Feeling quite fragile. Just broke down at the thought of having to walk home because I'm terrified of seeing another fox. I feel so tired, its been such a great/stressful week.

My poor folks have been really ill today. Originally they thought it was the chipper we'd had for tea last night - all of us had the same meal, but I've been fine today.

I've never seen the two of them so ill before though, so I've been concerned about them all day.

If this is a bug, does anybody know the likelihood of me picking it up so long after they started suffering from it? My body wouldn't cope with that at the moment.

I know where you are coming from, I am actually scared to get a cold now after having one three or so weeks ago and the pain it caused in my back and leg (worryingly I have a scratchy throat at this moment which may be another one coming on). If it is a bug I would try to keep out of their way as you have had some major procedures and it could possibly cause you problems if you get ill.

Hope you are feeling a bit better this morning. Is there a story involved with the fox?

I think it depends on the bug, to be honest.

Some latch onto you straight away, some might take a week or so. There was a stomach bug going around the two boys and my ex-wife and her family last month and it took about a week for it to hit me - probably because I was only seeing them for little bits of the day here and there.

Considering what you've gone through, however, it might genuinely be a good idea to see if you can crash at someone else's until your folks are back on their feet.

Oh dear - that doesn't sound promising. I can't really go elsewhere just now - everything is set up here to make things easy for me. I.e sleeping in a ground floor bedroom, specific large cushions for my back etc.

We are hoping to move me back into my flat at the end of the week though, so hopefully I can make it until then and I'll be out of the woods.

Eep, nothing worse. Hope it comes to nothing. I already had a mini-cold a short while ago - I was surprised it didn't hit me a lot harder than it did. But, yeah, the constant sneezing was hellish.

Yeah I think if I were to catch a bug I'd be absolutely floored.

I was walking home the night before and not only was there a helicopter flying low overheard to put me on edge, a drugged up couple were screaming at each other in the street. Then, walking up the hill towards my flat, a fox was about to run across the road when he was stopped by a bus and ran back into a garden. I am absolutely terrified of foxes, I can't walk past them. I knew I had to walk past the garden to get home so I just braved it and walked past, caught the fox in my eyeline literally two feet away from me, watching me walk past. I have never ran so fast in my life. As I ran up the rest of the hill, I looked back and the fox was watching me run away (probably confused as to why I was so scared!).

I lived in the country for 24 years, I have witnessed cows in the street at 7am and 13 horses getting loose from a nearby stables and galloping down the road at midnight. I never seen a fox. Since moving to an urban town I've seen literally dozens and every single one turns me into a crying wreck.

Added to the emotional mess I was on Friday night, I couldn't handle the thought of another fox encounter and my legs were literally shaking with fear all the way home. I'm never usually like that but foxes just put the fear of God into me.

oh, and thank you:), I feel much better. Just been working a lot since I came home from Scotland and not really had a moment to settle. It's been getting to me a bit.

I've been pondering whether to crack onto my Easter egg for the past hour or so, and you've just inspired me to go for it.

I'm thinking, how did I never notice the similarity between Daniel Craig and the young Leslie Nielsen before??

What browser do you use? I use Chrome and sometime images just don't appear, even if they've been visible on hours earlier, it's vey odd.

I'm sorry Steff but

I'm just picturing you freaking out at a load of unrelated stuff going on then an image of a fox, completely baffled, shaking it's head and going back to the bin it was raking.

It's not (it was called Dead Crow), but I have had their root brew - and it was indeed a tasty beverage.

I ordered a bunch of flowers for my parents as a small thanks for their help and support over the past 6 months, and I picked today for them to be delivered - in the afternoon.

I woke up around 10.30am and went online for a bit, then suddenly realised it was already 11.40am and thought I'd best have a shower so that I'm not waiting all afternoon for one, looking out for the delivery van.

Yup, you all know what's coming.... Got out the shower, still before 12 and discovered they'd been and had to stick a note through the door to say they've left them a couple of doors down.

I know it's my own fault for showering so late, but it's typical isn't it? If I'd decided to hold off on my shower until the flowers arrived, they probably still wouldn't be here by now.

Sod's bloody law.

I'm supposed to be going out tonight with Mr HQ and his sister for dinner and drinks and then she's staying at our place tonight. Due to loads of problems it's the first time I've seen her for almost two years. I really really don't feel like going. I've had a migraine for almost a week and my contact with my baby was slashed yesterday so I'm not seeing him today and won't see him for another month and my Step-dad & my mum are at the hospital today. So I'm really not in the mood for socialising today or going through the the routine of getting dressed up for going out. I'd much rather sit on the sofa in my comfy clothes watching Criminal minds.

Is it too much to hope Jeremy Irons is a bit of a wacky troll rather than a bigoted buffoon?

There's been rumours for a while about some of his views. I hate that kind of stuff turning out to have a basis. It makes you wonder about other things you read.

You have to hope he is a troll as if he isn't he comes across as a monumentally stupid person because non gay marriage has led to so many fathers marrying their daughters (and that whole incest thing he was blathering on about only applying to male to female relatives is rubbish as the definition covers any form of sexual relationship between parents and children etc.).

I was just reading a quote from him from when he made Lolita.

quote:

It's very difficult because children under sixteen are immensely attractive, any father will tell you. We have to accept that, understand it for what it is and not become hysterical about it. Strangely enough, Humbert Humbert is not a paedophile ... because he knew he was doing wrong. That's his tragedy in a way. I remember when my son was twelve he was like a god. He just went through that sort of golden time for about 18 months. Parental love is sexual. Boys will flirt outrageously with their mothers.

Next time I watch Brideshead, can I pretend he didn't say any of this stuff? And when I watch Dead Ringers, can I pretend he did? It'll just make the film creepier.

It's bizarre, isn't it? Then you throw in the sexual harassment stuff and the smoking quote, and he's either massively unpleasant or trolling the hell out of everyone.

From the pattern of things I thing the former rather than the latter, and taken in the context he was in Play Away in the early 70's his paedophilia comments become even more sinister.
