It almost lost me when it had a cat jump scare in the first ten minutes but it won me over very shortly after when the main doctor lady used 'gerbil' as an insult to a colleague.

And the monster attack on the SWAT team (or whatever they were) is great.

I only watched The Relic because my TV Guide years ago mixed up two completely different films, so I ended up thinking Tommy Lee Jones would be fighting a giant, CGI monster.

As it turns out, I wasn't disappointed.

 I always had a soft spot for The Relic - it's not earth-shatteringly original but really well-paced with a nice sense of impending dread and the gradual reveal of the genuinely nasty monster is nicely done. Also, Tom Sizemore was great in pretty much anything back then and Penelope Ann-Miler, while not the best actor, used to make me feel all funny down below.

 Balls. Was just settling into Rocky II on MGM which I haven't seen since I was about 16, and is my joint favourite of the series alongisde the cheestastic Rocky IV, and I had to switch it off because the missus is sky+ing 2  programmes (Alan Carr and Graham Norton ).

I'm going to have to buy the box set now .

Paxton is worse, I agree. At least Henriksen has that great voice that adds a bit of menace to his bad guy roles.

After saying I wouldn't watch Bulletproof again, I am currently watching Bulletproof....

Aye, while I agree Paxton is capable of being a bit rubbish, he's also been great on occasion (the two listed above in particular). Henriksen's never terrible, just kind of blank and one dimensional - it's no surprise he gave his best performance playing a fucking robot.

You know, those are two films of his I have never seen.

I am currently watching Solo starring Mario Van Peebles on Crackle of all things. Crackle! Five minutes in and they have used library music on the soundtrack for score. Huh.

I will watch it at some point because Crackle is free. Only problem is, there are adverts every 10-15 minutes or so. Well, one ad but I think its the same one every time which is annoying.

EDIT: I have just discovered that Solo is rated PG-13 in the US but it is an 18 over here.

I am thinking Under Siege 2 is not all there in the head. Oh and Solo was pretty violent for a PG-13, I see why the BBFC of the 90s gave it an 18. It would be 15 now, though.

I am thinking that The Puppet Masters isn't as fun as I used to think it was. Also, I just watched The First Power (1990) and just as it was ending, its star Lou Diamond Phillips tweeted what he is doing right now (as people tend to do). I took the opportunity to tell him what I was just watching and that I had always felt that the film was underrated. He tweeted back to me saying that he agreed

 Had the most heavenly meal today - I'm still daydreaming about it hours afterwards.

Weird evening - I was absolutely exhausted earlier on from a busy few days. Was struggling to stay awake. And now I'm wide awake! Attempted to watch a film earlier, but chose Rango which was the wrong kind of film for the mood I was in. Loved it at the cinema, but couldn't be done with its weirdness tonight so switched it off halfway through. I've since just mooched about.
