John McCrirrick is reason enough to avoid watching something.

Also How I Meet Your Mother, essentially a synopsis of what he has told his children:

"You know your Auntie Robin? I've had a shedload of sex with her."

I am confused about this whole Natwest fuck up. I bank with RBS and I got £10 from my account this morning and in the afternoon, I had no cash and was overdrawn. What is that about?

Seriously, I would like to know just what the fook is going on.

You didn't have any bills due to go out yesterday which may have gone out late today instead due to the balls up of their systems? If not it sounds like the muck up may be continuing

It may be something like this which really does not help at all.

No, no bills to come off until next Friday. It's just really weird that I had cash there this morning and now it's gone.

I assume you mean Pointless Celebs? Just started watching it on iPlayer and noticed he was on it. Thinking about turning it off despite the fact I like Ed Byrne.

I would have liked to have watched the others but the fact he and his wife (who puts up with his hideous misogynistic rubbish) were on put me completely off it.

The first series of The Simpsons is really quite rubbish, isn't it?

Wouldn't say rubbish. It has the Marge thinks about cheating with her bowling coach episode.

I'd disagree I think it's not quite the quality product it was from 3-8 but I really think Series One has a lot going for it - Santa’s Little Helper joining the family, Bart the genius/general, Homer being mistaken for Bigfoot, The Telltale Head which is a grand episode, as jcthefirst says Marge contemplating cheating with the bowling pimp Jacques, the French exchange trip which is still a personal favourite of mine, Sideshow Bob and the Babysitter Bandit.

I think season 1 is quite hard to watch, particularly when the quality makes such a dramatic leap forward in season 2. Season 2 has some of the best episodes made, season 1 does not.

It’s a personal thing no doubt I just don’t think Series One is rubbish or a write off. I like Bart the Genius, Bart the General, The Telltale Head, Homer's Odyssey, Life on the Fast Lane and The Crepes of Wrath. The last two in particular are episodes I can watch even now and really enjoy. The problem I think is the quality of the animation and the fact the family are nott the loveable characters they became they’re a lot more aggressive and anarchic, less sweetly odd and so difficult to like/appreciate. It’s certainly not the weakest series.

I agree Series Two is superior though, it certainly has a lot more episodes that are genuinely brilliant and have remained so despite the passing of twenty two years. I really like Simpson and Delilah, Bart gets an F, Bart the Daredevil, Treehouse of Horror, Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish, Dead Putting Society, One Fish Two Fish Blowfish Blue Fish, Brush with Greatness, Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? as well as the superb Lisa's Substitute and Three Men and a Comic Book.

You do wonder if in today's climate, it would have even been renewed for a second season... Makes you wonder about some early cancelled shows today.

Also, what is the episode called where Bart gets a 'big brother' and Homer becomes one to spite him? I think that's easily one of my favourites. EDIT: found it, Brother from the Same Planet. Great epsiode.

As well as Lisa on Ice - "Well boy, you won. So I'll keep up my end of the deal. Here's your turtle, alive and well."

This gets me every time and the bit at the end of Lisa's Wedding when Homer and Lisa are walking back to the carnival and he's excitedly telling her about the spinning tea cups.

The first time I watched this episode was at uni with another flatmate. Once it finished, neither of us dared look the other in the eye until my flatmate cleared his throat and said, "Should we watch Die Hard now?"

The other ones that get me is the episode where Homer's mother abandons him and it ends with him sitting on his car looking up at the stars and Maggie's first word which no-one hears.

The Tell-Tale Head was the very first episode of The Simpsons I ever saw. I was at a friends house and they had Sky, I liked it so I bought all the videos that came out that only had 2 episodes each on it.

I love early Simpsons, although, now I'm not a huge fan of season one, it does have its moments the highlight for me being the 'Krusty Gets Busted' episode. I have worked out a genius way of saying which ones I love in seasons 2-8 without typing out all of the names-

Season 2- All except Simpson and Delilah, Bart Vs Thanksgiving, Bart's Dog Gets An 'F' and The War of the Simpsons
Season 3- All except Colonel Homer and Lisa's Pony
Season 4- All except A Streetcar Named Marge and So, It's Come To This: A Simpsons Clip Show
Season 5- All except Bart's Inner Child and Bart Gets An Elephant
Season 6- All except Another Simpsons Clip Show and Lisa's Wedding (though, it has it's moments, it's not 1 I rewatch)
Season 7- All except Marge Be Not Proud, Two Bad Neighbors, The Day The Violence Died and Raging Abe Simpson and His Grumbling Grandson in "The Curse of the Flying Hellfish
Season 8- All except Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious, Homer's Phobia, Brother From Another Series and The Old Man & The Lisa.

Season 9 has The Principal and the Pauper which I totally despise, so season 9 can suck it. Season 4 has quite possibly my favourite episode ever- Marge Vs, The Monorail.......
