Slightly better than the original, with good cast and great soundtrack, Kurt Russell and Tilda Swinton shine in their small roles.

There are far too many films that think they're cleverer than they actually are. Vanilla Sky is one of them. Not one to chip in or splash out for.

One of the most pretentious and fantastically terrible films ever created. Despite a young gifted cast and intelligent director with an interesting premise, this has to be one of the biggest disapointments in movie history. Empire again your rating surprises me - another Alexander/A.I/Jeepers Creepers mistake in my opinion.

Whilst the first couple of hours or so were very interesting, suspenseful etc, the last twenty minutes and the 'reveal' completely spoiled the film, turning into pretentious, 'The Fountain' terriroty. If they sorted out the ending then this would be a brilliant film.

For all the talent involved, this is pretty woeful. It looks really dated now, and the sci fi description is just silly. In fact the whole thing is silly, especially the GCSE English plot twist at the end. It was all just a dream, what a cop out and big dog's cock of a cliche.

Truly, the use of "pretentious" to damn anything that differs from boilerplate a-z is one of the curses of our age. And the teenager's bedroom point above is far closer to a pseudo-clever crappy construct than anything in the film (teenagers tend to be prone to solipsism, no? the film is about, in part, conscience and consequences)

Didn't we all agree that it was a poor rip off of the vastly superior Abre los Ojos around 2003?

I thought so.

lol! Is that an ex cathedra or Royal 'we'? count me out. Rip-off is a strange word to use for an official remake (man, maybe Amenabar should try contacting Watchdog? You'd think Penelope Cruz would have given him a heads-up)

And, no offense, but me checking out the Empire review and thread for a film I'm currently watching is a lot less weird than you pouncing minutes after my comment, especially when you hadn't even commented on this thread before....
