Classy player indeed.

Although I'm not sure that I buy into the "Aye, he'z gowt a greet touch for a big laddy" mentaility. If you're a good player, you're a good player. Regardless of size.

In fact I think Viduka, and others like him are classy players partly because of their size, rather than despite of it.

Well, it's not that, it's just he's just so tall and stocky that you wouldn't expect him to have such a perfect touch and be a brilliant controller of the ball. Definitely one of the best at holding the ball up for other players as well.

To be honest, I think players like Viduka (and RVN) often have a better touch than some of the mid-field showboats because they have to constantly take a ball down with a 14 stone centre-half up their arse.

Which, is obviously a very hard skill to perfect.

What a frustrating game on Sunday.  Not sure there's a lot else I can say really.

Just heard about Dyer: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/w/west_ham_utd/6967762.stm

Got to feel sorry for the bloke, he's incredibly unlucky.  Impeccable timing though.

Makes you kind of glad we sold him though doesn't it

I just hope we can get a couple more defenders in before the transfer window closes otherwise we really are in the poo poo.

Yeah, Carr and Ramage getting crocked in the same game wasn't ideal really, was it?

Any suggestions?

I've heard talk about us possibly getting Justin Hoyte from Arsenal on loan. But apart from that I have no idea who we could get in to replace them.

So Beno, do you still think Newcastle will break into the top 4 this season?

Hi Felix , not been on for a while cos the old Computers gone to Tron or wherever dead Computers go to .The new ones a wireless media centre so im totally in the dark..... but in answer to your question yes i do , we have not fell out of the top half all season and have only lost twice . More funds are forthcoming in January and Owen , Viduka and Martins can only score more goals , im cockahoop .

What? Of the Fair Play table?

The only way forward for Newcastle IMO is Owen off to Man City and Anelka in from Bolton. I could really see Anelka being a toon legend.

We have Spurs at home on Monday and the stats say that we have put more past them over the years than any other Prem. team . Mind you looks like Robbo is injured so maybe not a goal - fest this time .

Need a big win against Spurs tonight to keep in touch with the top six . The top four already have a healthy looking goal scoring tally and three of them could pull away from the rest . We need to keep them in our sights so four or five goals would be good tonight as well as keeping a clean sheet .
Barton is back and if he takes part he will want to impress so to be honest im optimistically predicting a big win for us tonight .

3-1 with 15 minutes left, I'll take that.   We don't need another sulky Frenchman thanks!

Barton's just come on to make his debut.

I'm watching it now.  Shocking performance, very lacklustre in the first quarter of an hour especially, and they took advantage.  All credit to Portsmouth though, they played well.

Not the sort of preparation needed for the next few games...

Another shambles, their must be something about pulling on the shirt that makes defenders lose all defnsive ability, defeat next weekend really isnt an option but it wouldnt be a surprise

For some reason, between 15:08 and 15:11 on Saturday, I had an image of a crisp ten pound note come into my head. Any reason why that might be Beno?

Wasn't reported that way, fair enough if it was the case.

One more reason why I despise the media.

Speculation over Allardyce's future

I don't want us to become part of this managerial merry-go-round.  If he goes, who will replace him?  Chris Hutchings?

We're 10th in the league.  I admit its not great, but its a gradual process.  Last weekend's result wasn't good, but it happens.  People expect miracles overnight and bay for blood when they don't come.  Its ridiculous.

Rant over!

A bit early for that kind of talk i think . I dont think anyone can know what Mike Ashley is thinking unless he publicly says something , now if we lose to Sunderland the fans will be baying for blood .

Owen is due a goal or two and Barton is due a performance so Sunderland , i hope , could be in trouble come this weekend .
