If you can, get a warm, original glazed, straight off the conveyor. Heaven in edible form.

Seriously, what the fuck is the big deal with fucking Krispy Kreme doughnuts? Do they have crack in them or something?

I take you're talking about the mass excitement about the one opened at Hermiston Gate?

No idea why people are risking getting ran over for them but I'm going to take a trip over after work today to sample a dozen or so.

I'm not one of the aforesaid kids but it's Dark Bunny Tees where people got the Die Hard jumpers etc.

A very strange thing, A "news" site comment section which previously used to have the BNP's grubby little fingerprints all over it now is filled with UKIP propaganda. In fact the same people who were pushing a BNP agenda now appear to be all for UKIP, Very strange?

Another Edinbugger here and I'm baffled by this phenomenon too. I've admittedly never sampled one but they'd have to taste of orgasm to merit the photos of doughnut boxes I keep seeing on Facebook.

I'm sure it'll die down soon. I remember the same hysteria when a Nandos opened opposite my work (we're easily pleased in the wretched northern outreaches) - it soon stopped when people actually went and realised the food was over-hyped shite.

I don't really get the Nando's hype either, the chicken tastes bland to me. The sauces are alright but I can get them in the supermarket.

It's lasted years though - I remember when Ross was talking about them on his radio show!

And another agnostic here - tried several of them, don't really get it. Mind you, I think most doughnuts get by on anticipation rather than reality.

Kripsy Kreme's are seriously lovely. So lovely that I'm very, very tempted to go on an hour's drive right now just to pick up a few hot ones.

I tried them once and found them rather sickly and unpleasant. I suppose it is down to taste,

Yup. And it was over-priced. I wasn't too endeared by having to queue up to order and then having to fetch my own drink either. And the crockery was horrible.

Ha! Lord I'm such a snob.

Maybe the krispy kreme fuss is because they're American and we heard about them a lot through popular culture before we ever got to try them. So they're quite glamorous for doughnuts. Or maybe it's just cause they sound nice. Who knows.

I'm off to Google map how far Hermiston Gate is from my work...

I had the opposite experience - I kinda ignored the hype and never had any desire to try Nandos. Then I went with a pal one day and was pleasantly surprised - it was better than I expected it to be.

Not to the point I make a point of returning - I've only ever been twice - but I wouldn't say no to another visit one day.

Wagamamas or Yo Sushi are my favourites.

How have I only found out now that Tom Hardy is apparently going to be playing George Mallory in an Everest film?! The sources on this are all from September.

I just finished reading Into The Silence this evening. A pal visited me yesterday and spotted it, then mentioned that Christian Bale is also going to be in a film based on Jon Krakauer's Into Thin Air - a book I really rate. Read it in just over a day, and it got me reading a slew of similar mountaineering books, including The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev which was a response to Krakauer's book.

It's all very fascinating and exciting!

I find them way to sweet for me. The people in this office seem to like buying large quantities of them as there are always boxes of them around (so I'm glad I'm not a fan!)

I'm thinking that the next time I go on a Fitness weekender (that also involved copious amounts of drinking and going to bed at 4am) I should book the Monday off work! Falling asleep at my desk.

All credit to everyone who stayed up and watched the Oscars in its entirety - I just caught five minutes of highlights on the news and nearly threw up.
On a related note, I look forward to seeing down-to-earth-cockney-bird-who's-just-like-one-of-us Adele roundly mocked by the media at large for crying during her acceptance speech like Tom Hanks and Gwyneth Paltrow were. Hmm.

Ooh, how exciting! I was sent to India a few years back for a month for work and despite being terrified at going to a different continent on my own I loved it. I'd jump at the chance of being paid to go somewhere new
