Yeah rawls is bang on. Do what's right for you and the kids matty.

I'm thinking that I was foolish for looking forward to getting my own office after years of sharing one (in various jobs). It's so quiet here by myself that I nearly fell asleep earlier on and I've been missing the interaction with our clients, other staff passing through the office and my line manager a lot more than I thought I would. 2 days into the week and I've barely had a conversation with anyone about how shit my fantasy football team did over the weekend.

Thankfully it's just till April, I don't think I can deal with this isolation long term.

Cheers, guys - as soon as I sent her a message telling her my decision, I felt a big relief, which I guess is a good sign.

Hmm, I'm trying to reply to Matty in Christmas single thread, but the message keeps getting deleted as soon as it's posted.

Was it just a smiley? Maybe the Mods are just pre-empting you.

That was one long fucking week in the hospital. Hope I don't ever, ever have to do anything like that again.

Well I'm 14lbs lighter, so can actually breathe now and lie down comfortably, as well as fit into non-maternity clothes. So, swings and roundabouts I guess.

Horrible couple of months in all though.

I'm just grateful they called me up with a cancellation at the last minute so I wasn't stuck in there over Christmas as originally planned.

Thanks for the advice, guys. I've decided not to do it - he's got so many friends and other family members that they'll be able to get someone else pretty quickly and that includes people he's known far longer than me. That, the fact I'd rather be with my boys in case either is upset, and also the fact that ultimately I'm no longer with his sister, just never sat right with me.

This sounds like the right thing to do IMHO I was asked to do this for both my aunt and my nan's funeral, but I declined both. It just didn't feel like the right thing for me to do.

Thanks. So utterly relieved to be home now! Had a little cry with my mum this morning because it's been a tough few months and a really hard week, but I'm so happy I'm at the other side of all of this.

Plus I have one fucking awesome scar to be proud of - although I have around 37 staples in it that I need taken out on Sunday. Ouchies!

How's your recovery going?

For all future references you must tell people it was a shark bite.

That's fantastic news - the being home bit. Also the being and getting better bit.

Also, totally seconding the shark bite story.

I wouldn't worry about the staples, they pull a little but don't hurt. I'm back at work on a half day until Christmas (which worked out quite well ) and it seems all is going well.

Now I just need to find somewhere nearby where I can swim which does not have ridiculous hours so I can get some exercise (the only place I can find lets you swim laps from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. or 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the rest of the time is classes or lessons and I don't fancy having to pay 30 per month for those times).

Thanks, my brother said the same. It's just looking at them, some seem fairly embedded, so the thought of having them plucked out is a bit daunting, but I guess I just had a huge op so this should be child's play in comparison.

I actually passed out in the shower in the hospital when I first saw my wound. I'm not a queasy person and I've never, ever fainted in my life before. But it was only the 2nd day I'd been on my feet after being on a cocktail of morphine and other drugs while lying flat on my back for 2 days. I was told to take the dressing off in the shower as it would make it easier. So I think the heat of the shower, combined with my weak state meant when I pulled the dressing off, I looked at the wound and thought, 'oh oh I'm not handling this'. I managed to pull the emergency cord in time to alert the nurses, but next I thing I knew I was flat on my back looking up at nurses picking me up in my birthday suit and placing me on a wheelchair. Dignity: Non-existent.

Mates voting for mates - Hunderby just didn't work very well. I rarely watch this as I have never ever ever laughed at any single thing Harry Hill has claimed was a joke.

I don't watch it either, just saw online that he won. He was up against Stephen Fry, Graham Norton and Harry Hill, I'd have thought one of them would have won.

I'm just relieved it wasn't for Touch of Cloth. And I doubt the Comedy Awards are grown up enough to give deserved awards for stuff like Black Mirror

Black Mirror deserves some award, I agree. He won for being on screen with 2011 Wipe, so I'm happy for that

Never saw Touch of Cloth, the trailer looked shite.

The fact that it wasn't particularly funny may have harmed its chances somewhat too.
Please tell me Brooker didn't win an award for the fuck-awful 10 O'Clock Show?

Phew. Though to be honest I'm not a massive fan of that either. I much prefer reading him to hearing him - there's something unbearably smug about his voice and delivery.

Agree.
His Guardian articles are really good,as are the books in which they are published into.
Would love to see a new Screenwipe (or gameswipe) series though. That's were Brooker is at his best concerning TV.

Absolutely. Gameswipe was a pilot and it got good ratings but nothing more came of it. His new show coming in 2013 takes in all his 'wipe' stuff in one show, though. Hoping that'll be good.
