? Leave him to do the running.

I am tempted that if he invites me around again to text him ten minutes before I am due telling him something has come up.

I am not that sort of person though. I think if he invites me again I will tell him the truth, that he has been unreliable so text me a day before he is available and I will let him know if I can make it.

It's all a bit off, but that bit in bold is rank out of order. If a mate of mine had done that I'd have called him out for being a massive wanker.

I started taking wallpaper off my living room walls in a futile attempt to get motivated into redecorating. I regretted my decision as soon as I started.

What do you make of Once Upon a Time? Bought the blu ray blind and watched the pilot so far. Made by Lost writers and starring Scotland's finest.

Haven't watched it, I'm afraid. Robert Carlyle was on Kermode and Mayo on Friday and was talking about it. I'll get round to it eventually. Focussing on watching films, redecorating my flat and recording podcasts at the moment

Working in a software support environment, I can't believe how many people fail to login to things. I've got someone who is telling me they can't login, I can see that they can, I've given them their username and password, and have even logged in with these myself... how the fuck do these people get dressed in the morning?

I can only imagine the huge number of people viewing these forums, unable to login, scratching at the virtual windows, stuck on the outside...

That from next week, I'll be working from home and have no more late shifts.

I'll be able to finally catch up with all the boxsets I've got lying about, start some old stuff again and basically watch an episode of something different every night (shift work meant that I'd make my way through one boxset before starting another as the shifts tended to split my viewing up).

It'll be like watching TV in the old days.

Mind = blown.
