I'm actually glad this scene was cut, cos the acting in it is dreadful.

My only annoyances with the special edition set:
Some of the Zhora chase scene is STILL completely MIA, despite the fact that a couple of shots of Deckard stood on top of a car are still being used on the DVD and BR covers. Madness.

Mark Kermode's channel 4 doc being left off, despite being an extra on the set originally announced in early 00s.

Ditto with the commentary Ridders' did for this same set (subsequently shelved within a matter of months of recording it, and not used for the current special edition set).


But yeah - Sammon's book is the first and last (written) word on Blade Runner.

I dont know where and how this scene would fit into the original version anyhow, It will seem out of place. But as a seperate entity, it is pretty funny! I see the deleted scenes as a mini movie in itself, and Charles De Laurizika had that in mind when putting them together. Instead of viewing the deleted scenes in segments, I feel it wise to press 'PLAY' and sit back, relax and watch a 45 minute alternate, of a funny, weird and wonderful version of BR!

There will always be questions, disappointments just like you stated about the omission of the BR doc,, but overall, I feel Charles has done a mans job.

I am happy with the set. As a fan, could not have asked for more....er, maybe just a model Spinner and a few origami's for good measure!!!!!!! ;)

 This is one of my favourite films by Mr. Scott. I haven't watched it however in a couple of years but will be to viewing it again soon.

It's the questionable moral outlook of the Hero in Blade Runner, (including even the humanity of the hero), as well as the brilliant and harrowing dark & shadowy cinematography. It is also one of the most literate science fiction films (IMO), both thematically - enfolding the philosophy of religion & moral implications of the increasing human mastery of genetic engineering.

 I put Blade Runner in it's own category. It just feels, looks and sounds unlike anything else.


It is also ever kind of awesome imaginable and Harrison Fords best film.

Absolutely. For me it's just as cool as RAIDERS in terms of Ford's filmography.

 It's still a "good" film.

The voiceover does have its place, at least to gently break in newcomers to the story, if nothing else.

I loved the original, I never found the voice over annoying like a lot of people, I just loved the film full stop. Then ten years later when the directors cut came out, the first time I saw that at the cinema, I still did the voiceover in my head

I've got a soft spot for the original voice-over version - seeing as it's the first version I watched (i still have the VHS). The director's cut is also good, but out of all the version's now the final cut has to be the ultimate version and my favourite. It's worth checking out the work print version for alternate music and that fantastic commentary by Paul S. Sammon.

 Have seen a few of those around online, but not all - seems to be a bigger gallery. Was in the mood for the Final Cut last night, as well as listening to some of the soundtrack, particularly some of the unused tracks.
