Sam: Why?
Joon: They used to be fat and juicy and now they're twisted. They had their lives stolen. Well, they taste sweet, but really they're just humiliated grapes. I can't say I am a big supporter of the raisin council.
Sam: Did you see those, those raisins on TV? The ones that sing and dance and stuff?
Joon: They scare me.

Agreed. Both are great artists with unique styles. Also, Drew is releasing a new book that is said to contain LOADS of unused / concept works, including BIG TROUBLE -

Agreed, the 80's is my favourite decade. Although my d/bill would be BTILC and this.

I have recently aquired:

Here's a short run down.

Cons:

Rubbish cover as you can see.
The case is cheap, thin crap.
Only one new feature.
The start up loading time is abysmal.
The two interactive magazine articles from the DVD are AWOL.

Pros:

Region free.
Isolated score.
And here's the big one, the one that makes this Blu-Ray worth upgrading to, the picture quality is FANTASTIC.  It's one of the best Blu-Ray transfers I have seen.  It looks so filmlike and beautiful.  I always thought the DVD looked great but this blows it out of the water.  This is how it should be done, not overt digital manipulation.  Just the film transfered as accurately as possible to Blu-Ray.  Detailed,  healthy amount of grain and great colours! For me the upgrade in picture quality was worth the 10 alone.

Simply you cannot consider yourself a Big Trouble in Little China fan if you don't have this.  Even if you don't own a Blu-Ray player you should own it simply to say you own it.

That cover art is a bit poor - the Drew Struzan art woulda gone down a treat - still, I might have to snare this one.

He sure is, even Carpenter and Russell joke about this on the commentary (if you havent listened to it, do, its fucking hilarious) about how Burton is basically bumbling his way through the entire movie, sure he spends almost all of the climactic battle stuck to one of Lo Pan's guards while Wang is having a swordfight in midair

This is why the film is made of win. Thanks for the intel on the Blu-ray, DC. I'll certainly be upgrading!

I cant understand how someone couldnt like BTILC, its just fcukin awesome in every way, we do need more movies like this. Love the opening scene with Egg Shen as well. How he oh so cooly makes lightning appear between his hands "that was nothing!"

Me too, I was gonna watch this during the week, might just order the blu altogether and wait

love the opening sequence, with the stuff in the truck and Jack pulling into the docks playing...whatever it is they're playing. Carpenter's music is cool. And the bit that makes me laugh more than anything else is when Wang is fighting Thunder in Lo Pan's office near the end, and there's this shot of him doing backflips from one side of the screen to the other with Thunder chasing him, who stops, looks at a statue and smashes it for no reason at all, its just a brilliant little moment

If they EVER attempt to remake this, krudler smash! leave it the fuck alone!
