Hooray, hooray, Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut was well received at the LA Shorts Festival last week. The film, "These Vagabond Shoes" stars Kevin Bacon in New York and was shot in black & white, the film is apparently about a hotdog shop called "Nathan's" in Coney Island, where Kevin Bacon is on a journey to get to. (Waaarriors... Come out to Plaaayayy! Sorry, the mention of Coney Island always makes me say that, ha ha.) I keep meaning to go back to New York again and check out Coney Island. My mate told me that the legendary ferris wheel there, (which you can still go on), is going to to torn down soon! I might just have to check out "Nathan's" while I'm there. Ha ha. "These Vagabond Shoes" was described as: "Beautifully done and warmly received", the review that I read went on to say; "the characters and cityscape Bacon passes along his journey are colorful nonetheless", (with reference to the film being beautifully shot in Black & White and still being enchanting to the eye. Personally I love Back & White films.). I keep meaning to see a collection of short films called "To Each His Own Cinema". It's proving to be quite a tricky one to track down though sadly. Contributing directors include, the Coen Brothers, David Cronenberg, David Lynch, Lars Von Trier, Takashi Kintano, Ken Loach, Jane Campion, Wim Wenders, Gus Van Sant and Kar Wai Wong. Hope all is well. Peace.
