Has anyone used Otaka Castle to buy any of their Anime? I really want some One Piece dvd's but never heard of them so I want to know if they are reputable.

I'd be careful with the release on that site - they look like they're dodgy HK versions which will have awful subtitles as there's no english dub included.

list of japan releases:
http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/DVD_Releases

List of funimation releases:
http://onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/FUNimation_Entertainment/Episode_List_and_DVD_Releases

If you're finding a 50 episode box set for £30 and think it's too good to be true, it probably is. Unless someone can disprove this and confirm there are 50 episode box sets out there for only £30.....

Well I've taken a gamble and ordered the One Piece Strong World dvd. If it turns out to be crap I just won't use them again.

I've seen the Strong World film before and the animation was great as it was the latest film of the series. Fingers crossed the quality of the dvd will be ok.

I finished FMA: Brotherhood last night and I am now done! In the past few months i've read the manga, re-watched the original series and watched brotherhood.

After a shaky start where they rushed through the initial chapters and omitted entire chapters (Yoki @ the mines) it started to slow down a bit and go at an acceptable pace. It followed the original manga very closely which I liked, with only minor diversions and fillers. It was brilliantly animated with the final four episodes being movie quality. Overall I did end up preferring Brotherhood to the original series due to its length, animation quality and storyline (no alternative realties here)

just trying to decide what to tackle next, I might end up going for a USTV series instead of more anime.....

Would anyone here happen to know what's going on with the film Satoshi Kon was working on before he passed, The Dream Machine or whatever it was? I loved the man's work and am curious to know how far he'd got it along.

Oh, and can I recommend Katsuhuhiro Otomo's Memories to everyone? Frankly, I think the Magnetic Rose segment is brilliant and possibly the best anime sci-fi I've seen.

My DVD has arrived and to me it looks like the pucka thing. Really nice packaging with some hologram writing on the cardboard sleeve. Definately think its a legit copy, albeit from Malaysia whcih doesn't bother me in the slightest. So it looks like Otaku Castle is worth considering for hard to obtain anime.

Bleach 308 - wow.

I don't read the manga anymore, that was epic. They must have used 5 chapters for that episode, it went by really quickly and I loved the Ichigo vs Aizen fight. Finally, nice to see Aizen get some smackdown laid down on him.

I've got the manga to read but haven't started it yet. I don't think i'll ever watch the anime as it's too far ahead and I wouldn't want to sit through seasons and seasons of filler. But I will read the manga eventually...

My current watches:

Bleach - currently very good, but will be drifting into filler town soon. The Gin stuff was great and the fight with Aizen is really exciting at the moment. not looking forward to whats on the horizon....

Naruto - fillers. absolute shite. Even when it gets back on track i'm ahead in the manga so I know there aren't many exciting chapters ahead. (volumes 49-50 were quite a bore if i'm honest)

Yosuga No Sora - my first incest anime (and hopefully my last). There was some hentai scenes, but nothing too graphic. Only got this to boost my ratio on bakabt, I wasn't even planning on watching it but I was out of things to watch so I thought fuck it, it's only 12 episodes how bad can it be. It was quite bad....

Inuyasha The Final Chapter - The final 26 episodes which have no filler and cover the final 20 or so manga volumes. I'm 10 episodes in so far and it's watchable. The problem with Inuyasha is that you'd struggle to tell the difference between filler and canon material. There are so many chapters that don't move the plot along whatsoever i.e character gets an upgrade which he then uses and we're back to square one. You have a 'big bad' that pops his head round the door every episode which takes away any epicness whenever your main villain makes an appearance. The reason the 'baddies' work in programs like Naruto is that they rarely appear and when they do you can be damn sure there'll be some major plot shakeups.

But anyway 26 episodes is nothing after I watch all 167 + 4 movies from the original series a few years back. So I may as well finish it.

Do I actually like anime?

I've given up on the Manga. All down hill from there.

Still reading Naruto and that's about it. Although now I'm fed up or reading it every week. Leaving it a bit before I read again.

Any good films coming out soon? Like this month?

Not really this month (that i'm personally looking forward to) but i've got the below on my radar

http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=8090
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=7991
http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=8055

I recently watched the below and it's very much worth a watch if you're looking for a recent movie to watch:

http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=6299

starting to wonder what will show at the all nighter in April, they could even end up showing the above (which I would to see on the big screen). I predict there will be at least one bleach and/or Naruto movie that I can sleep through

I enjoy reading them Wednesday/Thursday when they drop and Fairy Tail on a weekend If you fancy reading something a bit different give Fairy Tail a go its actually very good will be watching the anime when i can be bothered to start downloading them which may be soon as the Xbox is boring me now!

Naruto should have some good stuff coming up the Five Kage summit, Danzo VS Sasuke with a bit of Kakashi thrown in. Lets hope they make a better job of it than the Pain fight and keep it 100% to the Manga like they did with the Itachi fight...

Bleach Managa is a bit Meh at the moment and not really sure where there going to with it but ill be sticking with it, same as One Piece (aka the never ending story)

Re: Bleach 309

again, another epic episode. top quality in every way, I think there was even some new music for this one. Trying to keep this as spoiler-free as possible..........is that really the end of the big bad? If so, the only thing that's now left unresolved is the 'fisher' hollow who we haven't seen for a couple hundred episodes. Either way, it seems to be nearing its conclusion imo.

Haha you'd think so wouldnt you! would seem like a natural finish and maybe should have been. But no! We're still in for more not quite sure where there going with it at the moment so we shall see.

Spoiler: Wasnt the Fisher hollow killed a while ago by Isshin when the Arrancar first apeared? That was when we found out he was a shinigami? ill see if i can find a link.
Edit: Found it Episode 111 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bleach_episodes_(season_6)

I just finished watching this - absolutely fan-bloody-tastic. It's the follow up the Ninja Scroll i've been waiting years for. Samurai Champloo and some of the Samurai X films came close, but this is action packed, ultra violent and it has some great main characters. I really hope this is picked up for one of the future all nighters - it would be epic on the big screen

Would really recommend this one - get it now!

lineup for this years festival all nighter has been revealed on facebook:

quote:

AKIRA (HD) The very first anime film we ever screened!
2001 NIGHTS: TO
EDEN OF THE EAST – AIR COMMUNICATION
EDEN OF THE EAST – MOVIE 1 – THE KING OF EDEN
REDLINE

Akira on the big screen - Yes!
2001 Nights: To - new to me, don't know what this will be like.
2 x Eden of the East Movies - not too fussed about these. I'm glad I went to the last all nighter that showed the series so i'll know what's going on however it just feels like lazy marketing for Manga UK. They seem to go with lots of easy choices rather than showing movies that are actually half decent.
Redline - Didn't manage to see this last years because of technical difficulties, so would very much to see this.

Thinking about it it's not such a bad lineup......can't wait to see Akira on the big screen

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere on the boards -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWZTACASuWE&feature=player_embedded

Even though I ain't anywhere near as much into Anime as I was about a decade ago, this looks half decent.

For those that didn't want to import Akira to get it on  blu-ray, you've not got long to wait.

New Blood-C anime announced:

Hope it's as good as the other adaptations. I ended up really enjoying Blood+.

Not too sure on the Clamp character designers though, not a fan of their style/work but with Production I.G. behind the project it should be a success

Forgot about this completely. Bloody next week now!

Mixed feelings ... as it's kinda short notice. On the other hand if I have May day off that's an extra day to recover which would be awesome. Ughhh it's probably going to be too short notice to drag some mates along.
