It's 09.20 and I am done for the day. House is clean, television and films are sorted for the festive period, fridge is stocked, cupboards are hardly bare, there be drinks and I and two greyhounds are knackered sleepy and comfortable having had an early morning run in the wind and the rain. Merry Christmas and such.

If I'd seen this earlier I'd have been so rude!

But, now been to the shops for the panic purchase of white wool for the reindeer chin that I forgot, picked up a couple of spare bed sheets because I couldn't find any only to get back and discover they were in his wee room on the chair, got the last of my brother's joke gift and then been out for turkey and all trimmings, a panic free advance order that even included sprouts and parsnips.

Still tidying the house though

Poor Matty. If it's this bug everyone seems to have you might not feel really crap till Boxing Day? It took mine a couple of days to really hit.

I don't know, I feel pretty crappy right now - congested, headache, a bit nauseus, throat feels like it's been rubbed with a brillo pad. I don't want to think about feeling any worse.

Merry fucking Christmas.

It's going to be a weird Christmas this year. It feels like only the other day we'd have been struggling to get everyone around the table, but this year it's going to be just 3 of us.

I'm dithering between pissed off and thinking but the former seems uncharitable.

This is the first 5 minutes I've had off my feet, to myself, since 8am yesterday and that's only because I've been up since 7 cooking breakfast for the gathering and none of the lazy buggers are up yet apart from my dad (technically - he's asleep in front of the TV in the living room). Normally I have the kids with me while I'm doing this but by some miracle they're still asleep as well (not unconnected to playing Wii Darts past midnight I'd guess)

Bliss. Except for that creak upstairs that suggests someone's now moving!

Hope everyone had a great/enjoyable/day they wished for day yesterday.

Also not seen Dr WHo as my mother commands the TV for shit soaps and the like on the Day so avoiding talk of it like the plague.

I had forgotten what a great film How to Train a Dragon is. This is actually the first Christmas tv I have watched this year.

I love this film - saw it at the cinema and was taken aback how great it was.

Wish I had seen this one at the pictures but never got round to it. I think most of its excellence is down to director Chris Sanders (of Lilo and Stitch fame, and reunited with his co-director there on HTTYD) whom Dreamworks hired after John Lasseter fired him from Disney. Still kind of irritates that the kids have Yank accents though.

It's nearly my birthday - I've just made a demand for my own dragon. I don't see how that can possibly be seen as unreasonable.

Quite right. A new series of quests to serve the old tagline, 'and all because the lady loves....' Dragons is an acceptable replacement.

He thought RocknRoll was better than Abel Smith? This does not bode well for his lifestyle choices.

I came into work today. I've not had a single email or phone call (work in tech support) as nobody we support is actually in. Ha!

I've mostly been spralling through Facebook looking at old school friends photos. Its like a Tesco Value Zoo.

I'm clearing out emails and making a note of what I need to get on to in the New Year in between Empire and Facebook browsing and reading Empire magazine and listening to the radio and watching one of the many films on the many TV's dotted around the office

Edit: Just been told to go home! If you insist, I'll go and see Jack Reacher then

Bleugh. Berry cider is 'orrible. Wonder if my dad (who likes them and is the reason there's some fridge) knows that the back says "1.6 Standard drinks" and not "1.6 units".

You were lucky. We lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt.

Luxury! We used to have to get out of the lake at six o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of 'ot gravel, work twenty hour day at mill for tuppence a month, come home, and Dad would thrash us to sleep with a broken bottle, if we were lucky!
