Nolans having a medical at West Ham and Bartons expressed some pretty negative opinions on Twitter re how the big earners are being got rid of.
All this may mean it will almost be a 'new' team next season which will, of course, be Pardews team.

Oh well things change .... lets hope its for the better.

Interesting that Nolan's dropping down a league, though I suppose Big Sam has a personal connection to him. Still would have thought there'd be a half a dozen Premiership teams sticking a bid in for him.

I've heard that Nolan wanted a 5 year contract despite still having 2 years left on his current and Newcastle only offered 4 years...understandable I think for a man in his late twenties and if they give that to Nolan the like of Barton will want the same

If you lost Barton and the players he's mentioned then it'll be a big prob to replace I'd say

Regardless of how good any new signings may end up being, it won't change the fact that off-loading one of our best players (and most reliable goalscorer) on the cheap and treating another (who, lest we forget, was willing to take a pay-cut to stay) with quite staggering contempt is scandalous behaviour and a textbook example of how not to run a football club. They've shown time and time again they have no grasp of, or interest in, the concept of building a team and seem perfectly happy for the club to remain stagnant while they get on with the all-important business of keeping the wage bill as low as possible and, to paraphrase Barton, assembling a squad as young and cheap as they can.
Even if we were to spend every penny available this summer and have a blinding season there's no way on earth I'd be thanking those two know-nothing con-men. The only way this club can move forward is if they sell and quick, though even then, uness we're talking the highly unlikely prospect of Man City-level investment, it'd take some hard work to repair the damage done by that fat waste of space and his shyster sidekick.
God, sometimes I wish I'd been born in Liverpool.

With Nolan going, and possibly Barton and Enrique, and whoever else, we will indeed reduce the wage bill, but that all-important team spirit fostered in our season in the Championship will disappear along with them.

We needed new players to add a bit of extra quality to the first team, as well as to give the pretty bare bones squad some depth. If we end up with half a new first team, those players will of course take time to bed in and I wouldn't be surprised if we have a rocky start to the forthcoming season.

It seems that every time Pardew says he really needs to keep someone, the FCB sells them--Carroll, Nolan, who knows Barton, Spidey, Jose. I wish he would say we must keep Shola at all costs.

Now we've signed Midfielder Sylvain Marveaux who looked set to join Liverpool but has opted for us.

We are making good progress with some quality players coming in.

They could all turn out to be great signings but it says a lot about the club that, Cabaye apart, they've all cost nowt.
Younger...cheaper...hmm. Still, if Marveaux has a blinder they can make a tidy profit when they flog him to Liverpool or Man U in a year's time. Job done.

Anyway, seething cynicism towards the cunts running our club aside, I think Demba Ba could prove to be a useful signing. In only ten games for the Hammers he scored more goals than either Ameobi, Lovenkrands or Best did in nearly twice as many matches, so given the right service I'm pretty confident he can bang them in. Let's just hope some of these new signings can cross a ball as it's looking increasingly likeley that last season's best player has pulled on a black and white shirt for the last time.

Not sure about that ...... he has had a groin injury since November of last year and has'nt played since. Im sure that wont hamper him for much longer, the season isnt starting just yet.

I wonder if we are getting all these French players because the travel budget is restricted to off-peak ferries with no overnight allowances. Plus there do seem to be some injury doubts about the last 2 .
I can't really cope with the rapid swing from big money, low value signings, to low money, dodgy value signings. Lets have a marquee signing, way over the odds, that we all know will let us down, then I can relate to our proud history. How about Samuel Eto'o ? He has all the usual attributes-glittering career, goal machine, sulky attitude, no desire to play for us.

He's the one I'm most excited about (well, after Ben Arfa who's a new signing in all but name) but having read a bit more about Marveaux I'm intrigued by the fact that Graham Carr's been following him for a good two years, much like he did with Tiote.
Having said all that, despite the stellar work by Carr and the rest of the scouting team, it'll sadly mean fuck all if the only reason they signed them was so they could sell them on in a year. We'll see.

Got through to Talksport this morning to tell Micky Quinn he was wrong to say the Toon will struggle this season without Nolan and that we wont lose Barton or Enrique.

An interesting bit of tweeting by Enrique indicates he would not be too unhappy to get an offer from somewhere like Liverpool.

If Newcastle are enacting a policy of getting rid of players to bring in youth then I'd applaud them for this. I think the bottom end of the EPL will be so weak this season that Newcastle won't be in any danger of going down and if a club wanted to take a breather and start a journey in a new direction this is a good season to do that.

If, however, all they are doing is selling off players and the money won't be re-invested, then this is a cycle that will just push Newcastle downwards.
