ORIGINAL: krudler I actually watched this with the Carpenter/Russell commentary the other night and they address this during the opening scenes, apparently Fox just didnt know what to do with it, people didnt get that Russell wasnt an Indiana Jones style asskicking hero, he was basically blundering his way through the movie, Wang is the real hero. The test scores were massive and the preview audiences loved it but they just didnt know how to market it very true krudler and I must say, I recall at my parents' video shop when it was first released on VHS rental some months later, it was HUGE. I remember the poster, I was allowed to take it home for my bedroom wall after the first few weeks... Awesome, I love that paster, its a Drew Struzan if I'm not mistaken, nobody does 80s fantasy/blockbuster posters like him. This movie has fucking everything in it,brilliant one liners, laughs, romance (sorta), a great villain, a greater hero, cool sidekicks, cracking soundtrack, brilliant setpieces, great effects, sorcerors, chinese black magic, kung fu gangs, aerial swordfights, a guy who wears six shooters, guy who can control the elements, a batty old man in a wheelchair and some great creature designs, whats not to like?!
