It's NOT too long!
It's not like it was a peter jackson movie. Or as bad as spider man, in which i needed and was calling out someone give me a book i'm bored! All the characters had grown and had there own agenda, so there was enought twists, turns and fighting to keep you interested and if thats not enough then theres always Johnny!
Gore Verbinski wanted you to leave saying 'thats not what i expected, but i liked it' and i think he managed it. Of course things were the same but you can't expect a different style and shuff random things in just to add something new it wouldn't fit.
Overall, I'd been waiting for this a long time and thats always bad news because you get disappointed, but i wasn't and I'd go see it again.

What a load of rubbish.
Where is the magic, where is the fun, where is the sparkle in Jack's eye - WHERE IS THE STORY ?
It is dull, and confusing. I've still not worked out who was doing a deal with who - and I really don't care.

I agree wholheartedly with the Empire review, my opinion is to miss the first hour and half, sit back and watch the second half. Pure fun, Jack Sparrow on top form

Just saw this last night and am in two views really on what I thought. I thought it was entertaining but certainly not as good as the original which had a fantastic easy to follow narrative. In credit to this one though I did like it better than Dead Man's chest but there were many moments in Worlds End where my mind was wandering and I couldn't understand what was going on. It seems I'm not the only one with this view and if I couldn't understand parts of it, god knows what the 11 year old kids on half term were thinking! I thought the acting was superb from Johnny, Keira and Orlando but I think that the movies downfall was that it complicated itself too much to save itself. Apparantly they filmed many endings to the film so might get the DVD when it's out to have a look but overall, it wasn't something rememberal to go down in cinema history.

The door is apparantly open to a fourth pirates movie so it will be interesting to see if anything can be resolved in that, if it can be resolved!

I thought this was inventive, hilarious and brilliant. It's just a popcorn film, not the next Citizen Kain - sit back and enjoy the film as you would the ride it's based on! Great fun, stunning visuals and as Empire point out, very bold plot choices and lots of darkness here.

I totally agree with adamc (below!). No one expected the first film to do as well as it did, even Disney didn't put their logo on the start of the film, I think for fear of being ridiculed if it all went tits up! It's supposed to be an adventure film, it's probably not going to be one of the all time classics, but still an enjoyable way to forget about things for a few hours. I'd much rather spend a few hours of my day with Johnny and co than do much else!

As the writer have admitted on P2's features disc they wrote the 1st as a stand alone film, not expecting to be called back almost sounding daunted about doing another 2. Maybe thats a factor and it wasn't the best film ever but I still enjoyed it, I prefered it to P2 and thought the film if nothing else was good fun and looked beautiful. How often do you get to swash and buckle in 2007.

It's not a BAD movie! It's just a shame that this summer it seems that standards are slipping for the threequels with shrek and spiderman and being as good as the prequels! Only Jebus himself can save Ocean's Thirteen and The Bourne Ultimatum!

This was a big improvement on the dead mans chest.

I thought the running time of the film passed rather quickly, it only sagged when orlando and kiera were on screen.

It was a shame that chow yun fats character was there to basically further kieras character that really annoyed me

The return of Barbosa was brilliant, i did expect him to turn on everyone at some point and i was extremely chuffed that he didnt.

Capt Jack speaking to other versions of himself was hilarious especially when one of them dropped their brain.

Special mention to the monkey and the parrot for making me laugh out loud

More films could easily be made involving ~Capt Jack and Barbosa

I think this was a fine finale to the series. It was rather easy to follow and although a lot happened, I wasn't destracted. Main plus-points:

Character of Jack Sparrow back to his psychadelic self. As where Sparrow was wasted and rather silly in DMC, here he's back in form as (scene) stealing, sceming, lovable, mad pirate.

The effects were superb. No silly monsters and some awe-inspiring moments (the flipping of the ship, the mealstrom finale)

The story itself is very good. It just seems they had a better script than the second time. They learned from their mistakes I guess.

Okay, it's a bit too long and some jokes fall a bit flat but as entertainment it's more than succesfull. People shouldn't nag so much. It's made for a big audience, it's not supposed to win any awards.

God that was awful. Overlong, nonsensical, too many pointless plot threads, not enough Jack Sparrow. This is meant to be a kid-friendly film. How could any child hold their attention through 3 hours of this junk? even if the plot made sense it would still be tough for even the best behaved child to sit still for that long.
Granted, the battle at the end was exciting and well put together, the CG was very good and Geoffrey Rush was superb as Barbarossa (He stole the show completely imo), but I could have done without the first two hours. Sao Feng was a pointless character, Keith Richards' cameo was devoid of any humour, even Jack got a little bit too serious in parts. And Calypso? Seriously, if she's meant to be a goddess you'd think they could come up with something better than just making her really big. The fun has been completely sucked out of the series.

, Ok, I'm a geek, but I just need to clear something up: in DMC Elizabeth says Will taught her to fight, it is a bit of a throwaway line but it's there.
Moving on, I enjoyed AWE, it wasn't ever going to be as good as Curse of the Black Pearl but as summer nonsense goes it could have been much worse. Since there are rumours of Mr Depp going musical, perhaps the next installment will be Pirates of Penzance!

I thought it was pretty good, a little slow and boring in places but it had most of the action was pretty amazing, but yeah it'll never live up to the first.

I thought it was good but not so great. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End for me :
Not so great but funnny(funnier than I'd expected), exciting(less exciting than I'd expected though, it was dull and confusing to tell you the truth), a feast for the senses. A film with great visual effects.

it's a pushed 7/10

It was good though not a patch on the original but a vast improvement on Dead Mans Chest

It had more of a feel of The Black Pearl although there were a few pointless scenes and side stories.

Not much else to say really, other than it's all getting a little tired now. Ironically the biggest joke here involved a midget with a shotgun.

Conclusion:

Better than the second. An entertaining (and suprisingly dark at times) close to the trilogy but nothing overly special. Here's hoping they leave it here.

Pretty awful film to be honest. The whole trilogy has relied on Jack Sparrow, and even he in this one looks a pale shadow of his former enthusiasm. A stunningly illogical plot (I genuinelt had no idea what was going on), an ensemble cast of double the size it should be (what was the point in Chow Yun Fat?) and all at a criminally long running time. True, it doesn't come close to the peter Jacksons, but at least they had the good grace to throw in a decent story and some form of interesting characters. I really think entire characters and plotlines should have been lost, and the film turned into a 110 minute ripping yarn with a central premise and a few scrapes along the way. As it is it is far too complicated to the point of uninteresting.

A total mess of a film and a waste of $200 million. It may have pretty visuals and Kiera Knightly but thats not enough to carry a film like this through. The plot was based around the big effect set pieces when it should always be the other way round. All in all a big waste of 3 hours of my life.

Well what to say, I don't think it was a bad film, I just think it was quite disappointing and all a bit of a mess plotwise, at times it was hard to follow but eventually I worked it all out after a little thought. I dont think Kiera is that bad an actress, but over the three films she gets worse and worse, pouting more and more, and with Bloom, well lets just say its obvious that he never graduated from drama school. Empire's review is spot on, whilst elements of the film are a mess there are some great visuals and some cracking monkey moments. Keith Richards is actually really good also!

It was more Rush and NIghy for me, Skarsgard was hardly in it! and criminally underused.

Unbelievable. So very bad, how did the first one spawn such dire sequels? Best part of this on was the Flying Dutchman/Black Pearl attack on the Endeavour. Oh yeah, and Bill Kim from Prison Break.

Watched it last night, and I thought it was a fun piece of popcorn entertainment. Not as good as the first, but I thought it was alright. The funniest thing though was when my friend pointed out a plothole after the film.

*SPOILERS*
If you stay after the credits, you see an extra scene where Elizabeth is waiting for Will, with a ten year old boy who is their son.
Afterwards my friend said "How can she have his child? He had his heart cut out, so he can't have any blood circulation, which means he can't get an erection"

I also saw AWE yesterday evening and i really enjoyed it. My expectations were very low indeed so that may have had something to do with it. It was a bit long but they could have done without the 'Good Jack'/'Bad Jack' bits and cut a few other bits, but ultimately, the length did not bother me. It was dark and i liked that. Particularly the opening which i really liked!

Everyone has said the plot is confusing. Eh? It wasn't that hard to follow. It was far from perfect story telling but it wasn't as bad as everyone made out. There were a few bits in the film i personally thought didn't work but that often happens and on repeated viewings that will go. There were a few plot holes but i will forgive it because i'm feeling generous.

Nighy, Depp, Rush (Barbossa is amazing in this film) and Keith Richards were brilliant. The rest of the acting was passable to good.

Ultimately a good piece of entertainment but i'd quite like them to leave the franchise now.

A good enjoyable film but it was too long, too complicated and the jokes have now been stretched wafer thin.

it was a total mess and all over the place and was waaaaaaaaay too long.But,the effects were fantastic and johnny depp is fantastic as usual.overall its good but a disappointment
