After avoiding a cold all this winter now I have one sneak up on me and give me a good kicking. I'm running a lovely temperature (which may be handy considering how cold it is) and feel like rubbish. I am lucky I had today booked as a day off and hopefully will feel slightly improved tomorrow.

I also now want to see DC Cab.

Has there even been a more 80's film than that one?

I don't really understand the 'cars stuck in snow' story in Sussex - looking at the trucks stuck and the roads generally the snow fall doesn't seem at all deep (it barely hits the bottom of the tyres on the 'stuck' trucks. Was it lorries unable to get up hills? Normally this thing seems to happen when there is a lot of snow.

I don't know about Sussex but down here in South Essex, there was very heavy snow for a good part of the day. The funny thing is didn't start settling till about 10.30pm and even then it wasn't very thick. When it was coming down there was incredibly poor visibility though. But yeah, as far as it settling goes, it barely touched the ground here.

A friend of mine went on a course in Crowborough (East Sussex) which was down a winding hilly country lane. She got 1.5 miles from the course and had to abandon her car as she couldn't get any traction at all. She had to get her husband to go and get her in his jeep (took him 3.5 hours to go 40 miles!) and he said it was the slippiest snow he's ever driven in. I wonder if that was down to the -temparatures due to the wind that caused it to freeze so quickly.
She said she stopped outside a little cottage and a very kindly old man offered her shelter and cider! Result

What a lovely chap

A lady on the TV who was also stuck in it said that it wasn't that heavy or deep, they just thought the roads and everything were compleltely not prepared. I'm assuming no gritters or anything out, even with the forecasts.

He did offer her dinner and a spare room if her husband couldn't make it. Lucky escape methinks!

Letting the beard grow because of the cold weather and nobody can give out to me. I really wanna grow a big scruffy one while it's so cold but it's starting to go a bit ginger.

Ok, I've tried to just skip over this, but I really can't. Is this another way of saying 'putting out' or what? I mean is the beard really a deal breaker for these situations?

Also, Sanch, sorry to hear you're not well buddy. Listen to your body and get as much rest as you can. Hope you feel better soon.

Hah, no I mean nobody can give me shit for being a bit of a scruffy bastard because the beard is practical in this poxy cold weather.

I haven't gone out yet with the beard so I'll let you know if it's a deal breaker for those situations you mention.

Congrats on the recent good news btw. That's excellent!

Assuming this is Aronofsky's PI then there's a great method of relieving headaches towards the end...

Yeah, I kinda stopped watching it by the end. I turned the volume right down, as the noise from the 'music' combined with the shrill non-stop ring of the telephone was doing my nut in. On top of that I wasn't enjoying the film one little bit. I saw the drill part, but I didn't really pay attention to what else happened within the last 15 minutes.

Hmm, as much as I have no desire whatsoever to see Taken 2, if I was watching it and someone was sitting tweeting all the way through I'd be tempted to get all Liam Neeson on their arse.

In the cinema, yes. I was at home on my sofa though.

And I'd seen it before.

Ok, so the day a new Pope is elected, a Veronica Mars movie is funded and Google Reader gets axed.

Coincidence?

Would it be legal to set up a fight club? On private property, all consensual and with no money changing hands. Sounds like an orgy actually but with people hitting each other for stress relief. Could the police stop it and for what reason?

Edit: Wonders who the first person to start quoting the fight club "rules" will be....

Not having a hangover the last two times I had a few beers gave me a false sense of security it seems. I got a bit more pissed last night than I normally would on a school night and I feel like death this morning. This is going to be the longest day ever .

Sorry, I have no sympathy for people with hangovers at work. Purely because I don't do it anymore. It's a horrible feeling.

Fuck it, I'm not even sorry!
