I'm becoming more and more fascinated and addicted to this film; watching the original 1982 Theatrical Version at the moment. Seriously, the 5-disc blu-ray set of BLADE RUNNER is like the new standard for all 'revisited' classics. I wish the original SW trilogy was set to get the same kind of treatment. Too much to ask of course.

I never got a chance to play the PC game. Anyone think a new 'next-gen console' game would be a good idea?

Gearbox said they were interested in buying the rights but decided it would probably bankrupt them. Would be awesome to see somebody attempt to make another one.

I need to watch this again. I'm like you Snake, everytime I watch it I get drawn into the world more and more. When I eventually get a Blu-Ray player Blade Runner will be one of the few I upgrade.

Awesome. Believe me Scottie, BLADE RUNNER may be the single best possible reason to upgrade to blu-ray!

I've said an L.A  Noire type game would be great. Being a BR - trying to do dectective work - all in an open world enviroment.

The BR PC game was brilliant, so much so that it doesn't really need to be re-done, just reconfigured to work with Windows XP onwards but, as Scott says, the rights issues thanks to the various people involved originally and the subsequent bankruptcies and mergers, it would have to sell an awful lot to make any money.

And, Scott, just to echo what Snake-Eyes said - for ages I was dead against blu ray, not because I didn't "believe" in it, I was just annoyed at how quickly it came along to batter DVD (although I am still annoyed that they still appear to be pushing through blu ray's replacement, green laser), but Blade Runner is what convinced me to bite the bullet, and I haven't really looked back since. BR is one of THE best advertisements for blu ray out there. I only wish my TV was bigger than 32 inches (insert joke about wishing something else was more inches bigger too, here).

Whilst I haven't played it, from what I've heard about LA Noire aspects of it do sound similar to the Blade Runner PC game. But lamer...

Not sure this is a good idea. Even with Ridley at the helm. But who knows? Early days yet...

I wanna LIVE in the 'Blade Runner' Universe. That's one of the few cool things about living in London; the West End i.e. Leicester Square, Picadilly Circus often resembles Blade Runner, especially during those dark, Winter months.

I have mixed feelings. Whilst it could be the best thing since...well, Blade Runner, it could also be about as good as most of the films Scott has made in the last ten or so years, i.e. watchable but, for the mostpart, not much more than that.

I guess Prometheus, as his first sci-fi since Blade Runner, will be a good indicator quality wise. We shall see.

True... Who knows? We may all be surprised by a 'one-two punch' duo of cracking new surprise sci-fi classics by the Master. Maybe.
Anyway, I'll be buying the original DO ANDROIDS novel this week - never read it, so I'm keen.

I think it's great news that Scott is about to do a new Blade Runner, after he finishes the Alien prequel, but i hope he can get a good script together for it,as i'm not sure where he could take the Deckard story too.Or he might just take us deeper into the Blade Runner world, with a new hero?,and new villains?,after all he killed off Tyrell, though he corporation is still there.

Hasn't it subsequently been confirmed for definite that the sequel will not feature Deckard, or any part of the original story, in any way?

I hope it doesn't. Then again I hope it just goes away, modern cinema has no way of replicating (haw) the qualities of the original.

Nothing concrete - but no way will Ford do that again. And Scott is a smarter director than that.

I'm watching the original theatrical version right now (jeez, I think I've watched this film almost as many times as GBU this year!) and I can't believe how 'noticeable' the cables lifting the spinners are! It's those minor but important fixes that make THE FINAL CUT so great.

Hey Snake, have you watched the workprint version yet? If so, how about the commentary by Paul S. Sammon? If you havent I suggest you do ASAP! This guy knows his BR onions! Seriously, normally I have to go through a commentary in two maybe three sittings, but his commentary I listened to in ONE!! He wrote the BR bible Future Noir which I guess you know about already.

I love the deleted scene too, the Holden in the hospital scenes crack me up!! ''you ****** a wachine machine, and you switched it off, so what?'' LOL! :)

Hey NW - yeah I've seen all the versions on that 5-disc blu-ray set and listened to all of the commentaries. Sammon is a bit of an expert eh? I have FUTURE NOIR - great book (it sits alongside my signed copy of the Sergio Leone biography, SOMETHING TO DO WITH DEATH in the Snake-Eyes Library). The Workprint version - that 'temp' music heard during the final Batty/Deckard pursuit is quite surreal, eh?

NW - seeing as you're such a fan of this film, have you ever read the Marvel Comic's Adaptation? It's pretty well written and illustrated.

Snake, thanks for the quick reply mate. Yes, that 'temp' music during the chase is very surreal. As is the 'alternate' music of Rachael at the piano scene (workprint ofcourse!). I too have Future Noir the 2nd edition hardback, its a must for all BR enthusiasts!!! Our 'holy scripture' if you will

As for the Marvel comic, no I havent read it. In fact, I am vexed beyond words why I havent seeing as i'm a BR nut!! Do you know where I can get a copy??

Cheers mate and 'have a better one'!!

This is the 'Marvel Super Special' (issue 22) version.

It collects the two separate issues (it was a 2-issue 'limited series') and also has some nice 'behind-the-scenes' stuff too.

May I also recommend the 'Official Movie Magazine' -

Try eBay or the online comic dealers - SILVER ACRE COMICS.
