I had it on. Pretty cool & very crazy.
My favourite one is the bank heist feature (By Derren Brown but not this show)

Normally I really like Derren Brown (his special at New Years was cool) but I thought this was a bit crap. I dunno if the guy they tricked wouldn't agree to be filmed afterwards but it just seemed to end really abruptly.

i was really looking forward to this, but the big payoff at the end just... wasn't there. Obviously they spent loads of time and effort on getting that guy from A to B, but then he just sort of , wandered about, looked confused when a man offered him a snake... and then the credits rolled. I like to see the bits where the 'victim' tells the audience about how freaked out they were etc.

Having said that, the usual stuff on the street and with the guests (league of gentlemen) was as cool as ever.

Was it just me, or did those trick or treat cards look like they were ambigrams, and there will always be tricks being selected?

 Normally I love Derren's stuff - I've seen him live twice now and own all the DVDs....but this wasn't up to his usual standard. I think that somebody new to DB would be much more likely to think that he was using stooges after watching Friday's show; for instance why did the girl in the guy's bed not react at all when Derren entered the room?? The entire beginning of the show felt a little...wrong...just not the way I would have expected someone to react when a complete stranger wakes you up. The Trick Or Treat concept sounds good on paper (obviously trying to repeat the success of the 'Zombie' episode from a couple of series back), but the way the guy reacted at the end was totally flat. No way you can control for that I suppose....by the looks of the clip from next week's show we're in for a treat (no pun intended)!

Loved the New York street stuff and the League Of Gentlemen section (my mind is still melting from trying to figure out how he did that one).

I love him but I agree about the lack of any real climax. At the end of the day all he did was mange to get someone to fall alseep for a few hours. Sure he moved him to a new location but when you boil it down there wasn't actually much to the trick. I also felt the way in which the guy went into the photo booth was a little wierd.

I guess I didnt really feel the dissapointment because I was half watching it.
Just had it on in the background. I just wished they showed more of that guys reaction at the end.

You could be right. I watched carefully when I next saw the advert and though I couldn't see for long enough to be sure, they did seem over-stylised, as if it was an ambigram or something. And it would be just the kind of clever sneaky trick you'd expect with this sort of show.

I actually thought the same thing, as I had been flicking through Dan Browns Angels and Demons and after looking at the adds a couple of more times I would say that it's 99.9% the case that they are Ambigrams.

 Thought this was very good (I'm a big fan of Derren Brown) I do think it would've been great to hear what the guy transported to Morrocco thought after he had been told it was part of the trick, maybe he didn't want to appear after what had happened??
Oh and we paused the TV to see the cards and deffinately think they are ambigrams (so trick everytime then!)
Think my favourite episode of Derren is when they get that guy to play that zombie game in the pub and then hipnotise him and put him into a real zombie game, needless to say he gets totally freaked out thinking it's all real!

Meh, this week was also a bit crap. Oh, and the cards are definitely ambigrams; I was watching it with 4 On Demand and paused it to check.

Derren Brown's getting too weird. Previously he was just a cool magician or 'psychological illusionist' or whatever he calls himself, that could make people do what he wanted - now with the whole burlesque-theme and weird music/settings he's becoming almost a parody of himself. The stuff he does in New York on this show is more like old Derren Brown.

Yeah that's what I mean - that stuff is really cool and I love watching it (the big grin he had on his face as he walked out of the jewellry shop with a $2400 ring made me laugh ). But I guess, like he says, he has to do it in New York because he's gotten too famous in the UK, so that's why his tricks in the UK have taken the turn they have.

Is it me or is the wow factor gone from his material?
Fair enough, the blank money trick was quite good, but c'mon, the puppet thing looked so pants, the guy was so obviously an actor.

Also, anyone get the subtle trick that maybe Derren was telling us it was all a setup?

 Yes I saw it.

I was rather inspired to go into the sandwich shop at lunchtime and start talking about whether it was safe to take a bus before handing over a bit of blank paper to pay for my ham and cheese on white, but decided that I'd more likely be nicked than get away with it.  Pretty much like one of my favourites when he went to the dog races and kept being paid out on winning tickets.

And i thought the puppet thing was amazing.  WOW.  I mean the guy thought he was a puppet that had just been locked in a box.  Feck me this freaked me out.  He's wondering about on stage not being able to see.  I don't think that the guy was an actor, though I've seen Derren before say that he likes drama types to be his subjects as they are very open minded.  imo much more impressive than last week's trip to Marrakesh where just about all he did was put the guy to sleep for 14 hours, funnier cos he wakes up and there are camel noises outside, but a bit.. muurrgh

Both shows have been good so far. The blank money trick was brilliant.
I'm going to see him live in Stoke on May 15th. I'm dreading he's gonna pick me as one of his volunteers. I don't wanna end up in Morroco. I've got an exam the next day.

 Last night I got round to watching last week's episode....the first 'Treat' of the series so far.

Man, that was incredible- usually I have a pretty good idea of how Derren works, but I honestly have no idea how he pulled that off.

 Did anyone see the car crash one last week?  One of the most fucked up things I have ever seen.  He's amazing, I saw him live a few years ago and its astounding.  Wanted to go again but it sells out so fast I couldn't get tickets.

The car crash one was pretty impressive. But the past couple of shows have been underwhelming.
The one where he made the participant go "crazy" was boring.

 good stuff tonight, if not quite as impressive as the car crash one from the previous series.

But no way were there more than a thousand coffee beans on that tray!  I'd have said about 300 at most.

Pretty impressive. It think the show should be longer though. Like a TV hour. With one ongoing trick or treat like this one and then other little sections of other tricks.
Just always feels a bit short.
