This was a TV programme from 2000, a dramatisation of the love affair between Sidney James and Barbara Windsor, played out against the backdrop of the 'Carry On' films during the 1960s and 1970s.  I'm a big Carry On fan and I missed it back in 2000.  Where can I see it?  The region 1 dvd is rather expensive.  Can anyone suggest a *cough* download *cough*?

im a carry on fan too. i remember seeing this when it was on. i think it was quite good, with some good impersonations. i dont think it was that well received, it was on at easter time i think.

i didnt tape it though. i have been trying to get hold of it recently as i wanted to see it again, dont think its been repeated which is odd because most things are repeated at least once. but i didnt want to pay much for it, especially when the carry on dvds are so cheap.

I remember this, by Terry Johnson based on his stage play. Its quite entertaining with some very good performances & captures the spirit of the times, emulating the style of the Carry Ons. Although it just reinforces the myth that Sid James was a dirty old man in real life & there are quite a few inaccuracies which a bit of research could have prevented. Worth watching but not worth buying.

I remember watching that and quite enjoying it, the guy who played Kenneth Williams was very good.  I don't like the DVD cover though!

I'm seriously annoyed that the dvd is only available in th US.  I can play R1 dvds but it's very pricey, around 30 including p&p.    It usually goes for nearly 40 on ebay   Perhaps I can get a copy off the production company....
